this part gave me feels:
I love RO2, but I hate the way you move. Sure, it's "realistic" because that's how you move in real life, but in real life you have way more control over your body. It doesn't work very well in vidya games.
there's nothing to argue with but what your opinion is. i'm not bothering to debate that just laughing at how you feel your view is factual
the things I listed are factual. if they weren't, a fanboy like you clearly would have pointed it out. every flaw I listed is there and nobody can debate that. far cry 3 is a pathetic game designed from the ground up to sell copies to the filth that call of duty flooded the industry with (you).
There's making a point, and then there's being an ass.

I always assumed I liked Far Cry 3 because of it's enjoyable gameplay and freeroam world. Now I find out it's because I'm mentally conditioned to like the game because of Call of Duty. Thank you Bruhmis. I must meditate on these latest developments.
Far cry 3 is a meh game. It's one of those games you play through once (if even that, some actually great game sometimes even steals your attention), say "kinda good game" and never touch it again. I've got same experiences with all Call of Duties.
Tripwire has amazing games. The gun control is brilliant, the teamwork element's are brilliant and the environments are fun.... Red Orchestra 2 sucked though which was incredibly disappointing, it was almost like they were copying the Call of Duty franchise's multiplayer.
Wow I really liked Red Orchestra 2, why do so many people hate it.
Wow I really liked Red Orchestra 2, why do so many people hate it.
I think most people like RO2, or at the very least are more receptive to it than most games. It's just that it had a disastrous launch which took awhile to fix. First impressions matter and for a lot of people their first impression of RO2 was "Wow, I've been playing this game for 2 hours/2 days/2 weeks and almost every game system feels broken". If you want to go in with an assault rifle and a grenade launcher the game will let you do it, but you are also completely able to stealth it, or combine the two playstyles. Some camps I did melee only, others I did bow only, some I sniped from far away, making sure to drop enemies out of the LOS of their buddies. And what do you mean by generic weapons? The game takes place in modern day so obviously it's going to use M4's and AK's and shit.

I beat the story and finished off the base camps in 6 hours. and that's on a playthrough where I went out of my way to see everything in the world. it has nothing. it has an inconsistently written narrative that lasts 8 hours tops followed by roaming around an empty island killing the occasional animal if it suits you. far cry 3 is just as empty as the game it so desperately tries to be.

I can agree with what Tripwire are saying with to an extent. I prefer my shooters to be challenging and have a number of different playing styles (think TF2 with the different classes and loadouts) and even realistic in some circumstances, but there's nothing wrong with having a few rounds on CoD. The problems is CoD is so overhyped to hell and back that everyone jumps on the bandwagon and calls it crap. If anything, it's the community that's the shithole Side note, RO2 is a good game, can't really understand that hate towards it
Call of Duty isn't what is killing the industry; it's the immense amounts of money required to throw around to make a game that make anything particularly interesting. If millions of dollars are going to go into a game, the developers have got to know the game is going to make money, and you do that by not changing much from what already has. It's a shame really, but there's no way around it. That said, Call of Duty has damaged the mainstream gaming community. Casual, could-be-played-by-an-idiot games do that. But the industry that makes these games is what is responsible.

If anything, it's the community that's the shithole Side note, RO2 is a good game, can't really understand that hate towards it
though I agree that most people who criticize it are part of a serious bandwagon, that doesn't mean the game isn't actually bad. it's been going downhill rapidly for a long time. even zombies which seems like a complete no brainer to design has been heavily downgraded in each incarnation. within the multiplayer there exists no form of balance, the single player hasn't changed for the better since call of duty 4, and the cooperative modes which were admittedly great at one time are now the most lazy gimmick you can possibly imagine. people criticize call of duty for being the ''same thing every time'' but if that were true recent titles would at least be *acceptable* games.
Call of Duty as an individual game is not the problem here. The problem is the series. Every game since CoD4 has felt like a reskin. No real change to speak of. So when a CoD player goes and plays something else, there's this one thing that's different and they automatically assume that the entire game is shit just because the game doesn't use a regenerating health mechanic or some silly detail.
