Special-Ed Student Who Recorded Bullies Accused of Felony Wiretapping

This is just fucking pathetic is there any way they can lawyer up if not this should be brought to the media.
American schools are terrible, and the country in general is getting worse. Felony wiretapping? And we run the biggest, most intrusive, possibly illegal privacy snooping organization the world has ever seen and some poor bullied mentally disabled kid is going to try to be charged with that because he was recording what was happening to him?
Well I guess police should all be charged with felony wiretapping because of their dash cams. I guess all those fuckface Paparazi should also be charged with it. As well as any owner of a building with security cameras. Schools themselves, too, for the cameras in the front of the school Buses and in the hallways of the school
Joke's on you, wiretapping is completely legal if one of the parties involved consents to it.
WRONG
pennsylvania is one of twelve states to be an all-party consent recording state
I'm pretty sure Wiretapping is illegal in all public and private places, while paradoxically putting a camera pointed directly into your neighbor's house to get them busted for indecent exposure is completely legal :v:
Except "wiretapping" is the act of intercepting/recording telephone communications.
the principal said the student was facing felony wiretapping charges because he had made a recording in a place where there is an expectation of privacy.
Hahaha, the principal is a smug cunt. A classroom is the last place you would have expectation of privacy, you wouldn't be telling your darkest most damaging personal secrets in a classroom full of other kids, nor would you be doing anything else you'd only do in your house where you do have expectation of privacy.
If he wants to set a precedent like this, he'd better be charging himself with felony wiretapping for use of CCTV in a place where there's an expectation of privacy.
I've never understood how the hell american schools got like this.
I go to the main public high school in the region, where everyone loves the teachers, the seniors are nice to the 12-year-olds and the school's history has seen a grand total of about five punches thrown. And that's without zero-tolerance or a strict punishment system in place. We even barely enforce our no-weapons policy (hell, my physics teacher used two airsoft guns to teach a lesson the other day.).
Meanwhile, I have never once heard a happy story come out of an american school that wasn't told via a disney musical.
Whoever thought it was a good idea to punish the victim instead of the perpetrators can go hang themselves. Lawful Stupid has no place in the educational system, especially when it comes to the matter of bullying.
The American education system has been broken for decades.
I worked my ass off in HS so I could graduate a year early in 2004 because the school was basically becoming a prison. Every year the school stripped away more student freedom and became increasingly polarized on zero tolerance policy. They basically wanted mindless drones unquestionably follow their "ultimate authority".
I remember this one incident where some kid lit one of those little blue smoke bombs in the cafeteria during the lunch hour in a crowd of like 150 kids. Since the vice principal and teachers present at the time couldn't figure out who did it, they locked down the cafeteria and wrote everyone referrals. Scores of them were sent to the impact center (basically like juvenile hall) and the rest were sent to ISS for like 2 weeks.
technically speaking, that's wiretapping and i can see how one would place these charges
So wait, all forms of audio recording in public are "wire tapping"?
Zero tolerance is the most evil thing that has ever come out of the american education system. It's causing school shootings for fucks sake.
Yet again, American schools manages to put a new low.

In school suspension.
Basically you are in a room for the whole day with no instructor and told to be quiet. Quite relaxing as you have all your school supplies with you. I just drew all day whenever I got it for stupid stuff.
Heck, one time I got an iss for drawing guns on my art class folder. I was forced to remove them and was punished for even drawing them oddly enough.

America doesn't have bullies.
America IS the bully.
Seriously though this bullshit won't stop will it? Yet another reason I moved out of America.

The previous school I went to had something like this, but they made you wear an orange jumpsuit the entire time. I can't make this shit up

No wonder it looked like a prison.
Maybe school shootings wouldn't be a thing if they didn't leave the victims to take matters into their own hands. But that's only assuming that they don't cave mentally first.
Pretty much this.
The mother posted a link to the judge's profile.
You can rate judges on that website either disappointed or impressed.
One of the impressed comments: "I'm pretty stupid. Thanks for letting me know I could be a judge one day."
America's educational system is probably the worst out of all developed countries in the world. This zero-tolerance shit is almost unthinkable in Europe.

Even the passanger gets in trouble

Zero Tolerance. It's basically North Korea's way of dealing with shit only without the executions (Though, they can affect your academic and thus real life careers because of it) So to some people it's just as bad
They're also branching out. They've taken disciplinary action against kids based on Facebook posts that didn't even have anything to do with school
My school had episodes of complete retardation when it came to zero tolerance and punishments. For example once some idiot vandalized the boys bathroom on the second floor. After no one came up and gave themselves in the school obviously toke the intelligent and fair route, closing off ALL the guys restrooms for the entire week. You had to go? Too bad, you had to hold it the whole day. One of the teachers mentioned that it was just a threat it order for the person to give up and that they werent actually going to go through with it.
But what do you know? The kid gave himself in the first day but they continued with the punishment regardless. Mind, We still had a place to go the restroom, but that was an old/small restroom on the far side of the school. If anyone caught you going in there you were given immediate ISS, which you got otherwise because you always arrived late to class after using it because it was "Suspicious"
Tl;dr The school denied us the ability to piss during the whole day as a punishment.
zero tolerance zero brains
kudos to whoever came up with that phrase

There should be a petition to get rid of zero tolerance policies in schools.
I was lucky enough in middle school that if anyone ever tried to pull any shit with me I'd elbow them right in the gut and be done with it.
It hurt them enough that they wouldn't pull any shit and quick enough that no one would ever saw me doing it.
America is so broken now.
If I was the parent I would have countersued for neglect and abuse of a child with disabilities. If you walk into a school administration office and start throwing around terms like "ADA violations," everyone present will immediately shut the fuck up and start sucking your dick.

Signing is rebellion. You will be suspended.

My school schools art classes cover the walls with images of violence in the developing world and anime violence with plenty of guns/tanks, etc.
I really have trouble comprehending how people can function in such a regulated environment.
One example of bullying the federal guidance addresses is what’s called “disability harassment.” Here’s the example they gave of disability harassment: “Several classmates repeatedly called a student with a learning disability “stupid,” “idiot,” and “retard” while in school and on the school bus. On one occasion, these students tackled him, hit him with a school binder, and threw his personal items into the garbage. The student complained to his teachers and guidance counselor that he was continually being taunted and teased. School officials offered him counseling services and a psychiatric evaluation, but did not discipline the offending students. As a result, the harassment continued. This student, who had been performing well academically, became angry, frustrated, and depressed, and often refused to go to school to avoid the harassment.” The Obama administration goes on to say that the school in their example violated federal civil rights laws (i.e., Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973 and TItle II of the Americans with Disabilities Act) because the school failed to fully investigate and remedy the misconduct. The fact that the victim in this example missed school as a result of the harassment appears to be an especially important trigger to the school’s legal responsibilities.
Also can I have a secondary source? I can't find anything about this in local media.
The only realistic solution seems to be to go to school in another country.
Not like you can freely go to another country for 10 years, but... there just isn't any other option.
