So... They don't mind if you mod SP, aslong as you don't go online with em'
this is much better, as soon as the trainers got released and people enabled them online the game was nearly ruined. Couldn't even just casually drive around the city in any server without having someone teleporting to you and spamming explosions, and dont even get me started with things like death matches and survivals.
Im cool with trainers in sp, but online it saps the fun out of it for me and then you have the people who abuse it.
it also looks terrible?
it does not look terrible. its what people used before DSR. it is basically DSR except without the smoothing option. turn On FXAA for some "fake" smoothing

remember that this stance changes almost daily. But before they were saying no mods FULLSTOP due to the eula.
Why can't they just make it so modders only play with other modders online like in IV? It eludes me as to why they didn't include a proper anti-cheat.
Also FYI the EULA thing everyone is quoting is the same in all software and game licencing agreements pretty much so there isn't really a need to circle jerk about it.

Trainers were the only reason GTA IV online was any fun.
GTA:SA is still alive and thriving on PC, entirely owed to mods. The same is true for GTA:IV.
You'd think Rockstar would want the same thing for GTA:V.
Maybe rockstar dont want people to mod their game because they have plans for Paid DLCs that would otherwise be ruined by mods? I mean most games that have DLCs bundles can never allow mods. Unless they follow the elder scrolls series type of modding.

They're not doing paid DLC for GTA V, instead they're monitizing through Shark Cards. Which is literally buying in game money in Online.
Being banned from online bc of SP modding was a rumour and wasn't confirmed. Now it's just online, so who cares don't use trainers online and you'll be good.
Way to not read what I posted. They clusterfucked SP modding by re-encrypting the game's archives with a new format that basically reset OpenIV's progress back to square one.
Way to willfully ignore over half the post.
Mmm, yeah Facepunchers in general seem to have a pretty bad case of selective reading these days.

Not really? It engages a tedious task, but definitely not square one
I don't see why modding is so bad for singleplayer. Multiplayer sure but single player has always been something modders love.

not when they can make money from..........*sigh* Shark Cards! and pump out overpriced DLC for it still.
Hoping Rockstar do something for this i haven't bought it for the PC yet since i'm still playing with the PS4 version but the only reason i'd want it on PC is for the mods..........
Rockstar never released a bad or overpriced DLC.
None have cost anything for V

I don't know why you people act like R* is really pushing shark cards. The buy page for them is really hidden and they don't really advertise it

And only some not wise person could spend money on them just like some not so wise person would spend money on easy fatalities on newest Mortal Kombat for example.
And only some not wise person could spend money on them just like some not so wise person would spend money on easy fatalities on newest Mortal Kombat for example.
imo they aren't quite comparable, the market they're probably targeting with the shark cards are those with real money, and not much time. World of warcraft has done similar, quite a few people who play the game can't grind out gold because of work, but due to work they have lots of real money leftover, so now they can get some with real money.
For the fatalities uh, I really have no idea, I'd just put them on my other monitor screen if I don't want to forget how to do them, if I didn't have that I could just use a sheet of paper. So I can't quite say that that's for the same demographic. It's probably just part of the milking that game's been doing.
Several times already it had suggested me that instead of doing missions I could also buy those then popping it up.
pops up on the PS4 version all the time on mine.....
It's their game, and they have the right to do this. How difficult can it be to just understand such basic logic?
They're still retarded assholes.

Where's my fuckin refund you capitalist pigs
Long live Canada
Several times already it had suggested me that instead of doing missions I could also buy those then popping it up.
I have literally never had that happen unless I tried to buy something that I didn't have enough money for.

Is anyone saying they don't have the right to do this?

