Some rich douche recently pointed out on TV that he "barely gets by on $400,000".
That was with taxes and paychecks and other costs already deducted from it.
Makes me wonder what the hell kind of lives do they lead anyway... Chew on some jewels for breakfast and take a dump in their golden toilets?

'Nuff said.
Mexicans see their country is shit, Americans see their country is shit, move to Canada.
Then Mexicans start going back to mexico going "Oh fuck this!"
It's going to be like in south park. Without cheap mexican workers people won't be able to support themselves.
But if nothing changes, many people will leave america, which makes sense. I wonder what will happen with smaller companies, will they move too?
What really? That's even more fucked up. I mean sure you could get less than 30k on a shitty job, but TWO? Economy is getting worse by the hour. I also love how the rich instead of losing actually profited from this.
Minimum wage in America is terrible. Here in Canada our minimum is pretty darn good IMO at an average of $9.72 an hour but most employers will pay more than that and if they don't they offer timely pay raises for doing your work. My second last employer said it was really hard to hire someone for less than $10 an hour.
Do you even need to ask that? I mean if you need to think about that for more than 2 seconds, you don't know the Republicans.
It was more of a rhetorical question. Of course I already know the answer.
More and more people will get angry about this and all of the rich people and high up government will just leave the U.S. to let us all die.
I didn't realize that average wages were that low. Fucking ridiculous.
I have a bad feeling America is just going to be destroyed from within, like rome.

What bothers me is that shit didn't JUST get real. Shit has been getting real for a while now and yet we haven't seen any real shit getting really cleaned up.
Shit's shitty.
You know what would raise the average? Getting rid of illegal immigrants that work for pennies on the dollar.
What i understand is that those illigal immigrats are doing all the jobs you Americans think it's too dirty for you, something that is in every country including my own.
Instead of continieusly complaining about those that are in need of money, look to the ones with loads of money and doing nothing with it exept facefeeding themselfs.
Fuck this I'm moving to Mars.
I wish we could live in a world where greedy and corrupted wouldn't get elected.
It would be a paradise on earth.

As long as people are given some sort of power, there will always be greed.

Ah, that's the issue though. We used to have those jobs back in the 60's, until farmers realized they could indeed import workers into the United States. It's not the fact that the jobs are "too dirty" (come on, I think we're a bit tougher than that) it's the fact that under federal law, farms don't have to pay minimum wage because it's seasonal work. That means that if they did have to start paying hundreds of people minimum wage, it would badly damage the already bare-minimum profit that they have. If this happened, they would nationally raise prices, which everyone would object to, and less people would buy their goods. It's an issue that's come to bite us in the ass because if we give amnesty to illegal immigrants, a large amount of people will be outraged. It's a very confusing and complicated issue.
Even with 8 hours of overtime at my job, I'm still making less than 800 every 2 weeks.
I knew I should have claimed dependency.

that sucks a lot man, I hope that the next generation Americans don't need to go through this bullshit.
i'm sick and tired of republicans, i wouldn't be surprised if hell ensued if one of the republicans were made president.
Don't worry guys the wealth will trickle down.

There is absolutely 0 chance of a Republican becoming president/Republican majority in congress/house next year if your country wants a chance at existing for another 4 years.

Not just farms, but construction jobs as well. Around here, it's usually dairies that hire people like that, and they DO pay more than minimum wage.
This sucks. I grew up with the comfort that my generation will be like my parent's. Able to find a nice paying job, afford a nice car and cruise all about my state. Go to college and then buy a nice home. Sounds nice doesn't it? How untrue that is. Most people my age around my town in their early 20's aren't able to do anything and just result to drugs and alcohol, it's really sad and you all know what it's like.
My parents work in the healthcare industry, taking care of the sick and needy. What scared me the most was that everyone thought even the healthcare industry wouldn't get affected, but in reality, everyone gets hit. So now we live below our means. Man, it was great like four years ago. We had a house, two Mercedes luxury cars and money was overflowing. Now it's barely dripping and it's hard for me to even find a simple cafe job now; there are people in their 40's applying with their amazing credentials and it just fucks over the youth. We have had our home foreclosed and our cars taken away.
I'm not giving up hope though, I want to go to college and sustain myself. But you can't help but have doubts the way our own elected leaders are acting on behalf of their own shit. Just shows you the bigger picture, as if something big is about to happen and they're all just saving their own asses before it's too late; a facade.

I really cannot see anyone from the GOP getting elected president anytime soon, but Obama needs to stop piddling around minor issues and get to the heart of the problems. All the polls that show Americans agree with the sentiment of the 'Occupy' protests and that they think tax loopholes for people like derivative traders and other stock marketeers should be closed.
Closing tax loopholes for millionaires favored by ~73% of Americans:

You're aware that nationwide protests are currently going on, right?
I love reading the news, always such happy things to report. Economy is doing well, politicians are more concerned about advancing the country rather than their paychecks, and the income gap is smaller than ever.

We are quickly spiraling towards some sort of revolution. Should prove interesting.

Sounds like me, totally. caps and everything.
Though I'm not 100% on the rules and regulations of it, but I'm fairly sure Obama has the power to issue Executive Orders.
I really think he should use this power in an attempt to override Congress (mainly the reps in congress) and work on pulling us out of this ditch.
I do know that Executive Orders can be overridden by the Supreme Court or a Senate Bill that conflicts with it, but hopefully the courts will agree and Congress will refrain from action, especially since in this case the action would be blatantly detrimental to the welfare of our country.
The only reason executive orders have not been challenged in the Supreme Court (and they would lose) is because they've never been something that Congress wouldn't have approved in the first place.

Sorry it sounded like you were following me from another thread where I was trying to advocate a flat tax, and then gave up because arguing on a board that is primarily liberal is pointless.

The problem with revolutions is that they leave years to be cleaned after. I think soon for at least some years america will live in really shitty conditions which might or might not improve in the future.
