Ubisoft Contemplating The Next Decade Of Assassin's Creed
I can see Assassins Creed becoming similar to CoD, having a new one shat out every year.
Please god no
Ohh, and remember when everyone said "Halo 3 will be the end of the series."? Yeah, about that...
Halo 3 was the end of the trilogy following the Master Chief, Reach had a completely different story with different characters.
aren't these games getting significantly better with each one
Maybe, but at some point the AC series will go down the shitter
You can say they're saints or what ever about Valve but they shit out games with tons of recycled content just like everyone else. And do I even need to get into what they did with TF2?
They are saints compared to most other game companies for instance lets say activision owns TF2 we would be charged for each update.
Now if you are bitching about reusing models and sounds GET OUT
They're talking about sequels into 2020 and I'm sitting here never having played any AC game.
I should probably go do that.
Kinda cool with this, granted the gameplay will eventually get monotonous, but as long as they keep with the theme of the game, running about ancient cities and freerunning, and implement new features etc, then I'll probably buy the game. I do NOT want to play as Desmond though, Desmond sucks.
The problem with the call of duty/MoH games is that there is a limited number of wars that
a) everyone in america knows about
b) america were the good guys in
World War 2 is an obvious choice, so that war has been milked for many, many FPS and RTS games. Now they're moving on to the wars in the Middle East and the Cold War (blackops, the new vietnam dlc for bad company 2), were America was/is grey at best.
The Assassins Creed story/franchise doesn't have this problem, because it can be in basically any setting that a lot of conspiracies are linked to, so that provides a vast scope for variation in both combat and narrative. I'd very much like to see it continue through to all the conspiracies about America's founders, espionage in the two World Wars and the Cold War, something to do with 9/11 ...
Somehow link the game's story to Al-Qaeda?
Hah, imagine running around Moscow in the 1950s, or Hong-Kong or Tokyo today.
Now that would be awesome.
Running around with silenced sniper rifles and grenades in a third world war against russia in the 2020's no thanks. I hope they don't overdo it. I'm tired of mordern warfare.
Maybe it's just me but I'd love a Assassin's Creed 1840 steampunk styleish game.

Steampunk Assassin's Creed?
Hnnnng
Then call "Hl3" Hl4 if it pleases you; I have a hard time believing its going to finish Half Life at all when they haven't even killed off the combine yet or introduce the faction that's manipulating everyone.
Valve is also just a one of a kind company that has a different business strategy. The whole point of a company is to make money.
You can say they're saints or what ever about Valve but they shit out games with tons of recycled content just like everyone else. And do I even need to get into what they did with TF2?
Oh no an optional in-game item store, whatever shall we do. It's not like it was a fan-requested feature or anything.
They might do it like the Prince of Persia franchise has been.
Shit?
Damn it Ubisoft don't do this. Look at CoD, at first it was loved because it was different to the big dog Medal of Honor. Then it got popular and started shitting out rehashed sequels every year and now it's a massive joke in the industry, barely kept alive by Activision's greed and Treyarc's pride.
Ubisoft's done good with the series so far.
[editline]5th December 2010[/editline]
I trust them not to fuck it up just like I trust Irrational Games not to fuck up Bioshock.
Oh no an optional in-game item store, whatever shall we do. It's not like it was a fan-requested feature or anything.
I think he means unusuals and unfitting weapons/hats/promotional items
I'd rather NOT grow up with Assassin's Creed.
My desicion not to bother with AC2 looks like it's getting better and better.
You're missing out, then
AC2 is a great game
I don't care how many more Assassin's Creed games they release, the three so far are very fun, and they'll probably continue being fun.

I don't think my Xbox could handle that much sex.
I want a mission to assassinate assange for shits n giggles :v:
if their goal was to endlessly milk half life then they've been rather stupid about it so far.
What, do they have to give you a four year introduction course to the gman and his corporation before they can end the series? That's what resolutions are for. And episode 3 is a goddamn resolution.
And like I just said, this is all moot because it's obvious they aren't artificially extending the story solely for profit.
But they are making it up as they go for profit, which imho is bad. They don't think they want to do the Half-Life universe for much longer which is why they're stopping making it. Bracing for l4d3.

Apparently I'm missing out on being hooked on a milk franchise of shitty sequels.
I want a mission to assassinate assange for shits n giggles :v:
Wouldn't Assange be on the Assassins' side since the governments are mostly run by Templars.

Good job judging a game you've never played. And every Assassin's Creed has improved it's prequels so far.
So now we don't get to know what happens in the end until 2020, great.
They still need to focus on Ghost Recon and Rainbow six. It's those games combined with EA's first person shooters as competition, that will bring Call of Duty down.
Also, don't forget Splinter Cell.
I'm probably very late, but wasn't this series supposed to be a trilogy?
