BBC doesn't have the stones to shitcan their second-biggest money spinner (Doctor Who being the first) after the Yewtree disaster. They need absolutely all the money they can get right now because of how much of a car crash the past 3 years have been for them, and the decreasing number of license fee payers what with Netflix and on-demand services and the increasing amount of torrenting that's going down.
It's insane how easily people from the South proudly display the confederate flag and say it isn't a symbol that promotes racism/racial inequality

The Confederacy fought to the death in promotion of keeping slavery and racism, in what way is their flag NOT a symbol of that
they fought for states rights, not for slavery

Well sorta, they fought for the states rights but the issue that sparked it was about slavery.

What state right were they fighting for?

Not Clarkson's fault in this case, though. Read the letter.
How about some Argentinian propaganda that makes the Brits look badarse.

States rights to keep slavery...
Do I have to quote the confederate secession speech for you?

Not really. Slavery was indeed an issue, but it was hardly the reason for the Civil War. The South seceded because the North had way more leverage in the government due to higher populations in cities, while the South was mostly sparsely populated plantations. They pushed 1 slave = 3/5 person to give themselves more seats in the government, but even that ultimately failed. Eventually, they got fed up with the North and seceded from the Union. The issue of slavery was mostly used by the North to gain support.

Yeah, the South started to lose its artificially inflated government majority (slaves should have been counted as 0, not 3/5) and so it basically took its ball and went home. Sure sounds justified to me.
