If you take into consideration the fact that Mjolnir was forged before Thor was born. Thor was probably named after the entity who originally wielded the powers Mjolnir is supposed to bestow and thus it isn't actually Thor's title to own.
But didn't "whoever gets hammer gets Thor's powers" thing happen because of Thor's fuck up/punishment?
At first I was kind of angry about how this shits on Norse mythology.
Then I remembered that this is Marvel Thor, and Marvel already shat all over Norse mythology.
When Eric Masterson replaced Thor I don't think people even gave that much of a shit. Like it doesn't fucking matter
If they wish to fucking pick up Thor's name then so be it.
He was never called Thor though, was he?
Yeah he was
That's stupid too then.
Power of, not you become Thor. The name-title thing they have going on is stupid. Just because you have Thor's power does not make you Thor since it's his name, not his title. If they're using it as a title then what's Thor's name?
Allow me to remind you that Thor originally was a doctor called Donald Blake who found the hammer and became Thor, not the actual Thor.
Allow me to remind you that Thor originally was a doctor called Donald Blake who found the hammer and became Thor, not the actual Thor.
Really? I thought originally Thor was Odin's son? In that case I apologize.
What the fuck. This is hilarious. Well done Marvel. :v: Never read any Marvel comics beyond a little Deadpool. If DC ever decided to fuck up Batman I'll be pissed. But they can't be that stupid, can they?
Really? I thought originally Thor was Odin's son? In that case I apologize.
When he first showed up in Marvel Comics on the 60's, the story was that Odin decided that Thor was unworthy and sent his hammer to Earth. A doctor, Donald Blake, found it, and when he wielded it, he became the blonde, helmet-with-wings wearing Thor we know today.
Later (I don't know how much later), it was retconned that Donald Blake was Thor from the start, except on a mortal body and without memories, something that Odin did so that he would learn about his mistakes and become worthy again. This is the way it works, so the Thor we have today is Odin's son, but it was never always like this. The idea of someone else wielding the hammer and claiming the power of Thor has been with the character ever since his first appearance.
She looks at the female hockey player tier at best, but I guess since the majority of nerdes don't want muscles on their women they didn't want to make it look like she could actually wield that hammer.
i disagree, she totally looks like she could use it, her arms are huge
[editline]16th July 2014[/editline]
thor himself doesn't look incredibly fucking ripped in every single picture either

I thought that the whole shtick was that Thor was the only person who could move the hammer?
While we are at it lets make Thanos a super hot chick
Actually lets make all the avengers hot babes
and lesbians
you know, for uh politically correct equality
There has been a female thor before. and even Wonderwoman has been "Worthy" of the hammer (in a crossover), as is Storm. Anyone who can wield the hammer, can become Thor in the comics.
it's only weird because thor is a title and a name at the same time

Knowing Marvel I wouldn't doubt it if it was already a successful series with several reboots.
This is stupid, and in my opinion rates on the same level as turning the Green Lantern Gay.
I'm not against women, nor am I against anyone who is Gay. Its who you are. But changing iconic characters into something they never were, JUST because you don't want anyone to get offended or call out on it, is STUPID.
Invent some new, CREATIVE, super heroes who fit into the mold.
Don't change shit that isn't broke, just so you can make a few sensitive people feel better about their lifestyles/qualities.
But instead, people are too upset over how "Curvy" her "boob armor" is... FFS people, priorities.
They should make Ironman a woman but still have her called Ironman.
It's like people don't even understand how Marvel comics work. They have dozens of different timelines and stories in the Marvel Universe they play around with. This has absolutely nothing to do with the original story everyone knows about. The primary continuity is Earth 616, and this has nothing to do with that, just as how Spiderman being black in Ultimate Fallout has nothing to do with the original story.
I thought that the whole shtick was that Thor was the only person who could move the hammer?
In the comics, Captain America, Red Hulk, and even Superman (crossover) all lift the hammer and gain Thor's powers. The hammer itself is supposed to decide who's worthy or not.

Try new things
Artists shouldn't try anything new
I don't think that's what he said at all even if I don't agree with him
that's just a massive misunderstanding of his position
I'm still confused on how she got Mjölnir, I mean I am enjoying her look and what not. I just don't get why really. I don't have a problem with it just what?
also am I the only one who wants to see Mjölnir as a nice two handed hammer?
The craziest thing about this article is that they called Captain America, Iron Man and Thor "Marvel's big three".
If anyone who has read a comic book heard that six years ago they would have laughed their ass off.
Don't give a shit so long as it doesn't either affect the movies or replaces current Thor. That'd be stupid.

a. this is not just changing a character, it's a new character with the same powers as thor
b. who's to say she's not creative? she could end up being a great character
this is crap I'd expect from DC, not Marvel
then again, if it was DC they would just make him a transvestite or gay to "appeal" to people, rather than making a new character that is that way
Remember when DC said they'd make one of their superheroes gay? It was Alan Scott, the Golden Age Green Lantern.
The man whose ring doesn't work on wood.

The concept is extremely uncreative.
It's Thor. Except now it's a woman who is Thor.
Try new things
Don't try new things
Are you retarded or do you just willfully misunderstand people who don't match your exact viewpoint? I see you do this in nearly every thread involving topics like this.
The concept is extremely uncreative.

that's only her powers, there's more to a character than that
that's only her powers, there's more to a character than that
And uh, didn't the super hero Thor already have the powers of the Norse god Thor? If this character is to be considered uninventive, surely the old Thor is equally uninventive.
It doesn't matter if a super hero is hypersexualized unless its a woman. Nice double standard, facepunch, box forts mean less and less to me everyday.
