it probably wasnt made in a harassing manner
lol
Those really aren't even swords. A sharpened pencil can do more damage than those pieces of dull metal.
lol
=D
I always love seeing this "Disorderly Conduct" law being used way out of its original context. It's like anything that you do that would even remotely get the attention of one person somehow constitutes it. Or doing something that an officer doesn't like gets you thrown in jail. Or perhaps if a cop just wants to lock you up anyways just cause he's a dick. Or perhaps he suspects you did something without enough proof to arrest you and needed an excuse to throw you in jail anyways.
So a broadly worded, exploitable law, that's main purpose was to control the riots between immigrants and nativist groups in 1849, somehow made it's way into the 21st century. What is wrong with American justice system? Don't you guys see shit like this doesn't do anything to get rid of "real" criminals? I always understood laws were designed to make things better, but somehow I have a hard time being convinced this law does anything to "help" make this country a safer place.

Actually, you can easily buy swords in Australia.
Victoria is the only state where you have to apply for a license.
[sp]I get the joke, I'm just pointing it out there for some people.[/sp]
Ouch.
You mean like stopping you and searching you? I'm not sure how it works in the Netherlands, but in the US, the police can't stop you and demand that you show ID (excluding Arizona) because that is not probable cause. Then again, I may be taking what you said out of context.
The guy I quoted was saying it was a problem that he didn't have identification on him, I know that since 9/11 and all the terrorist threat shit afterwards police in the netherlands can demand that you show ID, and because of what snuwoods said I assumed the police in the US could too.
that's some dumb shit
that's some dumb shit
Well I think it looks really stupid. But then again, it is their choice.
It would be acceptable if someone wanted to look like an argonian for the rest of their life, so they had those fin things implanted into their skull and had their body tattoo'd along with a nose job and contacts.

If you're white and upper middle class, and born in america.
Am I the only one that misread the thread title?
Gah, I entered this thread and to pass the time I decided to read EVERY SINGLE POST on the first page and rate them according to what I honestly think.
Makes me realize how much I just skim threads
That was a good thing to say for the police, I would have been laughing if I was there.
What the fuck is wrong with the police nowadays?
Eh, I wouldn't generalize too much, how about that one cop who bought some cookies for a kid and moments later was shot in the head for no reason other than him doing his job. It was on the news just this morning. Although, the one in this article is a pig, I mean it's dangerous to have swords on the street even if you have the intention of using them for entertainment, someone else might attack you for them. This officer approached it wrong and then on top of that was a dick when he brought the guy in.
