So hold on - the guy who wasn't actually appointed the new prime minister says that Crimea should break away? He doesn't have that power, right?
It doesn't matter he is the defacto authority. Laws were supposedly broken in Kiev too, but it doesn't matter because they were in charge.
I can't find news of this anywhere else but this source. I'd take this with a grain of salt for now.
Yeah, they asked Kiev today if they could, and Kiev was like "Lol Nope"
"your new goverment illegally seized control of the country!" says the new goverment that is illegally seizing the country...
This calls for..
So do the maps change now?
So that explains why Russian soldiers were digging trenches there a while ago :v: (although if it wasn't for this small part here Crimea would actually be it's own island, I think)
i believe a chain of 25 kiloton bombs detonated there could make a safe-passage and also make the crimean islands [editline]4th March 2014[/editline] i am totally an expert on this (i'm totally not)
come on britain send in the redcoats enough is enough the tsar needs teaching a lesson
Most of Crimea is ethnic Russian.
They'll probably choose independence over a joining of Russia.
come on britain send in the redcoats enough is enough the tsar needs teaching a lesson
The light brigade will make quick work of those Russian conscripts.
This calls for..
Hi, U.S. Citizen here, we're fucking tired from Thirteen years in desert combat with fanatics using Cold War Weapons against our spaceman lasers. We don't want to send our people into another war zone, especially with an ex enemy nation were were against for half the 20th century, and risk the whole thing going World War and maybe Nuclear.
come on britain send in the redcoats enough is enough the tsar needs teaching a lesson
Only if this gets played across the UK and Russia.
Honestly, this is all starting to turn into some crazy gambit you'd see in a Civ 5 game.
Then its only a matter of time before Ghandi turns up with his words backed by nuclear weapons to sort the whole crisis. DAMMIT
This guy is so desperate for some Russian dick its not even funny Literally gagging for the sausage We can't send the redcoats in all the muskets got wet in the floods so we need another week to dry them out.
Courts overruling courts overruling courts overruling courts. This shit is ridiculous! :v: "Your decisions are illegitimate because you are not the legal government!" "Oh yeah? Well we're leaving and forming our own government, which makes YOU illegitimate!" "You can't do that! You're not legitimate enough!"
No self determination allowed.
There's a legal process that needs to be upheld, just because more people want to be part of russia than not doesnt mean russia can just invade and take things over
Cold War 2: Electric Boogaloo
Soo the post rate is going down. Is it ending?
Soo the post rate is going down. Is it ending?
It's become such a standoff, the national reserves of Corn have run empty.
I do hope Crimea becomes independant. All democratic countries talk about recognizing their citizen's needs and wants and they need to recognize that Crimea doesn't want Ukraine's new leadership. It'd be hypocritical to not let them choose their own leaders but let Kiev do it. The nationalists probably also see themselves as doing only what they did in Kiev and occupy government buildings but why they took airports is beyond me. Though I will admit Russia itself definitely could've handled the whole situation better but Ukrainian military does need to leave Crimea, they're really not a welcome sight.
What will happen to Kazantip festival now? YOu really wanna cheack out the pics on google image search guys.
1814.1914.2014??? Is history fucking with us? 2014 has not even began and it's already making history like no other in modernity... Alot of countries will pursue nuclear arming after those events in ukraine. They gave up their nukes after the biggest world powers agreed that nobody will invade and they'll be safe. It seems like words won't count for much for some countries now;countries wich had been incredibly hard to persuade to give up their nukes(like Iran) So things are gonna get heated up most deffinetly, even if Ukraine would miraculously get well. Russia invading crimea will leave a strong footprint in the policymaking and military actions in the middle east.

I get what you're saying though. A referendum for independence needs to happen if that's what they want. I don't think we've heard the people yet though.

It is Ukrainian land and the Ukrainian military shouldn't have to pull out of their own land because Russia wants to bully them out of it. This is a totally medieval way of taking territory, just occupying a region until everyone agrees its yours now, the world shouldn't work like that anymore. [editline]5th March 2014[/editline] Sure hold a referendum but only after Russia withdraws its soldiers, let the people decide what they want without gangs of Russian soldiers patrolling the streets.
Is that even legal. How will the international community respond?
the idea that "you can't claim independence because its illegal" is fucking laughable tbh the american revolution was illegal as well as its independence

Pretending to de-nuke and then when everyone's defenseless, start invading. Sounds crazy enough for put-putin to do.
the idea that "you can't claim independence because its illegal" is fucking laughable tbh the american revolution was illegal as well as its independence
Except for the part that British forces were thrown out and gave up the fight. That's what legitimizes it. During our Civil War legally no states seceded because a state can only leave the Union either through a vote of all states, or through successful revolution. Basically, just because they said they left didn't mean they actually did. You're going to find similar circumstances in most other countries and I imagine Ukraine will be the same way.
the idea that "you can't claim independence because its illegal" is fucking laughable tbh the american revolution was illegal as well as its independence
The U.S. was recognized by multiple world powers and successfully conducted a revolution and ousted the British.
I wodner what happened the last time there was a Crimean War...
