What the fuck. This is absolute bullshit, we shouldn't have to stand for this blatant corruption.

Who is going to stop the corrupt ones?
Good job bringing in the NRA when they had absolutely nothing to do with this.
Can none of you fucks RTFA? It says in the article that the NRA was the primary lobby to get the stand your ground law passed
Edit: never mind it's an opinion piece. Flame away.

How is it corruption? This is a piece that is simply sharing the authors opinion.
This cause is still going to jury trial and all that. So his peers will be the judge and give him a verdict.

Really dude... Shut up and get out.
Who is going to stop the corrupt ones?
Superpowered, blue, naked men.
And a giant squid.
Surprise! Wait, that's not a surprise.
In all honesty, I expect a severely negative response out of this.
I like how Zimmerman's father claims he can't be racist since he has black friends.
The media said race was an issue, not someone was racist. Society depicts "troublemakers" and "suspicious figures" as black or latino youths dressed casually. The victim would not have raised any flags in Zimmerman's mind if it was a white kid.
I smell a riot.
In Orlando? Good luck.
According to the Guardian there was a phone call between the victim and his girlfriend that pretty much confirms that the defendant's claim is bullshit. So how is he still innocent?
And how the fuck are your gun laws lax enough to give a whackjob like this a firearm?
This kid didn't deserve any of this. He was a football player, a straight-A student and all around a well loved kid.
My condolences go out to the family.
Reminds me of this : http://www.newgrounds.com/portal/view/280969
Boy I love this country's justice system.
Nothing but the best for the best country in the world.
You wouldn't find these idiotic laws anywhere else in the world.
Great to see the justice system working for once.

Even if he was a lazy fuck who dropped out of high school, it still doesn't matter.

It's because of a state law, not federal.
If he doesn't get prosecuted, the outcry from this is gonna big enough to spark witch hunts against him. Basically, living his life normally is no longer an option
Wow
Racism, that's all there is to it. Sooo fucked up
"Neighborhood watch" sounds fascist as fuck.
Hmm..the article does say that Zimmerman was found with a head injury. It does seem likely that the kid wasn't at fault and that it was a racially motivated attack, but you have to wonder what happened here.

Or the guy freaked out and hurt himself to cover it up. People do that. Not to mention, Zimmerman came up to him in a pretty threatening manor telling him to leave, when he was in his own neighborhood walking home. I'd be kind of scared if I was a kid and some older man comes up to me like that.
Perhaps he did hurt himself, but what if he didn't? Not defending the man but I'm trying to look at this from a non-biased perspective.
And Shepherds we shall be, for thee my Lord for thee...
Those who get the reference will understand.

Read the second part of what I said.
This has nothing to do with the NRA.

Good job bringing in the NRA when they had absolutely nothing to do with this.

Because the NRA wrote the constitution and built a giant laser that turns people into idiots right
The legal question at the heart of the case involves Florida's so-called "stand your ground" law, which the legislature passed, at the behest of the National Rifle Association, in 2005.
the nra has an incredible amount of lobbying power for what it is. i've never understood that
NRA are not all paranoid gun nuts. I am a lifetime NRA member, and avid shooter. I attend tons of NRA meetings, gun club events, etc and have never met a "paranoid gun nut." Cut out the leftist propaganda attitude.
do you realize that being a lifetime NRA member, an avid shooter, and attending all those things makes you a gun nut
also please explain what you think "leftist propaganda" is. what a meaningless ignorant term. in this context, there are plenty of leftist propagandists that are also gun nuts i bet

No, a gun nut is defined as some paranoid nutjob who thinks he needs guns to keep away the communists. Everyone I've ever met doesn't fall into that category. Your propaganda talk is your gun nut speech.

why even bring the word paranoid into it?
use common sense when you think about the term 'gun nut' - someone who's nutty about guns. you
also what propaganda talk?

You're bringing in 2A discussion into a thread where it isn't warranted. Things like this are why the second amendment is going away. Sorry, I am an American and I like my rights intact.

Yeah.
Somebody told ABC they saw the kid on top of the guy at one point, so it's quite likely the kid (reasonably) saw someone coming at him with a gun and acted in self defense, causing the head injuries.
