You can thank all the "bro gamers" out there. Same reason they keep making Call of Duties.
Why don't they try and salvage the story and finish it off. Then they can use this stealth system but modify it and make and entirely different series.
The story needs salvaging? Its a pretty intricate story that has a rather interesting way of connecting history and gaming.
except the point of half life episode three is to end the half life story, just as the episode before it continued it the point of the assassins creed sequels is to make lots and lots of money
I'm pretty sure I read somewhere that Gabe intended to make a HL3. The episode series are meant to tie up HL2 and as its going Episode 2 has only done more to increase the amount of questions which would be unusual for a middleman as they're not suppose to introduce a lot so they can tie up the story like Mass Effect 2.
because the point of an fps is to hone your skills against human opponents whereas the point of assassin's creed is to fight AI
When did gamers ever care about "Honing their skills"? They just wanna kill shit.
Uh, no. Episode Three will end the Half-Life 2 saga. There will still be a Half-Life 3, and probably more.
. . . says who, exactly?
The story needs salvaging?
When did gamers ever care about "Honing their skills"? They just wanna kill shit.
ever since major league gaming was invented? And then the Orange box which was practically giving shit away. kind of rules out the whole money grubbing thing.

Valve is also just a one of a kind company that has a different business strategy. The whole point of a company is to make money. You can say they're saints or what ever about Valve but they shit out games with tons of recycled content just like everyone else. And do I even need to get into what they did with TF2?

What, do they have to give you a four year introduction course to the gman and his corporation before they can end the series? That's what resolutions are for. And episode 3 is a goddamn resolution. And like I just said, this is all moot because it's obvious they aren't artificially extending the story solely for profit.
Damn it Ubisoft don't do this. Look at CoD, at first it was loved because it was different to the big dog Medal of Honor. Then it got popular and started shitting out rehashed sequels every year and now it's a massive joke in the industry, barely kept alive by Activision's greed and Treyarc's pride.

I don't really care to derail this thread or have the time to turn this into a 5 page flame war either in which it ends the way it started. Just gonna leave this quote here from Wikipedia which is cited
Half-Life 2: Episode Three is the third and final installment in the series of episodic expansions.[29] It is planned as the last episode in the story arc, although not necessarily the end of the Half-Life franchise.[30] No release date or other details have been announced, though some concept art has surfaced[31][32] as well as the possible incorporation of sign language into the game by including a deaf character.[33] In a March 2010 interview, Newell spoke of "broadening the emotional palette" of the series, and how the next Half-Life game may return to "genuinely scaring the player".[34]
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Half-Life_%28series%29
This Milking is going to ruin what was a good franchise Brotherhood was a good game but i get the feeling if they keep pushing the games out the door then its going to end badly, ffs just make number 3 and end it at a trilogy already!
My desicion not to bother with AC2 looks like it's getting better and better.
your decision not to bother with a fantastic game looks like it's pretty stupid.
Damn it Ubisoft don't do this. Look at CoD, at first it was loved because it was different to the big dog Medal of Honor. MoH used to be about being a 1 man killing machine against the Nazis while CoD was about being a soldier with the rest of your fellow soldiers. Now it's completely reversed.
They might do it like the Prince of Persia franchise has been.
Assassins Creed 1 was innovative but sucked Assassins Creed 2 was less innovative but owned Assassins Creed Brotherhood was even less innovative but owned hard
The story needs salvaging? Its a pretty intricate story that has a rather interesting way of connecting history and gaming.
Because the end of the second totally destroyed what they had been building up for 2 games.
Friendly Huey inbound.
How about making a good game that will last for 10 years, not 10 games. I won't say Counter Strike because it's multi player but look at Half life one and two, mass effect, GTA san andreas and somewhat IV etc.
I honestly couldn't get into the first one and haven't played the next two after that.
If they're making a new Assassins Creed, I hope it's modern day like the (older) Splinter Cell Conviction:
Is Brotherhood's combat system too easy just like the previous games?
Needs Industrial, French or Russian revolution era.
Assassin's Creed was always intended to be a trilogy, at heart, was it not?
Assassin's Creed was always intended to be a trilogy, at heart, was it not?
I don't think Ubisoft banked on AC being this popular. I'll keep playing them as long as the environments and time frames are different. I'm not going to play the same city over again. What I want: Tokyo or Hong Kong (Modern Day) Paris (think Saboteur but better) Rio (Modern day, parkour in the favelas would be so cash) Moscow (some time during the height of the cold war, 60s/70s)
I would love to see an AC set in the French Revolution. "That man is running on roofs! HE IS AGAINST THE REVOLUTION! OFF WITH HIS HEADKLjfslfj"
Assange Creed
Ubisoft's gonna fuck it up somehow i just gotta hunch
Some of you guys are like hoping on the bandwagon and already hating it for the fact that they said they might bring it out till 2020. And what if they do bring it out to 2020? It could have a great story and gameplay mechanics, Ubisoft isn't like Activision guys, and I doubt they will become like them.
