Thirteen New Solutions to the Three-Body Problem Discovered

Yeah it's a little out of just about everyone's mathematical know-how for the past 250 years.
They only find specific solutions, nothing general.
[QUOTE=mblunk;39861678]I tried to see if Universe Sandbox held the solution.

That actually ties in really well to this video I saw this morning of an astrophysicist trying to use Universe Sandbox to build binary, trinary and quadernary star systems. Has a little about three body problems as the end.

I know it may seem like just a generic let's play, but this guy knows his stuff and it should serve as a good explanation about the basics of these multiple body problems for the uninitiated.

Their mathematical functions must be a nightmares.

Well that was informative, but also a disappointing amount of him bitching about being too careless to use the interface. Everything he wanted to do was possible, he just kept messing up. I've been trying to see if I can create the figure-8 orbit, and I've gotten close by extracting and editing save files, but I'm missing some orders of magnitude or something, because I can get the objects in the right positions and with the right direction of motion, but they either fly off or just fall into each other.

Got it!

My favorite was when he selected his one system, deleted it, and blamed the UI for deleting it.
So wait like 2 chicks at the same time?

Is that stable though? Looks like it's precessing slightly.

It falls apart after 5 minutes or so, I'd have to tweak their masses to get them permanently (or at least more) stable.

So infinity looks different, I guess. :v:
