Why save a girl who will probably get killed soon? It's true, why the dumbs?
Of course there's a reason behind that question, but the fact is, if you don't try it, you'll never know. Sometimes you just have to make the decision between certain death and the possibility for a better tomorrow. He did it, because he thought it's a right thing to do - and I certainly think it was right to save that child.
Doubtful. The people that are lashing out like that wont hear about stuff like this. This kind of stuff happens frequently. Our troops saving or giving their lives for Afghans but it goes unheard of. If this story only gets mentioned for a single day in America I doubt it will get any traction in the war-torn middle east. This is so heart-wrenching.
People take the news that match their opinions and use them to reinforce said opinions further. I think behaviour like this can be witnessed on both the "apologist" and "persecutor" side of the "Is US doing the right thing in the middle-east" argument. Edit: And to be fair, I don't really believe an american soldier dies every day saving little girls from death. More like they may save some people indirectly by killing enemies who may or may not attack those people later.
Sad thing is the Afghan people will not be thankful for this and continue to do revenge killings over stupid books. He did the right thing to save someone, doing the right thing can be the hardest thing do to. But I feel as if it was such a waste, lets just leave that god forsaken place and let them rot in their own mess.
Throw the weight of the actions of the Afghan people on an innocent little girl, presumably trying to feed her dying family who had nothing to do with the war. That's pretty disgusting
