I never liked bugs or spiders. The reason can be summed up in this image;
I never liked bugs or spiders. The reason can be summed up in this image;
I got scared as shit when it jumped on his arm.
These look amazing. We don't have dobsonflies in this little niche of the world.
Link your photos please I have entomophobia, I expected none outside of the OP but nope I had a panic attack upon scrolling beyond the OP (which I covered my entire left half of the screen just to not have to look at the pictures)
Lol if you have Entomophobia, why did you click a thread titled "New huge as fuck flying insect with fangs and a wingspan of 21cm found in China"? I have a phobia of grub worms and caterpillars and I sure as fuck wouldn't click on a thread titled "Check out this giant gross as fuck foot-long grub worm that eats human flesh!"
That's not so scary. The bigger it is, the easier it also is to hit it with a bat. Would be worse if it was some invisible shit that fucks you up by going up your butt.

Anything which I cannot best with my fly zapper swatter is a boss bug, and I don't fuck with those. The best you can hope for is it standing still while you can get the largest textbook you have and throw it at it. [editline]21st July 2014[/editline] Not to say urethra-tunnelling micro-bugs would not be terrifying as well.
Holy shit, that name leaves very little to the imagination. Sums that little monster up quite well.
They're called Tarantula hawks because they paralyse tarantulas for months and lay their eggs in them.
that's a pretty cool bug I remember when I went to school in Japan I had one of these perched on top of my head
Looks more like an elongated ladybug.

Though to be honest, I'd probably forgo melee altogether. I would get my crossbow and put up with a hole in my wall.
no lol anyways, kicking off page 2 with another cool dobsonfly picture i just googled since I can't find my own i used to find these fuckers at a summer camp i went to once (though their pinchers were never this big). I'd always poke their back then watch as they'd rear their head backwards and try to catch my finger. It was fun.
I was volunteering for a day camp nature class this summer and one of the days we did bugs. All the kids were flipping out when we brought out the dobsonflies/hellgrammites. Only thing that beat out the praying mantis.
[img_thumb]http://i.imgur.com/zoD2jb7.jpg[/img_thumb] I found one of these? :<
Eyed click beetles are awesome, we used to compete as kids to see who could find the one that flipped the highest when you put it on its back.
[t]http://thefeaturedcreature.thefeaturedcreat.netdna-cdn.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/11/Capture115.jpg[/t] sorry rockz, i'm a terrible person.
Is it just me or does that spider look like a Reaper from Mass Effect? Or the Metroid Prime?

You do not have a "phobia", you are hopping on the bandwagon of people who have actual fears so you can enjoy your snug little hugbox. Look at it. Fucking look at it. IT CAN DO NOTHING TO YOU, IT BURROWS IN THE GROUND. Can you be spooked by a bug? Yes. Can it make you feel uneasy? Hell yes, earwigs in my living space make me feel dirty, since they surround themselves in dirty areas. But a "phobia"? If you actually had a phobia, you wouldn't fucking enter the thread. (Northern Mole Cricket, for the curious)

I hate spiders, but I have no problems with daddy long legs. I would pick up that whole bunch and just like pour them all over myself and then sprint at the person closest to me.
Welp, time to move to Uranus.
I hate spiders, but I have no problems with daddy long legs. I would pick up that whole bunch and just like pour them all over myself and then sprint at the person closest to me.
Some people just want to watch the world burn.
Oh my god, no you don't. You do not have a "phobia", you are hopping on the bandwagon of people who have actual fears so you can enjoy your snug little hugbox. Shut. Up. Fucking look at it. IT CAN DO NOTHING TO YOU, IT BURROWS IN THE GROUND. (Northern Mole Cricket, for the curious)
Don't be so hard on them, the worst you can do to someone with a phobia is mocking them. They can always go to a therapist if it's too bad, having a severe fear towards something as mundane and (mostly) innofensive as bugs can get on your way of life really hard. On the cricket itself, I remember a book about insects I had since kindergarden that had a huge image of this little guy and always found it fascinating. Sure it brings back memories.

I mean I have nothing against smaller spiders and spiders not invading my personal space (it always scare me when they 'drop on the web line' just infront of my eyes while working on some monitor) always funny how the small distance makes the small spider to look 5x bigger and scarier ;) there is bush near house I grown up which has hundreds maybe thousands spiders in it, but each has it's own 'living' space and own web ... I was always fascinated by watching how they work and capture the unlucky insect, but it never was 'bad' now some videos on the of these cocoons full of 1000s spiders ... that's really scary ;)
