They need to put the role playing back into Role Playing Game, I'd like to have more interaction with random characters to make he world seem more alive, and people actually need to do things in the town, unless a post apocalyptic town doesn't need severe upkeep. The games are cool, but I've never felt like the world was alive with actual people.
random events and encounters by the mass, far more interaction, far bigger wardrobe and armory, and far more customization. Also, make it denser with buildings while still being big. Skyrim big but with tons of stuff like underground sewers/vaults/buildings to explore/ect. Make the barren wasteland not seem too barren [sp]also, Splendor got perma'd, rofl[/sp]
Make the barren wasteland not seem too barren [sp]also, Splendor got perma'd, rofl[/sp]
...you're kidding, right? You can't walk five fucking feet in a Bethesda game without stumbling into a forbidden, undead-infested ancient sacred dragon temple (or the post-apocalyptic equivalent) filled with loot and bad guys. If Bethesda really wanted to nail a post-apocalyptic atmosphere, they'd have to make the game world MUCH bigger (and thus more sparse.) STALKER has a fantastic atmosphere of ruin, and that's because the game actually features a wasteland. FO3 was filled to the brim with random shit. You were never more than fifty feet away from a feature of some sort, and that ruins a sense of discovery and vastness. If I was in charge of design for FO4, I'd have a huge gameworld and vehicles. It's usually a dungeon with some enemies with a boss at the end and some sort of treasure. Skyrim was just awful for that, I must have fought three thousand Draugur in sixty hours. If they weave some sort of story into most of their locations, instead of just plonking it down and adding enemies, it'd be great. As for the news itself, I gotta say, I'm thinking it's Skyrim Main Quest DLC. Both Civil War endings mention troubles gathering on the horizon, it seems like very obvious foreshadowing. Lastly, Jesus, what a clusterfuck of a thread.
fair more bigger but with much more content, only it's more distributed?
Bethesda has never had a problem with the amount of content in their games, just in the way that content fits into the gameplay model. In Oblivion, most dungeons were shitty boring locations filled with unfun wolves that you'd have to slog through. In FO3, raiding a vault or a bandit hideout was never worth the ammo you'd expend getting through it; the repetitive environments and meaningless loot made exploration boring. In Skyrim, dungeons are more interesting, but they're repetitive, and the focus on building tons of them narrowed the game's focus down to the point where every quest is about dungeon diving. In STALKER, raiding locations is interesting, because 1. The game's realistic aesthetic gives the player an important sense of urban exploration (FO3's environments feel very video-gamey.) 2. There are interesting rewards, because good weapons and supplies are rare in other areas of gameplay 3. The locations are small, realistic, and mostly above-ground. Therefore, exploring in STALKER is a small time commitment with varied visuals and good rewards, such as 100% condition rifles, ammo/medicine stockpiles, or new suits In FO3, exploration mostly involved shooting some bullshit enemy like radroaches while backpedaling over 2 or 3 levels of rusty metal hallways while constantly picking up almost useless crap like plasma mines or hair pins. I guess my biggest problem with FO3 was just how disconnected from reality the game was, though.
Considering the content though, and how much there is, sometimes you much deal with that
I'd be willing to give them the benefit of the doubt in this regard but when you release patches that make dragons fly backwards that some independent modder can fix in a day you forfeit your right to use that excuse.
Except for the fact that New Vegas had a less in-depth background story on the protagonist and the Captial Wasteland was a FAR more interesting place to explore than New Vegas.
I like that they didn't force some dumbass father on me.
Clearly not Dishonored with that style, and Prey 2 was cancelled. When you think Dishonored, think HL2, you never saw anything like that in HL2.
Prey 2 didn't get cancelled. It was a rumor.
I like that they didn't force some dumbass father on me.
Don't you badmouth Liam Neeson dad.
I like that they didn't force some dumbass father on me.
Aye, it was great in the sense that you were entirely able to create your own background, with the exception of the Divide. Fallout 3 was just "Hey, you were born in the Vault and your childhood was sad and Fonzy tried to rape your female friend, here's a gun and a bat, goodbye" Even Fallout 1, which started in a Vault, gave you total freedom in your characters history. So do Skyrim and Oblivion for that matter.
Don't you badmouth Liam Neeson dad.
Every element of character interaction in FO3 was hideous. The game had awful writing and scathing voiceovers. No amount of Qui-Gon-Jinn could've fixed that mess.
"thanks for saving our asses, person we tried to have murdered before, now get out before we murder you"
Every element of character interaction in FO3 was hideous. The game had awful writing and scathing voiceovers. No amount of Qui-Gon-Jin could've fixed that mess.
I liked talking with Elder Lyons and Eden, otherwise yeah, it was bad. Plus Bethesda always has trouble properly utilizing their big-name voice actors. Liam Neeson could have been awesome, but as it is...
don't forget "son, did you nuke megaton? im disappointing in you, but for now we gotta get this bullshit working"
snip
Every element of character interaction in FO3 was hideous. The game had awful writing and scathing voiceovers. No amount of Qui-Gon-Jinn could've fixed that mess.
Please don't start again.
As much as I'd like Skyrim DLC atm, it's probably Fallout related.
As much as I'd like Skyrim DLC atm, it's probably Fallout related.
It's probably the opposite.
Oh there's still a debate going on. Didn't realize. :v: I remain skeptical. Hopefully they prove me wrong.
I'm assuming they're going to announce Fallout 5, just so I can be the most disappointed
But there needs to be a Fallout 4 first.
rofl Fallout 1 was boring (in my opinion)
Fallout 1 was created by interplay not bethesda.
I love you too
if it is fallout 4 I'll cry tears of semen I WANT TO BELIEVE I've probably played Fallout 3 more than any other video game in existence.
