Tanks in general have stronger front armor.
The us is fighting insurgents, not the fucking terminator. Is this argument even necessary. it's a gun, nothing is good about a gun.
Depends on where they hit the tank. The front armor of an Abrams is basically impervious to shaped charge and even 120mm sabot rounds, being a mix of Chobham composite with a DU mesh. Top, side and rear armor is where the penetration happens. Being designed back in the 70s, the Abrams was made to face hordes of Soviet tanks where it would face fire from the front, not light infantry forces.
During our IED courses in basic training, they showed us a number of photographs of small, clean little holes melted through the forward armor of our M1's. The entire crew were instantly killed by that small little hole. These improvised charges are incredibly powerful, for being made of junkyard scrap. Don't make the mistake of underestimating IED's.
Is this argument even necessary. it's a gun, nothing is good about a gun.
I could say the same thing about anything that does harm to a human being. Just because something is designed to kill doesn't mean we cant discuss/ have a civil argument about it.
Great, another overpowered weapon for the next Modern-Warfare title... I do, however, think it will be very helpful in both urban combat and open terrain.
oh dear, you're right. Protesting the use of tax money to build weapons that kill people is totally a crazy idea and must be trolling you're an absolute idiot.
hey stop troling silly billy lol

your kidding right? Army R&D should be working on better armor and tanks if our current stuff can be taken out with what basically amounts to Terrorist Arts and Crafts, Seriously how the fuck did the techs not account for shape charges?. what were they planing for the Russian infantry to do whilst we were fighting their tanks?, throw rocks?. Cold war tech sucks so fucking much, shit was made for a war we didn't fight and is being dragged around and used for shit it wasn't designed for because we don't have enough money and or nothing better to replace it. while field modified 40 year old Russian tech IS STILL WHOOPING OUR ASS.
Fucking noobtubes :argh:
Actually you would be surprised. The Taliban in Afghanistan are way more hardcore compared to the ones in Iraq. These guys know how to work and operate in small groups, use covering fire and other military type techniques, they actually know how to fire mortars and be accurate, plus the Taliban in Afghanistan are war hardened seeing as this isn't their first war with outsiders. And if that didn't make things worse there is only one major highway though Afghanistan and these guys know how to use the land against the US. These guys are not by any means some pushovers, the Taliban in Afghanistan are way tougher and have stronger roots in the afghan.
Quote me if I'm wrong, but wasn't that something to do with the US training the taliban to work against soldiers? Also fucking knew the american government knows something about the transformer invasion to come in 2012!
hey stop troling silly billy lol
This is an expert rebuttal objections to violence is... trolling?
Most would consider posting In a thread specifically about something you don't like as trolling, even though you are entitled to your own opinion on any matter. I do not pretend to understand the ways of Facepunch I AM ONLY BUT A MAN! FACEPUNCH SIMPLY, IS
This is an expert rebuttal objections to violence is... trolling?
lmao troll!
lmao troll!
don't bother explaining what you're trying to do, that's cool I guess
By the way, that picture we have is an old one.
Yup [editline]05:46AM[/editline] Does anybody remember the OICW from the first ghost recon? That weapon was a barrel of fun.
Only because it didn't present the shittyness of its real life counterpart [editline]05:19PM[/editline]
don't bother explaining what you're trying to do, that's cool I guess
he's trolling you, quite easy to see... i mean he's TRYING to help you see
Shit, no wonder they're "spending big"; it's manufactured by Heckler & Koch. More than half that price is brand name.
Shit, no wonder they're "spending big"; it's manufactured by Heckler & Koch. More than half that price is brand name.
The rest is backwards bullets, and no compromise. Ray-Ban of the gun world?
The us is fighting insurgents, not the fucking terminator. Is this argument even necessary. it's a gun, nothing is good about a gun.
Underestimating the enemy = stupidest mistake you can make
Underestimating the enemy = stupidest mistake you can make
I'm not really underestimating them. They don't have many tanks. I like the word "enemy" really dehumanizes the opposition. They aren't really your enemy. More of resistance to occupation.
I want to go hunting with this.
I like the word "enemy" really dehumanizes the opposition. They aren't really your enemy. They are an enemy.
They have SAPI plates covering their face? Then they're not going to be able to fire the grenade launcher very well now are they?
The insurgents are pretty shit shots.
I want to go hunting with this.
What are going to hunt, whales?
The insurgents are pretty shit shots. What are going to hunt, whales?
Dragons.
Tanks don't win wars.
cool?

A relative is a private contractor working in Iraq to train the mechanics to work on the MRAPs there. When they get a Humvee or similar back, they don't bother to clean it out. The shards of metal from shrapnel and liquid-metal go right through whatever is inside, spaying gore on the sides on the interior. In the desert heat the smell becomes unbearable, and they have to clean it out. My Dad talked to him once about it, and told me not to ask my Uncle about it. It was clear why, he was one of the people who got to take a hose and wash it out. Clearly, the 25mm rounds would be effective against any vehicles, let alone unarmored personnel. Hopefully they will have "dumb" rounds as well, so we don't have to pay however many thousand dollars for each shell.
They REALLY need to add the XM25 into Gears of War
That thing is a beast.
