This whole situation is a bunch of shit. Everyone just hated her because she took down the fathate subreddit or whatever it was called. Even if they did make up reasons for them to hate her after that fiasco was done.
You clearly have no idea what you're talking about. People wanted Pao out way before FPH was taken down. Reddit has had longstanding issues with a clique made up of "power mods" who control dozens (and sometimes 100+) subreddits. They've been actively participating in hostile takeovers of other communities, where they clamp down on the community with tumblr-esque "safe space" rules. Suddenly a community where you've been posting for years bans you for saying "moron" (because that's ableist) and then you get banned from dozens of unrelated subreddits because the same mod is on the team for all of them.
Pao didn't create the situation, but the users hated her because she reinforced and supported it. She gave more tools and authority to the power mods and encouraged them to continue wrecking communities because she wanted to "clean up" the site's image to make it more appealing to investors. Thousands of users were jumping ship to rival sites before FPH was ever removed.
Also, the removal of FPH was only a controversy because the rules weren't being enforced uniformly. People couldn't care less about FPH; in fact they questioned why the admins were keen to ban a fat-hating community while allowing a racist community like /r/coontown to go on. The admins insisted it was about behavior- concentrated harassment and brigading on the part of the FPH subscribers, but this is bullshit because those same admins are known to turn a blind eye to /r/shitredditsays (SRS) which does the same exact stuff because the SRS mods are basically central to the power mod fiasco I described above, and the originators of the "safe space" policies on Reddit.
Reddit as a community is deeply sick and has been for a long time, and needs leadership that can restore its original qualities. Pao was never that leader and so she never gained the support of the community.
Literally a few posts above you, but she promised more transparency and free speech before banning a fuckload of oddly specific subs for "harassment". A lot of people were pissed off, for example, that she would ban FatPeopleHate and not Coontown(racist as shit sub) or PicsOfDeadKids
Actually spez explained the reason why fph was banned but not coontown.
FPH's mods were completely complacent with the brigading the sub had done to other subs. The even brigaded suicide watch on one occasion.
Coontown is very isolated, they joke about others but in general do not do anything outside of their sub, or in his words "quarantined"

They brigaded suicide watch? Jesus fucking christ.
Just curious, what about subs like SRS? I've been hearing stories of their brigades lately.

SRS as a subreddit is dead, since they have admins and ex-reddit employees that informed them about the changes that got FPH banned they went offsite and do all of their brigadey shit from IRCs and stuff. It's kinda pathetic really.
Jesus, now that's a great leap forward. Shadowbanning has always been fantastically bullshit. Especially since some subreddits used it to their advantage to shadowban users just because they subscribed to a sub the mods didn't appreciate.
mods can't shadowban users though.

you are thinking of a regular ban
mods can't shadowban users though.
Mod and admin collusion has been alleged, and in a number of cases documented, repeatedly for years.
There may be confusion between a subreddit ban and a shadowban, but certain mods definitely had more of an ear with the top than others.
so are you saying that mystery mods requested the admins to shadowban people and they did? because i have never heard of that.
