Google might have to keep some stuff up; taking down Google Apps and shit would piss off business partners and stuff
again, anyone who goes to reddit already knows what SOPA is. the point of a blackout is to inform people via a means of inconvenience. thus this is the point that is defeated by both scheduling a blackout, and a site like reddit having it in the first place. companies like google and yahoo would have effective blackouts because of a much broader user base that has a much higher chance of being uninformed of SOPA. take all of the members that try to be edgier douchebag 4chan users, year old "new" jokes and stolen memes, and shitty unfunny "rage" comics and black out forever.
I think this is being done not to inform reddit users, but to get Google and such off their asses and follow suit.
What will I do without /gonewild? Will be sure to mark the 18th on my calander as Boring Day.
reddit: where stupid people do stupid things Facepunch: where stupid people complain about reddit doing stupid things

I genuinely hope this makes an impact.
