Race? What do you mean by that? Why do we have to race each other any way, especially in awesome shit like this space exploring. It's not like we can write our name all over space or whatever the fuck, anyone can claim it as their own, and that's up to no good :colbert:
Right because that's why we've gone back to the moon and got a man on Mars after the Soviet Union no longer posed a threat in the Space Race. "In the name of Humanity" is an incredibly poor excuse to seriously invest in something when you're a nation.
Space Race 2030! Of course this event shall be televised.
Why would you use the moon as a staging ground for a mars mission? It's not even 0.1% closer to it than Earth is.
It would also be a colossal waste of resources to get there, just to head a further distance to mars
"In the name of Humanity" is an incredibly poor excuse to seriously invest in something when you're a nation.
Which is a horrible shame
This conversation took place last night. Me: "Hey mom did you hear that Russia has plans to build a base on the moon within the next 20 years?" Mom: "They can't do that, it's our moon! We have a flag there! Do they have a flag there? I don't think so. Me: ":sigh:"
As the saying used to go in the cold war: "Would you want to live under a red moon?"
Reminded me of that
Let us know is you find the Nazi base up there!
As the saying used to go in the cold war: "Would you want to live under a red moon?"
Hell yeah I would. A red moon would be awesome to look at!
And this will be blasted all throughout the base:
spoiler alert
Hopefully this will trigger another space race. I don't give a shit about who gets there first, as long as someone gets there in not too long!
God it's like a solar flare fried everyone's sarcasm detectors or something
We don't tolerate failed comdians here.
Wrong and wrong. You still have to escape Earth's gravity to get to the Moon, so it's vastly more expensive to build shit in lunar orbit than Earth orbit. The only way that makes sense is if everything for the Mars mission is built on the Moon and flown to lunar orbit, but we aren't going to be building anything on the Moon in our lifetimes. Landing on the Moon requires a shitload more energy than landing on Earth because you have to burn fuel the entire way down. Thanks to the atmosphere, landing on Earth takes almost no energy, you just have to lower your orbit enough for air resistance to slow you down. The Shuttle lands unpowered, and Apollo just plowed into the atmosphere on the way back from the Moon without wasting fuel to stop in orbit first. Any Mars mission would have to be assembled in Earth orbit before departure, utilizing multiple heavy-lift launches. Going to the Moon in the context of a mission to Mars is pointless.
The Moon is further away, so the gravitational pull is weaker there than on the Earth's surface, but that doesn't matter since it's orbiting the Earth meaning that Earth's gravity has no effect on you if you're moving together with the Moon. Since the Moon is orbiting the Earth, it could also be used as a form of sling shot into space when it's moving towards Mars in its orbit.
Reminded me of that
Love that game.
When there is no sky of blue in the space it will be easy to wake up from the asleep
America won't do this unless they find oil on the moon.
congrats Russia, but since your taken the moon, we go ahead and make a base for mars. Let me know if you found anything useful in the moon.

But what if it floats away!!!!!
I thought of Destroy All Humans! 2.
Not to mention the large deposits of titanium and rocket fuel.
That too, although I imagine mining our moon and transporting the material elsewhere would be a bad idea :v:
All taxpayers and budget money for this shit would be stealed by officials.
But what if it floats away!!!!!
Are you high...
Are you high...
Are you easily trolled and led astray?
I do hope I am around to see it. So much I'll miss once I die.
Are you easily trolled and led astray?
No, i was just playing along Besides, that was not even trolling
