They don't look that bad
I agree they don't look that bad, in a really bad fucking way.

this one looks really cool I like how every leg also looks like it has a pair of claws
this one looks really cool I like how every leg also looks like it has a pair of claws
solifugae AKA camel spiders, they aren't actually spiders IIRC they're closer relatives to whip scorpions
I found an assassin bug outside the other day just chilling out. I got bit by a tiny one of these a few years ago and it was quite painful. and here is a different picture from google. These little fuckers hurt.
more to laugh
it surprises and fascinates me that even now we still find new species never seen before.
I'm surprised, fascinated, and TERRIFIED.
Bugs are fucking awesome, what's up with this "nope" attitude towards them?
Bugs are fucking awesome, what's up with this "nope" attitude towards them?
Im guessing its the spindly legs and Compound Eyes that fuel the fear of them. To be honest im pretty scared of bugs myself. Bugs just look creepy, even if they dont mean any harm.
psssh, that just means it's big enough to get a decent punch in when it flies at you

That's rather cool.
Eh just looks like a buffed Dobsonfly, though if their larvae are buffed hellgrammite then god help us all
So. . .pretty much the flying version of the thing that burrowed into Chekov's brain in Wrath Of Khan?
we have those in arizona, they literally eat tarantulas also whip scorpions, but they dont fly, they just spit poison
They are also called Vinegaroons. I read a children's book when I was a kid with one in it and had nightmares... They are just cool looking now though.
I'm hiding under my bed now.
That's probably where you'd find one of these
Wouldnt those be mandibles, not fangs?
Bugs are fucking awesome, what's up with this "nope" attitude towards them?
Bugs are great when observed from a safe distance not anywhere near where I sleep, eat, relax, drink, work, or spend any amount of time.

Never even knew they could bite lol. I think I'm gonna stop messing with them though. Maybe idk they're cool as fuck. bugpunch man, i've always wanted to touch a bug but the best i can do is a lady bug. i'm too squeamish and have bad experiences with bugs (roaches everywhere when i was younger), but damn these fuckers are rad
Im guessing its the spindly legs and Compound Eyes that fuel the fear of them. To be honest im pretty scared of bugs myself. Bugs just look creepy, even if they dont mean any harm.
My arachnophobia stems from a combination of spindly legs and massive size. Which is why daddy long legs and some craneflies freak me out but black widows don't. It's gonna end up killing me one day I swear. In fact, I was once halfway up a tree when I saw a massive daddy long legs on my arm and almost obliterated myself :v:. I survive these threads though because although I get an initial shock (and I'm having a very hard time scrolling up and away from this page), I'm calmed by the fact that New Zealand's set up a friggin' Berlin wall against new insects.
Have you guys ever carved up a horsefly? (Yes with a small-ish but sharp knife.) A thousand little white, nasty fucking mini-horse-fly worms came out. It was sooo nasty. But also cool, I was like 7 year old.
one of these fuckers (kissing bug) landed on my arm the other night, it flew from fucking nowhere. I noticed it and screamed like a bitch and shook it off before it bit me. we got these fuckers here in brazil's northern area(its a titan bettle).
Fuck off, nature. Just fuck right off.
Bugs are fucking awesome, what's up with this "nope" attitude towards them?
I never really got why exactly people are scared of insects. I don't consider myself afraid of insects but when one shows up in front of me and I didn't see it coming I still jump a little. Except for spiders. I don't care much about spiders.
don't forget that the giant wasps in NV are based on the real life tarantula hawks from the area
Getting stung by one of those will fuck you up real bad. Like getting-a-glowing-hot-nail-pounded-into-your-scrotum bad.
