RIP. Will this lead to the end of RWBY? Also, why didn't anyone at the hospital check to see if he had any allergies?
I dunno they already had RWBY Volume 3 planned out.
I'm so proud of all the people that raised the money for his family though, they went above and beyond the call of duty.

The fuck, what's with animators dying in the last 2 weeks. Never really watched Rooster Teeth/RWBY, but still rest in peace, man.
I still haven't recovered from Edd Gould :c
Monty Oum was really the backbone of RT's major projects. I was never a big fan of RWBY or later-season RvB, but the animation was stellar and it's gonna be a huge hit to RT.

No fucking way, I watched this years ago and just faintly remembered the name

that was absolutely heartbreaking. my love to everyone who surrounded Monty.
I just saw this... such a big loss for RT and animation fans.
This is not how I wanted to end my day :(
That is a quite a mistake, I found out not too long ago I'm allergic to Penicillin.
Jesus. I remember hearing about this on Friday, when it was announced he was in the hospital, and to hear now that he's dead, when everything seemed so optimistic, is shattering, to say the least, along with Meg's video on The Know. I was a big fan of RWBY from the first episode, even if it wasn't the best of series, and his work on Red Vs Blue, seasons nine and ten in particular, could only be described as spectacular.
Rest in peace, you beautiful, beautiful man. You were, and still are, an inspiration.

Shiiiiit, I didn't know Monty as well as other RT members but I always liked how he acted at RTX and panel but the moment I watched this video I teared up, hearing her voice trembled like that really got to me. Hope you're in a better and more peaceful place Monty.

Thankfully though, hospitals generally don't have gloves made out of the stuff, so avoiding taking penicillin is quite easy, as long as you're on top of any meds you take.
Dude what the fuck... this is like extra fucking tragic jesus christ he was so fucking talented... all because of a fucking allergic reaction. What a bullshit way to leave.
It's always a good idea to get checked for latex allergies, hell, any common allergies.
I loved their stuff, hopefully this will make more people get checked for it.
R.I.P Monty, you were such an inspiration for so many.
Later days, Monty... later days.
I always admired his ability to see right through bullshit and rhetoric and be able to condense things into their barest essence in a way that would make people's eyeballs explode. He could literally make art from static images armed with nothing but a pen and a couple sheets of paper, much less what he could do with programs not even designed for what he used them for with an almost supernatural ease.
He was also a strong proponent of the free remix culture, of taking inspiration from everywhere and making it your own unique "thing" of taking the rote and corporate and making it flashy and organic.
He will be sorely missed, and the action genre definitely got a little smaller yesterday.
I may not have liked his work but this is just terrible.
Fucking sad times for animation so far this year and we only got past January.
I'm lost for damn words.
I wasn't really the biggest RWBY fan, but even after only seeing a couple of episodes you can totally see the super huge amount of love and care put into it. Monty put his soul into that show.
Utterly heartbreaking to see this dude die so young and so suddenly. Heaven's got another badass animator up there, that's for sure though.
Where are you guys getting the idea he was allergic to latex?
It hurts even more when you read Meg's journal entry:
Today my heart is broken. Monty and I became friends about a year before I started with at Rooster Teeth - actually, he was my first friend at the company. We bonded over cosplay. I was actually contacted about being hired to be in a RWBY cosplay group and I remember being floored at the gorgeous design. Sadly, the job fell through, but we stayed in touch. My favorite thing about Monty was his complete refusal to allow people to give up. Gav shared his side of this story today, and I wanted to share my version, too, because I think it so perfectly illustrates Monty and why I adored him so. So, at PAX in 2013, I went by the Rooster Teeth booth to say hi to Monty. He'd been having some girl troubles and we did a lap around the convention center together before finding a quiet corner to hash out what was bothering him. I gave him my idea of what he should do and then he turned the tables on me. He knew I had a big crush on Gavin and asked me where things were going. I told Monty that I didn't think Gavin was that into me and I wasn't going to push it any further. Monty absolutely refused to let me bitch out. He told me again and again he just knew we'd be perfect together and that Gavin was just shy and I'd have to be the one to go for it. Again, I got embarrassed, blushy - said I couldn't do it. Monty finally let it go and said, "Well, fine. At least walk me back to the RT booth." So I did. And wouldn't you know it the freaking second we walk up to the booth Monty looks at Gavin and says, "Hey, why don't you take Meg for a walk?" I tried to play it cool saying, "Oh no, Monty - he's eating! It's totally cool." and Monty immediately shut me down saying, "He can walk and eat!" Gavin, of course, opted to just throw his entire sandwich away and off we went. The rest, they say, is history, but I always told Monty after that how much I appreciated him playing Cupid and I'm glad I did. He never let me give up. He was always dreaming of something bigger, better, more badass and never let anyone take a step back - but somehow managed to do it with a love and kindness I have never known. He was and will continue to be a source of inspiration and I am comforted only by his own words now:
"I believe that the human spirit is indomitable. If you endeavor to achieve, it will happen given enough resolve. It may not be immediate, and often your greater dreams is something you will not achieve within your own lifetime. The effort you put forth to anything transcends yourself, for there is no futility even in death."
If you haven't read the journal entry that's from, I urge you to take a look at it. You can find it here.
Monty, you threw me into the arms of my greatest love - someone who I never would have had the privilege of loving and being loved by without your tenacious intervention on more than one occasion. I love you, I miss you, and I will never stop striving to make you proud. Rest easy, friend, we've got a lot of DDR to play someday.
Considering all we know is that he passed away due to a severe allergic reaction, we're just guessing, we really don't know for sure.
Man, this is rough. I've been following him since Haloid and Dead Fantasy. Such incredible talent.
I saw that he was hospitalised a few days ago and hope for the best, refreshing Reddit every now and then hoping for a news story of him recovering. Instead, I get the exact opposite.
Monty explains a lot in this video about how he came to be as an animator and employee of Rooster Teeth, I believe. You should take a look if you want. He had an admirable work ethic on top of just being a really good guy. He will certainly be missed.

I legitimately had no idea anything had happened and thought it was a joke when I saw AH post it on facebook. It took me quite a few glances before I even made the connection that 'wait a minute, that's not exactly something they'd joke about.' and read the article.
Hope all is as well as can be with his family.
I really didn't care much for his animation style, but he used to come on the podcast sometimes and he was always great. RIP
That really sucks. I feel bad for everyone at RT. From everything I saw and heard, Monty was a great guy. RIP dude.
Shit that is some awful news, rest in peace Monty.
