Expect they didnt shit all over Carol to do this. They didnt shit all over johnny blaze when Alejandra became the ghost rider. And why do lady sif and valkyrie not get the hammer?
I'm sorry, you seem to be making assumptions that cannot be made until you have the full run of this new character on your hands. Are you some sort of time traveler?
I imagine some fans of Thor, who follow the comics, will stop reading now... They might say this to themselves...
A woman picked up the hammer? and inherited Thor's powers? and took his title? I was really hoping it would be a white man =[ I'm done following these comics...
...of course they'd probably think this in the back of their minds... as they RAGE online.

After an awesome run with the Blaze, a lame copout excuse for Johnny to give up his powers again was dumb.
hey remember when bucky became captain america? remember when superman died? remember when spiderman was a clone of doctor octopus? controversial changes to main characters like this pretty much never stay permanent. all of you crying over this are being straight up retarded to think that this is gonna mean anything in a few months. besides, i can almost guarantee that most of those dumb ratings come from people who don't even read comics at all, let alone comics where thor appears. y'all are just jumping on the "mainstream media is pandering to social justice warriors at the expense of storylines and authorial integrity!!!!!" bandwagon, which is more or less what marvel were probably expecting from the get go. the news basically acts as an advert for the new comics - people are outraged, and absolutely must buy and read the comic so they can see how outrageous it is. either that or people are surprised at the new direction and are genuinely curious to see what marvel do with it so they buy it and read it
look dudes how many times has a comic book character radically changed in character punisher turned in to a fucking zombie, superman's been fat/evil over and over again, batman had nips, so on, comic book characters have always been more fluid than fucking water and change rapidly all the time, and very very very rarely are any of these changes actually permanent and a lot of them are way more stupid and radical than someone else stepping up to the plate but with boobies long story short get over it nerds

This is neither of those, they're taking a character from a big continuity(in this case marvel 616) and just changing his gender, thats all. It's kind of silly imo. Im all for change, but at least make the effort of making a new character, and not change someone entirely just "because", it will most likely be dropped anyways after 6months, lol.

If anything her build is probably close to she-hulk.

Also, pfft, like there hasnt been dumb bullshit in the mainstream books. Frankenstein Punisher? that was canon to 616. Man-Spider? canon. General Ross turning into a mary sue Red Hulk and kicking The Watchers ass? It happened.

I mean shit, Spider-Mans drawn borderline anorexic at times but he can officially lift 10 tons. Fucking Superman doesnt even use his muscles, he just has "tactile telekinesis" It also seems weird for a magic hammer to require being buff to wield when the Hulk cant budge that shit on a good day.

Like, this is the closest I've seen it made with metal and even while being hollow it's still fucking heavy.

But then again its apparently 42 pounds, so the wiki says, so who knows.
I got an idea .. lets make every iconic or heroic male characters into females. Abraham Lincoln as Marry Lincoln. Han solo as Hun solo. James bond as Jamie bond. Jack Sparrow as Jackie Sparrow. Indiana Jones as Indiana Jordan. .. ect
It was the status quo for a time. Then it changed. So, in a certain way, he was right. It was the new status quo.
Exactly. It's a change for the foreseeable future. Think of it this way: After writing for the same characters for nearly 75 years, they'll start running thin on new ideas sooner or later. It gets harder and harder to make new stories under the same circumstances for decades. One way to spice things up is to make some kind of basic change to the hero. The gender-swap hasn't been done to death yet, and making a new character would mean they'd have to keep writing new stuff for her in addition to regular Thor. They're kind of killing two birds with one stone here.

50 bucks says Loki has something to do with it. But I'm okay with this. The gender, race of orientation doesn't define a character. The story / script and the interactions with other characters do. That said, Marvel isn't exactly terrific when it comes to writing female characters. It's better than what it was 10-20 years ago, but some lines are just really cringe-worthy. Personality / behavior wise, She-Hulk flops between a whore, sassy lawyer, man-with-female-body and emotional wreck seemingly every other iteration. Probably an extreme example considering She-Hulk has been rebooted, killed, resurrected, rewritten, ret-conned and straight up cancelled more than any Marvel heroine. She's had so many different writers now, I stopped keeping track. So Marvel, if you're gonna use She-Thor as a new "Strong Female Character", please don't just turn her into a woman with muscles and the mentality of a dude. That's just a cop-out.
She looks at the female hockey player tier at best, but I guess since the majority of nerdes don't want muscles on their women they didn't want to make it look like she could actually wield that hammer.
Women don't really get huge in the same way men do, take a look at Worlds strongest man and Worlds strongest women, the women are tiny in comparison to the men. If anything she needs a slightly bigger waist.
First they turned him into a horse and now a woman? It just keeps on getting crazier.
I think her shattering her sternum with the first attack to hit her armor is a big price to pay to let dudes objectify her tbh http://www.tor.com/blogs/2013/05/boob-plate-armor-would-kill-you
well.... As long as the slope was subtle and not massive, it would work Of course this can all be solved by just using flexible armor if you want booby lumps on your design. Chain/scale armor is more vikingish anyways so not sure why they chose plate armor (could be easier to draw :v:)
Just because they used it on their armor doesn't mean it's not a shit idea :v:
I have 3 problems with this. Why with the breast armour? Seriously it's ridiculous. She doesn't look muscular enough, she looks slightly bigger than the Invisible Woman or Rogue, I'd want her to rival She-Hulk in size. Most importantly though, why is she being called Thor? Thor is his name, the inscription on Mjolnir says you "inherit the power of Thor", not his name, she isn't even an Asgardian she's just some human woman. Other than those though it's pretty cool. Nice to have more than Ms. Marvel and She-Hulk as leading female characters.
Publicity stunt. Plain and simple. Look at all the people talking about FemThor. Bet they're gonna bring back the original Thor by some convoluted plotline/retcon bullshit once they have our attention.
What the fuck are you guys complaining about. Shit I'm pretty sure a few years ago their was a completely different guy swinging Thor's hammer and shit.
Power of, not you become Thor. The name-title thing they have going on is stupid. Just because you have Thor's power does not make you Thor since it's his name, not his title. If they're using it as a title then what's Thor's name?

Thor was probably named after the entity who originally wielded the powers Mjolnir is supposed to bestow and thus it isn't actually Thor's title to own.
So, MCU Thor movie with Zoe Bell as Thor when?
