how the hell can they dectect what processor you have?????
Really? They've been able to do this forever.
And what happens when you upgrade your processor/other parts?
Get into Gabe's account, message friend, make them shit bricks.
Is it just me or does this defeat the purpose of steam? Being able to use it anywhere.
Get into Gabe's account, message friend, make them shit bricks.
More like get into Gabe's account, go to game gifting, gift Portal 2 to your entire friend's list.
I hacked him and i'm right now playing Episode 3.
His account details are displayed publicly and you call it hacking still This generation....
Do remember if this was his real account, valve could just change the password without any problem.
They're gonna hack into his account and find nothing BUT an episode 3 trailer.
Because Gabe's steam account = Gabe's computer.
My password is a 1024-bit DSA key. No really, Steam should allow that. It'd kick ass.
Really? They've been able to do this forever. [img_thumb]http://gyazo.com/2232060574d4157950ade56c76fb87dd.png[/img_thumb]
do you even know what i was referencing? seriously read my post over and read the picture again
Is it just me or does this defeat the purpose of steam? Being able to use it anywhere.
If you try to login on unauthorized computers, you can make it send a confirmation code to the contact email and asks you to copy that. After that it's permanently authorized.
Is it just me or does anyone else think they did this to find flaws in it?
Is it just me or does anyone else think they did this to find flaws in it?
Obviously.
do you even know what i was referencing?
No, what were you referencing?
Oh Gabe :allears: There definatly should of been an episode three entry that just downloaded the trailer and played it.
Is it just me or does this defeat the purpose of steam? Being able to use it anywhere.
Well, it's optional and it only works on Sandy Bridge...
Well, it's optional and it only works on Sandy Bridge...
This beta isn't Sandy Bridge exclusive.
original steam user represent!
I changed and gave my password to my friends list and someone ended up getting in my account because when an old client logs in, it lets them in during the beta, instead of blocking them. (why?) Here's the email it sends when they're using an old client
Dear yourusername, We've received a request to access your Steam account from a new computer. The steam client performing this action is too old to provide its identity. This action has been allowed during this beta test period but will not be allowed once the test is over. If you did not attempt this action, you should change your password immediately. Thanks for helping us maintain the security of your account. His old, cracked steam account creates a log file of everything it does. It said that gaben@valvesoftware.com is protected. I don't think anyone can actually log in to this, it's just a gimmick
And what happens when you upgrade your processor/other parts?
it sends you an email with a confirmation link
1. Challenge hackers to break the system. 2. Hire the successful hackers. 3. Improve the system. Pretty solid idea Gabe.
When my dad was younger they found out how to hack satellites and get free payphone calls. Some guys in black suits showed up and basically said "here's a scholarship to college. Either take it, and come work for us immediately work for us, or go to jail for a LONG time. They never saw him again.
No, what were you referencing?
The picture misspelled "detected" as "dectected".
The picture misspelled "detected" as "dectected".
bingo
The picture misspelled "detected" as "dectected".
Oh I see now. It's still not funny but it makes sense at least.
Wouldn't this just spam someone's email inbox if a hacker does try to get in multiple times? And this could easily be exploited the same way most of my friend's steam accounts were stolen with a simple link a few month's ago.
I gotta admit, I thought it was pretty awesome when I got the authorization error, and then just a normal error when I typed his password wrong. Something worth nothing: I have another copy of steam on my external hard drive that has my entire library installed. When I logged into that installation on the same computer, I had to go through authorization :raise:
-snip- Old post snipped, it seems there is several issues with this challenge. [del]Can i opt into it? I don't see an option anywhere and I'd like to know, if there is no way to opt-in then i declare this dick-waving of the highest order as there is no implementation code to analyze.[/del] beta woo Also the steam community login "Protection" popup is total bullshit because they'd need to execute code on your browser to even obtain that information.
1. Challenge hackers to break the system. 2. Hire the successful hackers. 3. Improve the system. Pretty solid idea Gabe.
Stunningly brilliant! Only those who get through the system know it best.
