i think it's our responsibility to call out and attack bigoted speech. just don't use the legal system to regulate it.
im pretty conflicted with this, I dont think there should be hate speech on a public service
im pretty conflicted with this, I dont think there should be hate speech on a public service
Hate speech has been on public services since the dawn of the US. See: Any propaganda from the South and North around the Civil War; the Red Scare during the Cold War; anti-Japanese propaganda from WWII (not counting internment camps because that isn't speech at all) I suppose hate speech from the North towards the South was also a thing around the Civil War. So that too.
im pretty conflicted with this, I dont think there should be hate speech on a public service
i don't think there should be any form of advertising on a public service personally.
This really makes me mad. Can someone post that red image of the dude's face being really mad or whatever for me? I don't have it.
You rang?
i don't think there should be any form of advertising on a public service personally.
It's certainly not a nice thing to buy ad space for, but this is why I brought up the political signs in people's yards. Your yard is private property sure, but when your sign is right next to a a public roadway, it still gets seen by everyone around, just like the bus signs. And can you imagine how much a "VOTE THE BIBLE" sign makes me want to drive into a wall? Still, I have to defend the right to put the sign up because it gives me the freedom to say "Look at this asshole" and then decide not to be that person. But yeah, actually ON the public service itself, that is kinda different, certainly more in your face. I don't know how the law applies to this. If it were a private bus company running these ads on their buses, it would be a lot easier to accept.
ugh this world makes me depressed, but then I think of all the nice, peaceful areas that aren't invaded with hicks, idiots, bigots, racists, extremists.. Then I think that it will probably be destroyed, bombed, or have blood flowing through it's soil some day, quite possibly before or after I pass. Then I get depressed again. Fuck.
im pretty conflicted with this, I dont think there should be hate speech on a public service
The problem is, not all hate speech is noticeable as hate speech, and some people might not consider some speech to be hateful. Since there isn't an immediate danger involved with hate speech you can be setting a dangerous precedent by censoring something on some possible danger at a later time.
Because otherwise we'd be one step away from godless communism and/or muslims. AHAHAHA you are living in a fucking fantasy land.
Old picture showing contradictions in the bible. Wouldn't be surprised in the slightest if the Koran is the same way.
Sweet rave party.
i don't think there should be any form of advertising on a public service personally.
i get where you're coming from, but I disagree, personally I think we should throw ads on school buses n stuff, my school already had drink machines so I don't see how throwing the same ads on a bus is going to hurt
wow man you sure owned that fictitious character you made up i bet he's crying fake tears
There is a good reason why the ACLU supports neo-nazi hate groups.
i don't agree with the idea of a public service endorsing any viewpoint, individual, or product. i would prefer if our public sector would stay neutral. that's a fat chance though.
Yeah, but products are already all over the textbooks and lunchrooms. If they schools can get some money to help kids by putting up some ads, so what?
Yeah, but products are already all over the textbooks and lunchrooms. If they schools can get some money to help kids by putting up some ads, so what?
yea and i don't think they should be all over the textbooks and whatnot as well. i pretty consistently hate the idea of schools, buses, etc. endorsing products or ideology in any way.
yea and i don't think they should be all over the textbooks and whatnot as well. i pretty consistently hate the idea of schools, buses, etc. endorsing products or ideology in any way.
Yeah, you're right. I'm probably being naive.
im 100% for free speech no matter who it offends but i'm 100% against govt. supporting one groups views over another, so actually i guess as long as the muslims are allowed to put their shit on buses then the fuckwits can too, but i'd prefer neither being allowed.

Interesting how the lead rating was winners this morning but now it's boxes. I was wondering why a seemingly bad thing was marked as being good. They should have just done like in London and said "screw your freedom of speech, we're exercising our freedom to say no."
"Do not let your hatred of a people incite you to aggression."
Those inhuman sons of bitches.
