....ummmm, how did he get behind those rocks?
Seriously George, how do you not expect us to give you shit when you make alterations that causes logic problems within your own movie.
Look, more effort in this one joke than George Lucas has put into the prequel trilogy and Indy 4!
Am I the only person that sees nothing wrong with the current star wars? (except that animated bullshit new one that came out some years ago).
Actually that animated bullshit is a rather good series, the movie probably not but the series it's self is actually pretty good, it's like a longer version of Genndy's Clone Wars series
"Why would I make any more," Lucas stated about continuing with his popular sci-fi universe, "when everybody yells at you all the time and says what a terrible person you are?"
It's not science fiction for fucks sake! It's as much scifi as LotR are history films!
Star Wars is a fantasy franchise. There's magic, it's not based in our universe, there are SPACEMONSTERS, there's not a sign of science anywhere, light is solid, there are different laws of nature, there isn't even an Earth in the universe Star Wars is set in.
Probably because the more recent movies you made were terrible.
well then that means he's a terrible moviemaker, not a terrible person

This, up till 4:54...
Seriously, he can bitch all he wants, but it doesn't make him any less of a sellout or the Star Wars films any more NOT his.
Star Wars belongs to the fans, as does Indiana Jones.

CGI looks better, proof is above.

Funny actually: /tg/ was having a Star Wars discussion last night, and one of the points raised was that Lucas is very much like Hideo Kojima; he can come up with good ideas and settings, but only if he's surrounded by saner people to reign him in when he strays into stupid instead.
Damn straight. People forget the originals had a lot of outside help, and the actors were willing to say "what the fuck?" here and there.
He gave me Lucasfilm games who made the Indy adventures, Monkey Island, Sam n Max and Day of the Tentacle and even if all he did was giving his name I will always remember that.
Why are you guys saying that Lucas's recent Star Wars movies are shit?
I thought they were pretty damn good.
"Why would I make any more," Lucas stated about continuing with his popular sci-fi universe, "when everybody yells at you all the time and says what a terrible person you are?"
Well at least he's a good guy if he acknowledges this.

Bandwagoning.
Am I the only person that sees nothing wrong with the current star wars? (except that animated bullshit new one that came out some years ago).
Have you watched the Animated show? Once in a while if it's on i'll keep it on and honestly, it isn't terrible for what it is, which is a ploy to draw a younger audience into the franchise. It's pretty enjoyable to watch some episodes when it's focused on a few characters in a desperate situation, and there's actually something there for real fans too I think. I hated it when it came out too just because it was everything that was wrong with star wars, pandering to new crowds with flashy graphics.
But i gave it a chance and it just isn't that bad, I've only seen a hand full of episodes so I can't say for sure but any chance I can get to check out the star wars universe from a new perspective is fine in my books.
Bandwagoning.
Yeah cause it'd be crazy to think others have different opinions than your own.
Bandwagoning.
"anytime there are a large amount of people with an opinion contrary to my own, they are clearly bandwagoning!!!"
OR
Mayhap, they just are really bad films. They are poorly directly, badly written and have terrible scripts. Any dialogue written by Lucas is ATROCIOUS. Refer to any of the "romance" scenes in the new trilogy.
Seriously the only reason these films aren't relegated to the b-grade section is because they have HUGE budgets and top of the line special effects. Much like a michael bay movie, although I wouldn't be as insulting to say Lucas is as bad as michael bay.
Creatively, Lucas is great. He, and his group, have been a pioneering force for some of the best special effects and sound design in the business. He created the character of Indiana Jones. He took the concept of high fantasy, and re-envisioned it in a very bold way that no one had dared do before, paving the way for others.
All this and more, is to his credit. Just
PLEASE
Don't let him sit in the director's seat.
jesus you guys are fucking harsh. episodes 1-3 weren't bad, and i thought 3 was rather good.
george lucas doesn't fuck with the originals
george lucas doesn't fuck with the originals
he keeps adding cgi crap to them
As a starwars fan i'm glad i have never seen the blu rays
Currently watching that Star Wars The Clone Wars series, I rather enjoy them.
Or their getting worse, I'm on the first season so I wouldn't know.
jesus you guys are fucking harsh. episodes 1-3 weren't bad, and i thought 3 was rather good.
Episode 1 was passable, and could actually be a good film with some of the material removed (I believe a fan edit later did this and was released for free or something IDK i haven't seen it)
Episode 2 was an atrocious, painful piece of shit. It was really bad.
Episode 3 was again, passable, but could've done with some segments just completely removed. Also a personal chagrin of mine: the fight scenes got progressively more over the top and flashy with every installment. By the third film, they looked like they were dancing. Compare this to the sabre work in episode one where it actually resembles swordfighting somewhat.

Oh yeah
All he needs is sane people around him that aren't suck-ups that can separate his good ideas from his shitty, unforgivable ideas.
"Why would I make any more," Lucas stated about continuing with his popular sci-fi universe, "when everybody yells at you all the time and says what a terrible person you are?"
This kind of made me feel bad, but to be honest - if he'd just release the original theatrical cuts as well as his version, rather than trying to remove them from circulation, I'd never complain about him again.
Luckily I have the DVD editions which have the theatrical releases on the bonus disc, but apparently the source of those is the old laserdisc release. I doubt they'll come out on Bluray any time soon.

Watch Empire Strikes Back again. That's as good as Star Wars can be, all the SW movies after ESB should have been at least that good, if not better. Instead we got Ewok crap, and later Jar Jar.
It's no coincidence that the best SW movie is the one Lucas neither wrote nor directed.
Bout fucking time. Tired of him fucking up the Star Wars movies.
Didn't he create Star Wars? I don't get the criticism. Fair enough i'm not a huge fan of the series, but if he didn't create it i'd understand if he was ruining it. But surely, isn't it his own creation and idea to "ruin" or take forward in the direction he wants? :S

ITT: Entitlement.
George Lucas was godlike when he worked with American Graffiti.
Best movie ever.
Wouldn't need to be complaints if they weren't bad.

uh
the thing you have to realize here is that george lucas didn't have the same amount of influence on the original trilogy as he had the prequels
the original trilogy was good because there was usually someone there to stop him from getting too carried away with dumb ideas, and let's face it, george lucas is a man full of really, REALLY shitty ideas.
then to go and make a trilogy that pretty much shits on everything that made the original trilogy good without anyone brave enough to speak up and say "hey maybe that's not a very good idea mr lucas, here's a suggestion" is a good enough reason to irk fans.
there's nothing "entitled" about thinking the new trilogy sucks or that george lucas is to blame because it does and he is.
[editline]19th January 2012[/editline]
and frankly for you to say that anyone who criticizes the man isn't entitled to an opinion is just fuckin dumb bro
