u just dont get it dai, the message is too deep
To be entirely fair, Banksy pieces are known for being vandalized. If it was moved to some sort of safer building (the article says it was in a rougher area of town, and it was moved to a youth center), then it's being protected from vandals. That's a good thing.
Yeah but if the dude wanted his art to be kept safe in some building then he wouldn't paint it on street walls.
That's just how street art is; it doesn't last forever but it makes the place look nicer while it's there.
Bansky's "Art" deserves no special treatment, vandalism is vandalism and it should all be treated as such

completely against the spirit of the art. Remember that if he wanted to have stuff in a gallery, he'd be making regular art.
'We need to raise £120,000 to stay open and we thought it would be a good idea if we put it on display and people could throw in a few pounds to see it.
'People were a bit adverse at first but they seem to be coming around to us and realise we are doing it to help a good cause.

The arrogance is fucking toxic

i wouldnt complain about it being shallow, it's a strong message that's well illustrated.
art doesn't have to be deep - and it's street art, so being obvious and in your face is a virtue.
people are going to be walking past it quickly, not musing like in a gallery.
His art lies in presentation and reaction, not the message between.
Not all art is uniform. Sometimes art needs to be in your face. Yeah, it's made to be consumed by people who have no interest in art, but that doesn't make it bad.
it kinda just makes the critics look like snobs.
i never really got the reason why bansky art is so important that everything he makes is treated like a relic
he just puts stencils on random buildings, what makes him stand out from all the other graffitists?

But look, Dai:

It's Pulp Fiction! You've seen Pulp Fiction, right? It's that, but -- with bananas! Instead of guns! Whoa! And those policemen -- they're snogging! Snogging! You can't get much more mind-blowing than that.
It's good that they moved it to a safer place but not good that they're charging you to view it.
I remember seeing a cell phone ad that looks much alike
I remember seeing a million half-assed Facebook photos on my feed that look like this.
But seriously, what's so great about Banksy? "Oooh, he's so mysterious!" Fuck you. So is D.B. Cooper.
... maybe... no... D. B[anksy]. Cooper...?
"you are free to come and see it
but a small donation will be asked of you"
saying that they're charging to see it is like saying that salvation army santas are charging you for entrance to walmart during christmas time
From my experience, this is legitimately just a nice way to say "if you want to see it you gotta pay or you have to leave".
Just like how for most museums around where i live i'm completely free to visit them on sundays, but they will ask me for a donation. If i decline to donate they do not permit me to enter.
