No free healthcare, buddy.
Better to pay a bit more on taxes than front a 100 grand bill because your current insurance doesn't cover your pre-existing condition
Just because nothing is wrong with you now, doesn't mean there won't be, and there will be sooner or later
-snip- I have bad reading.
No free healthcare, buddy.
Sorry, I'm an idiot.
Only 3 more needed for the reconciliation

Wooo
camera man on feed has ADD
Who was that guy that stumbled into the hallway behind Obama right at the beginning of his speech? The look on his face was priceless.
Hopefully the Senate will get the reconciliation fixes through, they've been pretty careful to avoid anything the Parliamentarian could catch them on. Either way, what we've just seen is a defining event in the president's first term.

i thought reconciliation passed?
220-211?
i thought reconciliation passed?

That was the House reconciliation bill, it needs to be passed in the Senate with at least 50 votes. Health reform has been passed into law, but this reconciliation bill contains all the fixes the House wants and axes some of the special deals they made to get 60 votes on the original bill.
No free healthcare, buddy.
Anyone under $88000 family income gets subsidies.
But it's not like you'll get any Mr. Lawyer.
Did it pass?
Did it pass?
Unfortunately, yes. 219-212. :sigh: America is fucked.
Is the OP actually The Barack Obama or just someone pretending to be?
Unfortunately, yes. 219-212. :sigh: America is fucked.
You are an idiot, this thing saves uncountable amount of lives.
But no, its socialist, boohoo. The Cold War is over genius, incase you didn't notice.

Well, whoever he is, hes good. All of his posts are very offical-like, and well thought.
Althought I lol'd how he completely ignored one part of the statement made by Bathacker "You need to establish superiority in Congress, man.
Break someone's jaw. " in http://www.facepunch.com/showthread.php?p=20832986#post20832986
I wouldn't even feel stupid for falling for this guy, he's good. But the chances of President itself registering into Facepunch, which is mostly centered around Garry's Mod. But has expanded further from that. Would be possible if his daughter plays Garry's Mod.

Haha wow
That should have gone through your head in about a fifth of a second
Obama has no sons
I personally credit this thread for passing the bill. We argued long and hard about fuck-all, and in the end, the result was one that the majority of us can agree with. Good job guys

What's that one emote with the guy saluting in front of the flag?

This one? :patriot:
If so, the code is :patriot: .
Fortunately, yes. 219-212. :sigh: America is better off.
Fixed.
Free healthcare is tried and tested. Just look at the NHS in the UK: I hate Labour, but I am prepared to admit that the NHS was the one good thing that they introduced.
Only an idiot can claim it's a bad idea. How is it bad? In what way does it ruin the country?
Either way, I think the right choice was made. Well done, Yanks. :patriot:

The problem is we've got some weird-ass insurance-based system that nobody except Lankist understands
I was just checking out CNN and I watched a few videos... Fuck man, it looks like we're about to have another Civil War. I realize Americans are too scared, but all it takes is one drunk redneck to fire into a crowd screaming "States RIGHTS!!!"...
Even though the NHS has ruined the lives of 2 of my closest relatives with their incompetence, I still recognise the importance of accessible health care. So despite my personal hatred of our health care system in the UK I'm glad the bill passed it will benefit the US greatly. As the NHS saves a lot of lives in comparison to the amount of lives it ruins.
Gentlemen, congratulations. You are now officially not the laughingstock of the western world wehn it comes to healthcare. But there is still work to be done.
Now if you will excuse me, i will go out and break my arm in celebration of these wonderfull news.

People said civil war would break out if Obama was voted in. Didn't happen. A lot of talk... If I see a gun shot I'll join the side which fired the shot.
What I fail to understand is why Europeans and non-Americans care so much about America's Health Care bill. IS it because all you EU fuckers like company for the state of misery you are in? Frankly I don't understand why we should hand people healthcare who don't want to work, don't want health care, or are just plain illegal immigrants. I can understand in a few special cases there are the people who are generally down trodden, but frankly it seems like a shotgun approach.
Rate me dumb, and disagree all you like, I rarely get involved in GD discussions for the very reason that the people who frequent are so very very liberal, calling themselves open minded yet can not for the life of themselves accept that others have differing opinions. If I get banned for trolling so be it, this post will probably have very little effect on you all anyway. If it does have an effect (as in it hurts the very views you hold near and dear to your heart) I will know because you will call me a backwoods conservative hick, even though I am from probably the most liberal state in the union, Connecticut.
You will also probably say that I am an uneducated teenager who just repeats everything his parents spout off. While I agree with their opinions on this specific bill, it is due to the fact that I think its wrong, not because they told me its wrong.
Anyone you guys disagree with you insult and call right wing nut jobs, Fox news watchers, etc. You call yourselves progressive even though you are some of the most exclusive people around, all because God knows why.

*This applies to everyone except Lankist, not because I agree with what he says (many times I don't) but because he always plays the Devil's advocate.
The problem is we've got some weird-ass insurance-based system that nobody except Lankist understands
No we don't. We don't get anything to that effect, they passed reconciliation.
In the house, it still has to go back to the senate.
