• GTA V PC Completely Bans Mods, Even Single Player Ones. [Rumors]
Several ways. The old version of ScriptHook disabled itself when you went into multiplayer. However, the mod itself was still loaded - it just wasn't doing anything. So an anticheat looking for ScriptHook in multiplayer could still find it. The new version, I believe, prevents you from entering multiplayer, so you don't accidentally get yourself banned that way. (The FoV mod, by the way, doesn't check whether it's run in multiplayer - so it works there too) When you're playing singleplayer, that doesn't mean the game goes offline. It still connects to Rockstar's servers (for Social Club stuff). So there's no reason they couldn't check for mods in it too, and ban you for using them. I don't know whether they do - though as I've stated above, there's reason to believe they don't - but they definitely could. Technically, even if you disconnect from the Internet entirely (or start GTA in offline mode), the game could scan for mods and send its results when you let it go back online, but it's extremely unlikely it does that.
That OnlyOffine parameter (or whatever it's called), to start in Offline mode, is what I've been using since day one. I have no interest in the online portion, I just want to mess around in single-player. So far I've not been informed of any bans. Though I haven't taken my game online since. Perhaps I'm gonna get the ban-hammer if I ever go online. Don't really care either way. The online portion is a shitty grind-fest. And that's coming from someone with 1000+ hours in Warframe.
Though if you change your bank balances, those get synced with the servers even in singleplayer, so R* can check who appears to be making a little too much money than they should and ban people for that, without any client-side cheat detection.
Until hackers use miniguns that shoot money at innocent people to give them unlimited money and consequently get them banned for "cheating"
Until hackers use miniguns that shoot money at innocent people to give them unlimited money and consequently get them banned for "cheating"
My friend had this happen to him. though he hasn't been banned for having 9million yet.
Proof? I've seen people say they got banned for using mods in singleplayer, but those are just allegations. Meanwhile, on a multiplayer cheating forum (that I won't link here for obvious reasons), someone who's looked at the anticheat functionality says it appears to only be used in multiplayer (with some technical details, so I'm rather inclined to believe that). Though if you change your bank balances, those get synced with the servers even in singleplayer, so R* can check who appears to be making a little too much money than they should and ban people for that, without any client-side cheat detection. First of all, he's not saying creating encrypted RPF archives is harder than before. He's saying that they experimented with making unencrypted RPF files (since they figured out how to decrypt them, but not how to encrypt them) and after the patch the game refuses to load them, so they do have to figure out how to create encrypted RPF archives after all. Secondly, it's kinda weird he's saying that. No reason they couldn't patch the game to load unencrypted archives anyway.
The people who probably got banned for SingplePlayer mobs most likely still had the ScriptHook injected in the exe when going in online mode.
My friend had this happen to him. though he hasn't been banned for having 9million yet.
I wish that happened to me.
My friend had this happen to him. though he hasn't been banned for having 9million yet.
It happened to my friend and he quickly spent as much of it as possible. A few days later they removed what he hadn't spent, but he got to keep the vehicles and properties he bought.
Im glad i didn't buy it
Until hackers use miniguns that shoot money at innocent people to give them unlimited money and consequently get them banned for "cheating"
this basically happened to me a couple days ago except he just made it rain money bags over my head. I doubt I'll get banned because I'm pretty sure FROM software is the only developer in the world who's pathetic enough to ban people for that. can't said I'd really care if I got banned from the pile of shit that is GTA online, though.
Update from Rockstar
“I’m having soo much fun with GTAV on the PC but I just have one question about it, how come you are not allowing mods for it?” - @ClarkMatthew63 “Will I get banned from GTA Online for using a FoV Mod or Oculus Rift mod?” - @Mattophobia We have always appreciated the creative efforts of the PC modding community and we still fondly remember the awesome zombie invasion mod and original GTA map mod for GTAIV PC among many other classics. To be clear, the modding policy in our license has not changed and is the same as for GTAIV. Recent updates to GTAV PC had an unintended effect of making unplayable certain single player modifications. This was not intentional, no one has been banned for using single player modifications, and you should not worry about being banned or being relegated to the cheater pool just for using single player PC mods. Our primary focus is on protecting GTA Online against modifications that could give players an unfair advantage, disrupt gameplay, or cause griefing. It also bears mentioning that because game mods are by definition unauthorized, they may be broken by technical updates, cause instability, or affect your game in other unforeseen ways.
http://www.rockstargames.com/newswire/article/52429/asked-answered-the-rockstar-editor-gta-online-updates?utm_source=facebook&utm_medium=social&utm_content=askedandanswered&utm_campaign=asked_05072015
I don't know why people thought GTA V on PC would be some haven for modding. Rockstar clearly doesn't want people doing it and it seems like people assumed it would be easier somehow.
First post nails it. I remember telling people before the release to not get that excited for mods, but everyone was just going on about how much they wanted to mod the online experience and I couldn't help but chuckle at their naivety.

For anyone who was banned by "singleplayer only" mods, there's not really any such thing as SP only mods. The game detects that you have them installed whether you're online or not, and if you're online, then they will ban you, even if you don't use them
I knew it. For anyone who was banned by "singleplayer only" mods, there's not really any such thing as SP only mods. Im pretty sure its something to do with blocking time travel to get date specific dlc's
So R* wised up and decided not to have a PR nightmare [editline]7th May 2015[/editline] if they could just decrypt the files that'd be great ban mods from online all you want tbh i just want my sp mods [editline]7th May 2015[/editline]
First post nails it. I remember telling people before the release to not get that excited for mods, but everyone was just going on about how much they wanted to mod the online experience and I couldn't help but chuckle at their naivety.
then again that still might happen with that one fan made multiplayer just gta 4 style freeraom with mods pure fun
it'd be pretty cool to have the ability to run locally hosted/dedicated servers that don't run off R*'s shards that way we can fuck about with mods online with friends without ruining the experience for everyone else Especially if we ever actually get LSPD:FR, I'd like to have the option to play it online. Buddy cops in GTA 4 was the best
So can I go back to using that FOV mod so I don't vomit while in first person, or should I keep playing it safe?
