I can't believe people hail him as a god and it was even considered to have a day dedicated to this chuckle fuck.
More like popularised the graphical user interface for use in personal computers.
More like stole that interface from Xerox who didn't understand it's value. EDIT: Shit, :ninja:
More like stole that interface from Xerox who didn't understand it's value.
Popularised. Yes, I know the xerox story, I didn't say he invented it. [editline]21st October 2011[/editline] I can't believe I'm actually defending Apple here, I don't even like them that much. But when people make points as retarded as the people in this thread have someone's got to step in.
I will spend my last dying breath if I need to, and I will spend every penny of Apple's $40 billion in the bank
Holy shit, Steve Jobs was a comic book villain
Here's the thing, anyone else could've done that
Anyone could have done the theory of relativity. [sp]after reading this though, steve jobs seems a bit dickish[/sp]
Popularised. Yes, I know the xerox story, I didn't say he invented it.
Popularized in this case means that he made tons money off of it. That's not an achievement in any way.
Popularized in this case means that he made tons money off of it. That's not an achievement in any way.
Tons of money also means it got popular, which is kinda an achievement.
Tons of money also means it got popular, which is kinda an achievement.
Windows must be a even bigger achievement then, since most computers utilizes a version of the Windows OS.
The iPad!
Because I want a tablet that doesn't support flashplayer, has no external memory, and falls the fuck apart.
Because I want a tablet that doesn't support flashplayer, has no external memory, and falls the fuck apart.
Of course, I'll buy two of them so I can multitask!
Of course, I'll buy two of them so I can multitask!
Atta boy.
Windows must be a even bigger achievement then, since most computers utilizes a version of the Windows OS.
Is it not? It's a great os and a good alternative to osx.
Windows must be a even bigger achievement then, since most computers utilizes a version of the Windows OS.
It was but Bill Gates isn't a huge douche, and is still alive so doesn't get enough credit yet.
Popularized in this case means that he made tons money off of it. That's not an achievement in any way.
No, he saw the potential for it and implemented it in a way that exposed it to millions of people.
It was but Bill Gates isn't a huge douche, and is still alive so doesn't get enough credit yet.
Actually during his ruling in MS he was known for being ruthless and unforgiving. But that was for the sake of business, it wasn't his private life character. You can't get to the top while being nice and friendly to everyone.
Actually during his ruling in MS he was known for being ruthless and unforgiving. But that was for the sake of business, it wasn't his private life character.
Actually during his ruling in MS he was known for being ruthless and unforgiving. But that was for the sake of business, it wasn't his private life character. It's a dog eat dog world in terms of business but as has been mentioned, Apple appear to be too personal in their moves to oust the competition.
Windows XP tablet failed because trying to use Windows XP with a touchscreen was an exercise in frustration and annoyance.
Ahem, working on this thing with a pen was a really pleasant experience. Atleast I'm not worried over whether or not there is "an app for that" since I have a real OS.
Ahem, working on this thing with a pen was a really pleasant experience.
I used one of those once, it was fucking annoying
I used one of those once, it was fucking annoying
Weird, I loved it. So do all my professors who have one. Oh wait, what was that? ANCEDOTAL EVIDENCE?! STOP RIGHT THERE CRAPPY CLAIMS!
Atleast I'm not worried over whether or not there is "an app for that" since I have a real OS.
who are you trying to get at here, the only person who would take offence to fucking juvenile insults like that are apple fanboys (of which there are none in this thread)
I used one of those once, it was fucking annoying
What? It was really good, no different to a trackpad really, better infact. [editline]21st October 2011[/editline]
who are you trying to get at here, the only person who would take offence to fucking juvenile insults like that are apple fanboys (of which there are none in this thread)
I'm just saying, windows really isn't that bad with touch, and I have the largest repository of software ever made on it.
Weird, I loved it. So do all my professors who have one.
Then why doesn't everyone have one? Granted it probably worked better than the 'let's use a vertical touchscreen monitor with windows vista' jobbie that HP were trying to sell but it was still a fucking mess.
Then why doesn't everyone have one? Granted it probably worked better than the 'let's use a vertical touchscreen monitor with windows vista' jobbie that HP were trying to sell but it was still a fucking mess.
Like I said before, X86 = bad on battery and expensive. And since when have you seen a windows tablet advert, never. Apple obnoxiously advertise their crap, that's the only reason why it's well known.
I used one of those once, it was fucking annoying
In Windows 7, they really aren't all that bad to use. The biggest annoyance I have, is that the scroll bar defaults to the right side of the screen, which is a problem, because I'm left handed.
uhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh no
The personal computer as we know it today would not exist if he didn't see the potential in Steve Wozniak's pre-built systems. Before that computers were relegated to the tech crowd, companies and office spaces. They weren't acessable, were overly expensive for their limited tasks at that time, and overall were not good for the average user. While Steve Jobs, and Apple in general, do tend to steal ideas, they do manage to realize the potential some of the ideas they take have before any other company. Other companies then make that idea actually useful for the everyman after Apple have had their fun (it took a while for other companies to make similar smartphones in vein of the iPhone). I don't support their actions, and Steve Jobs is a massive (buried) penis. But without Apple and his ways, personal computing would not be what it is today. That you cannot deny.
Then why doesn't everyone have one? Granted it probably worked better than the 'let's use a vertical touchscreen monitor with windows vista' jobbie that HP were trying to sell but it was still a fucking mess.
Really fucking expensive for a good one. They tend to be for more specialized applications like education and the likes. [editline]21st October 2011[/editline] Goddammit automerge.
I'm just saying, windows really isn't that bad with touch, and I have the largest repository of software ever made on it.
And I'm not knocking windows; I guess you could get used to it if you used it long enough, but compared to an iPad (I don't even like the iPad, the only thing I can respect it for is making people realize that tablets are actually pretty cool, and also the immense amount of apps for it) it's awfully inelegtant and no-one's going to buy it because windows has almost no tactile feedback for touch and has one of the worst UIs for touch imaginable.
