Alienware Launches PC That’s Disguised as a Console

That's actually not a bad idea for some people.
Why system draws with 6970, X6, 16GB ram, 2HDD's Optical drive rarely hit 450w. People always just grossly overestimate PSU requirements
under load the 6970 alone peaks at about 280 watts
it sounds like you don't put your computer into many demanding situations
P.decent aside from the Power Supply.

with that card you'd be able to get away with a hand crank it has such a small power requirement
I'm well aware of that, but still would be nice to have at-least 350-400W [Which is optional it seems]
I'm not really sure where the market for this thing is. I suppose Best Buy will find one, but honestly, either buy a console or build your own console-ish PC, you'll spend less and get a better machine.
Looks pretty good for non-PC savvy people, Aslong as the price is goo-

OH JESUSUS HAHAHHAHU HOOOHOHOQAHHUHJUJUH OH GOD AHAHAH OH GOD I FELL OFF MY CHAIR OH GOD
My computer has a 950w PSU :/

My computer has a 950w PSU :v:
Don't worry guys, my specs are almost the same, and my PSU is roughly the same, but it's only caught on fire twice this year so it's fairly safe.
I don't get the point of this; E-peen appeal? My 800 dollar laptop smashes these specs and is easier to LAN with.
I like the idea of this for the sake of couch gaming and portable gaming (Lanning)
Here's some shots of the console: http://www.ubergizmo.com/2012/01/alienware-x51/alienware-x51-17/
This would actually work for people with small desks or someone who wanted a small LAN machine with money to burn and were too lazy to make one themself.
A bit pricey but it costs less than what I originally thought Alienware would charge for it.
P.decent aside from the Power Supply.
Adding a bigger power supply would just make it more expensive without adding any more performance though
PC for zhe living room. Would buy it..
The base model, with a Core i3, 4GB RAM and GT545 should be able to handle Battlefield 3 at close to full settings.
Hahahaha, No.
Try low at 1280x768. 800 dollars for this piece of shit? Wow.
What's dumb about this?

that's the base model
the price will shoot up faster than a heroin junkie who just won the lottery
I bet you guys it will overheat.
6Kg and 240 watts, portable as fuck compared to my PC, which must be at least three times bigger, 12Kg and 600 watts.
It's not like your PC constantly draw 600 watts because your PSU says it's a 600 watt PSU. It just means that your PSU is able to peak 600 watts before breaking.
Although it generally isn't a good idea to have either an overpowered PSU or an underpowered one, as a PSU is the most efficient during ~60% load. Go above or below that, and alot of the potential energy will be lost as heat.
I bet you guys it will overheat.
It's not powerful enough to do that
I wonder what the i7 models will do for cooling though

Actually I do but it is a flashed 6950 and I know how to use power tune
that's the base model

It's still less expensive than I thought it would be.

ah, there you go
Okay, i am going to sound stupid, but it looks worth the price.
Okay, i am going to sound stupid, but it looks worth the price.
It's not. Not even close.
That 330W power supply's not really optional now is it, you're basically going to have to buy it to even stand a chance.
On the inside, it's of course a PC. The base model, with a Core i3, 4GB RAM and GT545 should be able to handle Battlefield 3 at close to full settings
Haha no it won't.
[editline]18th January 2012[/editline]
Maybe full settings for the current consoles, which is 'low' on PC.
Can someone tell me what kind of games this thing could run?
I like the way it looks
Me too, but thats just about it.
[editline]18th January 2012[/editline]
The price is $699. What would you say would be a better PC for that same price (or less)?
Thats only 59€ more expensive than mine, and its probably ALOT better.
But then again, I bet I can get even better for even cheaper.
