The Explorer versions of Google Glass are in the hands of select developers who were prepared to go through a lottery and pay up the $1,500 (about £927, AU$1,561) for the joy of early access - and Google has confirmed that these people can 'swap out' their existing hardware for the updated version if they sign up within 60 days. "We'll be offering a one-time optional swap out for Explorers who purchased their device before October 28, 2013," the company explained on the official Google Glass Google+ account.
The earbud is cool, but I hope they make a left side version. I don't know if I'm the only one or not, but I have this thing with single earbuds in my right ear in particular. Whenever I get a sound in my right ear only, it sends this weird sensation up my spine and it makes me flip the fuck out. Edit: Now that I actually read up on how bone conduction works, that actually solves this problem.
That's fantastic that it's a simple unit swap instead of having to pay again.
Hallelujah!
This is going to be so sweet when it comes out.
How long until we see something like the CrossCom from Ghost Recon advanced warfighter.
Even with the tiny fucker of an earbud it still looks really cool.
Yeah, I would be more interested in picking up the Google Glass if I could have prescription glasses with it. Though what would be even better, would be a "Glass attachment" that would enable me to fit the Google Glass onto my existing frames (or at least most standard designs). THAT would sell me. [sp] Oh wait. SOLD![/sp]
I want one so badly. Shame it's still so expensive.

cool but the thing still looks ridiculous on a person. they need to make it less noticeable
cool but the thing still looks ridiculous on a person. they need to make it less noticeable
add some bulk or something to the other side of the head so it looks more like regular glasses
Glad they rolled out the glasses update. Been waiting for the prescription glasses part to become official, I'll be trying to get my hands on one as soon as they release to the public
I bet we'll laugh at the design ten years later.
Rumor has it they'll be retailing for 300$ in the first quarter of 2014. [editline]29th October 2013[/editline] Google has said that perscription is coming soon!
cool but the thing still looks ridiculous on a person. they need to make it less noticeable
no doubt people like you said the same thing about sunglasses and wrist watches when they were first invented of course they will look a bit different at first

single earbuds are my personal hell to be honest
I'll take bone conduction sound over an earbud, thank you
u tihnk this is A GMAE fisher
I hope they make a version for sunglasses, 'cause I want these but don't wear glasses.
single earbuds are my personal hell to be honest
It makes sense on a device like this, considering it uses both what you hear externally and internally, so only using a single earbud seems more appropriate for this compared to say, a mobile phone.

I assume the Glass can be flipped for left-side use? Because there are people out there with no right eye (or little in my case) vision, and that would be quite the design flaw :v: Doesn't look like the earbud would work as well on the left mind.
Still looks like a medical device to me.
I'm a glass explorer, Can't wait to swap next month. Can check out my Google+ Profile for campaign photos and other stuff I do with it. Pic of me driving the other day [thumb]http://i.cubeupload.com/epOUAb.jpg[/thumb]

Until they make some dedicated left eye version, you can't use your left eye.

But seriously, that is quite a design flaw. I understand how the projection works might make it more of a pain, but it'd still be possible to implement without a dedicated model. And mounting really shouldn't have ever been an issue.
single earbuds are my personal hell to be honest
Using two earbuds would make you unable to hear what's happening around you. One of the reasons for the bone conducting speaker was to make it so that you wouldn't have your hearing impaired when using glass, as opposed to using earbuds. There's no plans directly for a both sides version, The V2 will still be right side only. Cool thing is the color swap with the explorer program. And we get to keep the original boxes and etc! And I have two original boxes :v:
