https://uploadvr.com/tpcast-wireless-skepticism/ Sorry for the bump, but it turns out they claim the device adds 2ms of delay, not 15
That's nuts.
How hard is it to modify your current Vive with this accessory?
How hard is it to modify your current Vive with this accessory?
Its an attachment
Its an attachment
But the way it is now, its long cables attatched to the Head-mount. Do you just coil that up or what?
But the way it is now, its long cables attatched to the Head-mount. Do you just coil that up or what?
You just unplug the cables from the headset, they are not soldered to it or something. Then put this wireless receiver thing on it and plug it in where the cables were, and data is wireless-ly sent from your PC to it somehow.
The cord never really bothered me honestly
Same here, it's how much heat it retains that bugs me. It doesn't get hot but it gets you hot since it reduces how much heat escapes your head
The cord never really bothered me honestly
I'm gonna have to disagree with you on that one. The cord isn't a huge problem but I really dislike it (especially speaking as a dev where repeatedly picking it up and putting it down tangles the cord). It also creates a bunch of spaghetti that you have to shove somewhere for it to look neat and tidy on a desk. [editline]17th November 2016[/editline] maybe if I had the new thin cable this wouldn't be a problem
I'm pretty insanely skeptical about that 2ms, encoding the bits needed to transport 2.6 million RGB pixels in that time would be some kind of technological miracle with the current tech we have. Don't see why 90 minute playtime is a problem, you'd be puking up breakfast by that point anyway
Don't see why 90 minute playtime is a problem, you'd be puking up breakfast by that point anyway

Motion sickness on the rift or vive is virtually non-existent when you meet recommended specs, the only games that have made me even the slightest bit sick was due to me choosing a movement scheme option that's harsher on you but some people enjoy more. Even then, it was very minor.
Starting to wish these shitposts were bannable, you're not going to be sick after 90 minutes in VR unless it's a really poorly designed game or you actively choose an option a developer left in that's harder on you. Teleport based games should never give you any amount of motion sickness period, and while I haven't done any extreme length VR sessions I've played some games that are pretty extreme in terms of locomotion (long distance fast jumps, constant movement in the game with no movement irl) for over an hour with only extremely mild disorientation afterwards.
Don't see why 90 minute playtime is a problem, you'd be puking up breakfast by that point anyway
I experience minor motion sickness for the first ~60 seconds of throwing on the headset if I jump straight into an extremely tilt-ey or slidey game but then it's gone, anything past that and I just "settle" into the game's reality more and motion sickness totally goes away because it's like I'm just actually there. [editline]17th November 2016[/editline] The only games I experience motion sickness in at all are ones that don't even try to mitigate it and there aren't that many of those
If this was any other developer it would be marketed as a gen 2 for the price of a new headset instead of an optional addon