Read an argumment on another forum.
I dont know im finding this a little hard to believe, Like I know people are getting banned for just using it on singleplayer and whatever.
I got the trainer when it first popped up, since I installed it I NEVER launched online just out of safety that it might clock that I have weird files and ban me. To this day I havent been banned once and I still use the trainer as well as the bodyguard mod completely fine?

shark cards - okay
Overpriced DLC? I have not seen that ever from rockstar?
When it comes to DLC for rockstar its not bad actually
(Undead Nightmare, EFLC)

Overpriced DLC? Every single piece of GTA V DLC has been free, and if there is paid content it will be a full length expansion pack or two.....
There's a difference between what Rockstar wants, and what players want.
And since it's purely singleplayer modifications, they can't use the excuse that it ruins the experience of others in multiplayer.
SO Rockstar's being dicks purely for the sake of being dicks, no matter what their EULA says.
Actually they can use the blizzard argument - it ruins a community aspect of the game in terms of achievements. (that actually was their argument against SP mods)
Thank you Rockstar for saving us from paid mods
DLC
I was really looking forward to a First Responder mod for GTA5
Rockstar just needs to separate everything.
Singleplayer: Anything fucking goes
Invite Only sessions: Anything but unlockers fucking goes
GTAO: Your ball court, your rules, Rockstar.
At the very least, start up some official mod scene where you monitor and approve the shit. I want my fucking Heat gun sounds
I want THESE

In GTA5.
Shark Cards are one of the reasons they gave as to why all the DLC has been free so far.
If people buying fake money for real money gets me free content, I'm all for it.
There's a check that runs when you start GTA now, whether it's in singleplayer or multipalyer. Looks for hooks, memory edits, etc.
Proof?
I've seen people say they got banned for using mods in singleplayer, but those are just allegations. Meanwhile, on a multiplayer cheating forum (that I won't link here for obvious reasons), someone who's looked at the anticheat functionality says it appears to only be used in multiplayer (with some technical details, so I'm rather inclined to believe that).
Though if you change your bank balances, those get synced with the servers even in singleplayer, so R* can check who appears to be making a little too much money than they should and ban people for that, without any client-side cheat detection.
The outlook for modding GTA V is looking grim anyway.
Excuse the bad English, but basically what he's saying is that the .rpf files are completely unencryptable. .rpf files allowed texture and model modifications in GTA IV. Sound, too.
First of all, he's not saying creating encrypted RPF archives is harder than before. He's saying that they experimented with making unencrypted RPF files (since they figured out how to decrypt them, but not how to encrypt them) and after the patch the game refuses to load them, so they do have to figure out how to create encrypted RPF archives after all.
Secondly, it's kinda weird he's saying that. No reason they couldn't patch the game to load unencrypted archives anyway.
Well that's a good way to make your customers torrent your game. Not inciting we should. Even if they do ban mods, how are they going to punish you, or even know you are using mods in SP?
I don't understand where people are getting this whole "GTAO is shitty" thing from.
The multiplayer isn't shitty, Rockstar is just being shitty by handling this entire situation the wrong way.
Opinions
and a lot of people don't like freemium grindfests and what one could call "sheduled fun", especially if it's a game you've already paid for
[editline]6th May 2015[/editline]
Rockstar should have made Singleplayer and Online seperate, as people wanted it on PC precisely because of this happening
technically they ARE in the right, but that doesn't make it any less of a dick move
People won't buy GTA6 if you could just mod GTA5, just like how GTA4 negatively impacted the sales of GTA5, right guys?
Well that's a good way to make your customers torrent your game. Not inciting we should. Even if they do ban mods, how are they going to punish you, or even know you are using mods in SP?
Several ways.
The old version of ScriptHook disabled itself when you went into multiplayer. However, the mod itself was still loaded - it just wasn't doing anything. So an anticheat looking for ScriptHook in multiplayer could still find it. The new version, I believe, prevents you from entering multiplayer, so you don't accidentally get yourself banned that way. (The FoV mod, by the way, doesn't check whether it's run in multiplayer - so it works there too)
When you're playing singleplayer, that doesn't mean the game goes offline. It still connects to Rockstar's servers (for Social Club stuff). So there's no reason they couldn't check for mods in it too, and ban you for using them. I don't know whether they do - though as I've stated above, there's reason to believe they don't - but they definitely could.
Technically, even if you disconnect from the Internet entirely (or start GTA in offline mode), the game could scan for mods and send its results when you let it go back online, but it's extremely unlikely it does that.
If this is true then rockstar can go and suck a big fat cock.
