So, your argument is that because he can do it, it's okay to do it?
No, I never said I was ok with it, you just assumed that. People basically trying to deny he could do any of this or that he couldn't hand down a directive to a government department.
No, I never said I was ok with it, you just assumed that.
you know a lot about assumptions it looks
Where in Russia is 'Lithuania' again? I forget which province that is.
That's not fucking funny and also fucking offensive.
Good for them, let's hope they keep on tweeting.
At least until their salaries are reduced to $1.
"I'm not (Trump) supporter, but..." is the new "I'm not racist, but...".
You people are nuts. Here you are freaking out about censorship while at the same time trying to shame and bully people to have identical opinion as you. First you created this climate where if someone voices an opinion that isn't perfectly in line with what other people are saying and isn't basically "Trump is hitler, it's the end of the world" you dogpile that person accusing him of being a Trump supporter, which basically equals to calling someone a racist retard. So when someone who does agree that Trump is terrible but don't think that something is as bad as you are saying want to tone it down a bit they have to start with "devil avocado" or "I'm not a Trump supporter" because otherwise you will shit on them for being a Trump supporter when they are not. Mind you I'm referring to the exact quote and it's broader context not just in context of the post you have replied to with it, because you were also talking about broader context. Now, did you just think that I'm a Trump supporter or that I'm defending what he's doing here because I DARED to step out of line and criticize you? When in reality I only said that people shouldn't be attacked for trying to tone down a bit all the raving about soviet America and shit like that? That should make you think on how cult-like you are if you are not even going to allow any kind of self-policing WITHIN the group that opposes Trump. But it probably won't.
Will be intresting to see how The_Donald will defend all his actions in the coming years
Will be intresting to see how The_Donald will defend all his actions in the coming years
Cults of personality dont defend actions in the way you or me try to defend actions. They just continue screaming about how great his actions are and how each asinine decision contributes to making America great again. Of course, this doesn't apply to more level-headed supporters of Trump, who may not necessarily agree with all of his actions.
Please, I request any trump supporter to come and defend this action by the administration. What makes it okay to silence aspects of the government that do not deal with national security.
Get the fuck in here Tudd and !Lord M! and explain yourself, you worthless wastes of air. (User was banned for this post ("Rude" - Sgt Doom))
Get the fuck in here Tudd and !Lord M! and explain yourself, you worthless wastes of air.
i mean i agree with this sentiment fully but wording it like that may be a bit flamey
i mean i agree with this sentiment fully but wording it like that may be a bit flamey
Lord M isn't even a Trump supporter IIRC.
Lord M isn't even a Trump supporter IIRC.
His views and avatar just happen to align with Trump.
Lord M isn't even a Trump supporter IIRC.
he bitches about immigrants until he gets banned for it, does that count
Get the fuck in here Tudd and !Lord M! and explain yourself, you worthless wastes of air.
It kinda, sorta looks like instead of changing people's mind about Trump and having some positive influence on ensuring people like Trump won't be elected in the future you just want to vent your anger on them because it feels good to be in the right and rub it in other people's faces how wrong they are.

The reason for this with high certainty is that informed public is detrimental to administration's goals, so there's a good reason for people to be concerned. By the way, what is your take on the issue?
My question is: what is worse, a smart dictator, or a dumb dictator?
No, I never said I was ok with it, you just assumed that. People basically trying to deny he could do any of this or that he couldn't hand down a directive to a government department.
I am so confused what your point is that you must either be backpedalling or just trying to start an argument out of miscommunication So the point you were trying to make is that he can do it? Well that's pretty obvious as he has. No one was saying he literally physically cannot do this. They are saying he 'can't do this', as in, it's a terrible move that sets a horrible precedent
Get the fuck in here Tudd and !Lord M! and explain yourself, you worthless wastes of air.
Tbh this is kinda dumb. I can sympathise with your frustration, but Id much rather get an insight into exactly how Trump supporters think, than just flame them and call them all worthless. I honestly want to know why they support this brand of politics. I want to know just what it is they expect to see from Trump that justifies all of the stupid and dangerous bullshit he's planning. I want to see more Trump supporters defending this kind of thing so I can understand (if not agree with) their position, rather than just having various posters starting as many threads as possible in a race to make the opposite ~side~ look worse without actually talking to each other.

Appealing to peoples' concerns and campaigning hard wins votes, not, as the Democrats learned to their cost, attacking the other candidate and hoping it's enough to win.
If you really want to understand how somebody who supports Trump thinks, look at /r/thedonald and observe, don't just call them out by insulting them.
My question is: what is worse, a smart dictator, or a dumb dictator?
The former, because you're stuck with them. Unlike Trump, who is guaranteed to fuck up and get himself killed or impeached.

How much evidence is enough to show that this was a huge fuck up?. I'm absolutely positive that if I voted for a politician only to have them start trying to enforce outright censorship I would be absolutely livid, but with Trump nobody really seems that bothered?

How much evidence is enough to show that this was a huge fuck up?
Cults of personality are scary things. They still support him because they agree with his decisions whether or not they understand the consequences they face as a result of those decisions. Basically, blind loyalty to their leader instead of showing a critical eye at his actions and rethinking their positions. Unless the supporters are directly affected by his decisions (by this I mean have their day to day lives influenced adversely by these actions), it's unlikely they'll even consider rethinking their support of him. Oh, and they also sweep aside legitimate criticisms as "librul teers" so make of this what you will.
is trump going to break the record for shortest term in the presidential office
Late, but William Henry Harrison died 31 days in to his presidency. It'll be tough to beat that, so start watching the calendar.
Get the fuck in here Tudd and !Lord M! and explain yourself, you worthless wastes of air.
First off, cool down. Second, just as its wrong to assume the left is some hivemind that is always in 100% agreement with itself, its wrong to assume that of the right. Its not like tudd always excused trump either
Guys go ahead and unload, can't defend this crap.
It's to the point where criticisms MUST be fake because it fits the rhetoric Trump spews and obviously, he wants to stick it to the man, so it's everyone else that's wrong. It's not just an idea anymore when you're that emotionally invested in it.
By the way, what is your take on the issue?
I think it's very concerning that someone who's anti-environmental just silenced every government agency with data on the matter and an indication of worse forms of censorship possibly to come. I don't know if the word "censorship" isn't a bit of a stretch though, I thought censorship refers to media? I might be incorrect on this. But yeah, I'm on board with strongly opposing this because I'm very pro-transparency of politicians and governments. However I'm not going to rave about soviet America because that just makes our side, the side that opposes this, look like a bunch of lunatics.

However I'm not going to rave about soviet America because that just makes our side, the side that opposes this, look like a bunch of lunatics.
Censorship can apply to any information down to private correspondence and conversations. And in this case, it is in regards to mass media. Preventing researchers from giving statements and freely sharing information to public through whatever media they choose is unambiguously harming free flow of information. There is absolutely a case to be made for Soviet-style censorship:
On Tuesday, employees were informed in a memo seen by Reuters that all communications with the media should be approved by the administration, (...) Officials at HHS also received a memo ordering them not to send “any correspondence” to other public officials. Instead, they must refer any requests for information to senior leaders, who are not to do anything until they have received instructions from the White House staff on its policies,
After denouncing and blocking media for doing unfavorable reporting and going for straight-up lies when convenient, subjecting civil services and science under political control is yet another step towards stranglehold over free information, situation which bears similarities to how Soviet Union handled it. You can make that comparison with reasonable merit, calling it lunacy is wanting to be in denial.
