• Donald Trump wants to ban the internet, will ask Bill Gates to ‘close it up’

Somewhere in the world, in one of Bill Gate's many mansions, there is a faucet with a guard in front of it.
Imagine in Trump was a dictator
I'm a terrorist because I have an opinion that differs from yours. Wow, cool logic.
You obviously support Trump, so that means you support his stances and his propositions. Let's look at one of those, shall we? Quote from Trump about climate change in his interview with radio talk-show host Hugh Hewitt: "And actually, we’ve had times where the weather wasn’t working out, so they changed it to extreme weather, and they have all different names, you know, so that it fits the bill. But the problem we have, and if you look at our energy costs, and all of the things that we’re doing to solve a problem that I don’t think in any major fashion exists. I mean, Obama thinks it’s the number one problem of the world today. And I think it’s very low on the list. So I am not a believer, and I will, unless somebody can prove something to me, I believe there’s weather. I believe there’s change, and I believe it goes up and it goes down, and it goes up again. And it changes depending on years and centuries, but I am not a believer, and we have much bigger problems." Definitely a peerless meteorology expert and a true decider of what is and what isn't a problem, and it seems like global warming isn't one! Thank god we don't have to worry about the temperature of the earth rising at an alarming rate for the past 100 years! Look, I know you're just a guy with a differing opinion, and that seems to be the real criteria for a victim these days. Anyone who quotes Trump word for word about his outlandish and ignorant propositions is obviously a drone for the dreaded Media, even though his brash and boldness you so dearly admire leaves very little room for interpretation. Now, let's quote Trump word-for-word in that speech of his: "... we are losing a lot of people because of the Internet, and we have to do something. We have to see Bill Gates and a lot of different people that really understand what's happening. We have to talk to them, maybe in certain areas, closing the Internet up in some way. Huh. What exactly is being misconstrued here? He is literally saying to close up the Internet, and you have the audacity to smugly sit there and say "Peh, it's just another case of the liberal media misinterpreting his words!" Now, be real with me here. What exactly did he mean when he suggested we close up the Internet? Did he mean just to terrorists, or...? And what was his intention when he straight-up mocked people who would find his proposition to be a free speech issue? I thought free speech was supposed to be a treasured concept in this country, especially to people who support Trump because he speaks his mind. Now it seems we can ignore the discrepancies and the facts and stay in our little anti-PC safe space, right?
I love how people can choose to believe or not believe facts from scientific organizations.
The only thing that could have made this better is if he said "that ol' internet" instead of "that internet"
oh my god it's just like that one IT crowd episode about the Internet
Great! Now I have to choose between the second amendment or the first. Is there even a candidate that will allow me to have both?
Haha
Great! Now I have to choose between the second amendment or the first. Is there even a candidate that will allow me to have both?
Well if you're a white Christian, Trump will let you keep both
okay now he obviously has no idea what he's talking about, the effects on the economy of doing something like this would be catastrophic the only people who could possibly think this is a good idea are those old parent-types who think that the internet is limited solely to video games and anime fanboards and the like businesses rely on the internet now, as do colleges, government and international correspondence, et cetera also just saying this is political suicide, no matter where you are on the political spectrum if you've ever used the internet you cant possibly want to vote for this guy

Seriously though Trump doesn't have a chance.
I feel like a grand total of 3 people in this thread actually read past the headline.
If this man becomes a president, the states will be fucked for generations to come.
Wait, in the video doesn't he say "We need to shut down thoseparts of the internet" I'm pretty sure Donald Trump means shutting down shit like ISIS propaganda profiles and recruitment sites, not the whole internet. Trump may be stupid but he does at least know that the internet has a big role economically and to even suggest to shut it down would be idiotic.

Which is what he probably means is those parts. Still, something about this whole thing doesn't settle right with me. It seems like a great setup for McCarthyism 2.0.
we're actually all taking him out of context, he's actually doing it to be ironic
He isn't saying "remove the internet" yet people come in here, frothing at their mouth, ready to post the wildest hyperboles about what he's going to ban next. You can disagree and argue against him without having to distort what he says. Doing the latter will just make it easier for him to refute your points. I don't agree with him at all, but feel free to portray me as a nazi trump supporter if you'd like to.
does he ever acknowledge the insane amount of money is made in this country through the internet, and how saying kill the internet is like saying kill a large portion of jobs in the country?
Some remind me why we're giving this man attention?
Some remind me why we're giving this man attention?
You posted in the thread, why not illuminate us.
Wait am I reading this right? No more shitposting yanks on my webs with Trump? Welp #Trump2016
I stuck with a positive opinion of Trump even after the Muslim debacle, this is just what
What I find truly alarming is that he is met with roaring applause.
What I find truly alarming is that he is met with roaring applause.
The people who follow Trump know Jack shit about the internet, and will automatically assume what Trump is saying is true because he's a billionaire and billionaires cannot be wrong in their eyes.
You hear that? It's the sound of Trump digging himself into an even deeper hole, with an excavator.
You know every day he is drifting away from being a clown to a complete idiot sans helmet to protect what is left of his brain.
Great! Now I have to choose between the second amendment or the first. Is there even a candidate that will allow me to have both?
Well, if Third Parties were given a chance, then you could have both. Instead it's ban guns because they are scary, or ban the internet for the kids sake. Truthfully people on both sides have been against both. Some "progressives" get offended over free speech, and there are Fudd Republicans.
Arent ISIS's major social networking outlets already cut off by the providers themselves anyway? Im pretty sure theyve gotten banned from Twitter multiple times. Even Telegram banned a lot of ISIS's public channels.
