They make some high quality bitchin' pellet rifles these days, and they're cheap. Buy your kid those
Mine might have a plastic shroud, but it's super nice. Fires pellets and BBs as well.
I feel like gun control supporters are expected to know the intricacies of every individual model of gun and their various attachments and accessories before daring to even think about weighing in on the debate
I don't expect them to be experts, I am not even an expert, but I expect them to know the basics. If I took a shot every time I saw "assault rifle" used to describe civilian semi-automatic rifles, I'd still be hammered.

I thought the "Videogames cause violence" meme ended in like 2005
Do you also froth at the mouth when someone says "clip" instead of "magazine"?
do you seriously not think that people should know what the fuck they're talking about before making legislation
Do you also froth at the mouth when someone says "clip" instead of "magazine"?
What's with all these stupid "Gotcha!" type posts in all these gun related threads?
do you seriously not think that people should know what the fuck they're talking about before making legislation
They literally only need to know high level economics information of the effect of gun control on gun violence; knowing how the guns themselves work shouldn't be important past fire rate and magazine size and maybe a couple other metrics.
They literally only need to know high level economics information of the effect of gun control on gun violence; knowing how the guns themselves work shouldn't be important past fire rate and magazine size and maybe a couple other metrics.
uh if you're trying to ban weapons based on features I think you should know what the fuck you're actually talking about trying to ban
uh if you're trying to ban weapons based on features I think you should know what the fuck you're actually talking about trying to ban
I mean those features are what I listed. Fire rate and magazine size are basically the only two that really matter, though I guess ammunition itself (Teflon coated bullets) is also a concern.
Why give guns to teachers? Why not just hire proficient security services and arm them.
I mean those features are what I listed. A coating on ammunition will not give it kevlar defeating capablities that's just some scare-tactic bullshit lol
Why give guns to teachers? Why not just hire proficient security services and arm them.
Many schools already have what are called "Resource Officers" basically police officers assigned to a school who deal with serious fights or drug related issues. People aren't saying that teachers should all be given guns, rather, that teachers who already have concealed carry licenses outside of school should be able to continue to carry their weapons while teaching, for added security.
Should the teachers be mandated to carry firearms/be trained in such in first place? I just personally think the issue isn't at guns, either "too lax gun control"/"not enough guns", but compounding issues with mental healthcare, school environments, etc. If people want a gun to shoot at school, they are most likely gonna get it (unless dissuaded by effort, but frankly, if someone is gonna shoot up a school, they probably won't - if they are, they probably go for stabbings) and just giving gun to everyone won't help it either, I think. You won't get Clint Eastwoods shooting up would-be school shooters. It is very utterly American issue, and I see everyone just instantly tunnel-visioning on guns every time something like this happens.

All they have to do is stand around and yell that guns are bad, try and pass some legislation, and if it doesn't work, they get to say well we tried, if it does then they get what they want. Actually fixing the root of the problem would require actual work and research, and nobody wants that. Why try and change zero-tolerance policies at schools and boost mental health awareness and treatment if you can just yell that guns are bad and violent video games corrupt children? None of them really give a shit when it comes down to it, they just want people to think they're trying to fix things without actually doing anything about it.

It's not one or the other, the best approach would be to address all causes.
Why give guns to teachers? Can't wait till this is dead on arrival. Supreme Court hates your shit.
I guess ammunition itself (Teflon coated bullets) is also a concern.
Uh? What's so special about those?
do you seriously not think that people should know what the fuck they're talking about before making legislation
He wasn't arguing about how guns work he was arguing about what someone calls a specific type of gun. Semantics at best really. Outright petty if you're being honest about it.
