Can someone seriously get Trump away from his twitter account. For fuck sake...
nope, hes not going to "grow up" once sworn in either since hes a fucking 70 year old man, we can just hope for a heart attack or anyuridm at this point
isnt the problem that most of our current nuclear weapons are outdated and it's better to replace older nukes with newer ones?
we have been, he's talking about building more ontop of that
guys,
he goes to intelligence briefings everyday and is counseled by smartest people in the world (he's also a billionaire)
he's making America Great Again

No he doesn't. He's a smart guy, he doesn't need intelligence briefings.
BTW for context HE ACTUALLY SAID THIS

I haven't been paying attention, what is a recent story that puts Trump in a negative light? It's like clockwork, someone points out he made a dumb decision and he goes straight to Twitter to rile up the press to get them talking about something else than the dumb deicision.
What have we done

IIRC, according to Trump supporters it's a campaign technique to gain publicity with the theory that there is "no bad publicity".
Though I'm pretty sure that idea goes out the window given that he's not campaigning anymore?
Nuclear anything should be at the bottom of the list, there's far more important shit to worry about. Someone needs to get this dude off Twitter.

Had he used the word 'modernize' instead of 'greatly strengthen and expand' then this would be a non-issue. But he didn't. Either the President Elect is planning to undo decades worth of progress in terms of nuclear disarmament or he doesn't have the basic common sense to take time to properly phrase his nuclear policy.

trump? tweeting something poorly phrased?
surely you jest

"Hurr Hurr Hurr It's just a negotiation tactic, guys. He isn't serious, he's just using his business smarts to settle for a deal." :hammered:
No.
Don't you even fucking dare.
While I know it's possible, in an ideal world we'd literally take all the nuclear weapons on the planet, and bury them. They are way, way too dangerous and have the ability to kill us.
At the very least the main players of the world must not increase their current nuclear missile count. The United States has enough at the very least.
When people wanted others to look at nuclear, they wanted people to use nuclear power, not goddamn nukes!
trump i don't think that's what the american nuclear society meant when they asked to make nuclear great again
Well I think it needs to be updated for sure. Maintaining 50 year old nukes is really not something you want to always rely on.
"Expanding" is probably the worst word he could use without looking like we going to go bulk on new nukes.
I always knew shitposting would lead to our demise as a species
AFAIK the warheads themselves don't go bad, moreso the surrounding hardware and launch vehicles.

In what sense is current US nuclear capability inadequate?
"You guys if Hillary wins, we'll get into a nuclear war with Russia! This is 100% CONFIRMED by her vague political flip-flopping on how she would establish a no-fly zone in Syria."
*goes on to piss off a different superpower we owe billions of dollars*
*goes on to say we should get into a nuclear arms race with Russia*
So has anyone decoded what the fuck he means by "until such time as the world comes to its senses regarding nukes" yet?
damn this guy is an actual fucking retard and we put him in charge of the largest nuclear arsenal on earth
god bless us all

who the fuck knows at this point. It could mean he thinks they're bad, but it could also mean to use them as a first strike option because that's how he treated them during his campaign. 'we have them, why can't we use them' sorta thing.
I really want to know why he thinks more nuclear weapons is a good idea. Probably something about how other nations aren't disarming yet we are.
Regardless, if we start building more nuclear weapons I will try to get some breeder reactors going to make the plutonium. The breeder reactors should take care of the existing nuclear waste we have.

He just dropped 'drain the swamp'. As someone in another thread pointed out, he already completed that goal by piping it straight into his cabinet.
MAD is already in effect, more nukes at this point does not help.
I mean how does more nukes help? The amount America has now really puts off a full invasion. I don't think Russia is gonna be like "We have 1000 more nukes then america... obviously this means we can bomb the shit out of them."
Instead of just destroying our country he wants to destroy the entire world too.
nukes are bad but as long as potential enemies are building up their nuclear arsenal then america needs to keep up as well
looks like we're "keeping up" pretty well
it was a response to putin's statement about russia needing to strengthen its nuclear potential
the us cant stay behind russia on this
why not?
why would you even need any more when you have over 7000
Well come on, we have to keep up with the Joneses
This alone is gonna shuffle the doomsday clock a few minutes closer to midnight. What a fucking moron.

Why not? what difference does it make if you can turn the earths crust into glass 12 or 13 times?
once you have so many nukes that no matter what, some will get through you dont need any more.
An argument could be made that we need better nukes, modern nukes, whatever, but more? no
This guy is unreal.
