Terminator: Genisys gets two sequels dated for 2017 and 2018
I actually found him to be quite suited to that role, modern Arnold is always "Arnold" in his movies, with the original Terminator he was still relatively unknown. He was this blank, menacing, unstoppable force that mowed down people without blinking an eye, no quips or one liners just monotone, which added to the image of a killing machine.
Although it's not a very popular opinion, I enjoyed the original Terminator more than the second, but they are very different films.
The second one and first one vary so greatly in style and tone that they bring me entirely different experiences as films.
T1 is a dark, grim and gripping world and Arnolds portrayl of him is genuinely chilling because it's so blank. It's a low budget film in comparison to the second and it's a very strong film even with the aged practical effects. It's paced really, really well too.
T2 is a more large scale hollywood action film, at the revival of hollywoods golden age in the early 90's, it's grandiose, thematically strong, and well paced out and filled with much more relatable characters and a much more open and approachable style of directing for a greater appeal to audiences. It's one of the greats and classics in my opinion.
If I recall Salvation was meant to be a trilogy. But then it ended up not doing too well with reviews so they scrapped the idea.
Guess this is their attempt to do it again.
Probably because they tried to do terminator as PG13
That, and MGC's involvement totally killed any marketing momentum the movie had. Which sucks because I actually thought he did a fucking great job. The script was terrible, but he did good. I actually think the whole movie is decent up till the skynet siege.
the scenes where his left eye is robotic, it is clearly not arnold in those scenes, its a mask.
It actually wasn't. His entire head was a puppet in those scenes, with two different guys off screen acting as his left and right arms. The close up shots of his eye was a gigantic replica of his face.
The only thing to cringe at here is your inability to fathom just how much of a fucking accomplishment that was back then. Especially with the low budget they had.
Not only was it in fucking 84, but it was low budget in 84.

He's just saying it aged poorly. It doesn't matter how much of an accomplishment it is or was for it's time, but you can atleast agree that it just doesn't look like arnold enough to be worth a whole shot showing it off.
You sure about that?

The state of latex was pretty shit back then (and silicone rubber was a distant dream) but that sculpt and paint job and especially the hair punching/ hair match is top level shit. Not was, is. A good sculpt doesn't age.
Really, the material is entirely at fault here. That old latex was a rapidly rotting, shrinky mess. AND it was wet. Untreated latex when wet... It looked fucking gorgeous... until they soaked it in milk.
the effects were fine at the time, they don't take away from the movie at all
The real thing that held that sequence together were the bloody eye "shells" landing in the sink. Blood wafting around in the water like smoke. That bit still gets me.
Man, Terminator is never gonna be that hardcore again :T
Comparing Terminator and Judgement Day is apples and oranges. They're both fruits but of a different nature.
Terminator is a horror/sci-fi drama that has a dark atmosphere and a terrifying villain
Judgement Day is an action film with a time-twisting subplot and a strong-armed anti-hero
Both great films, in my opinion

I still wish Terminator 2 actually had Michael Biehn as the T-1000 as originally planned. That would've been a whole new, awesome plot device.
(Plus I'm a huge Michael Biehn fan.)
I want to see a movie with an unassuming low profile chameleon terminator. Even the T-1000 was rly obtuse.
genisys could be the name of a new line for transformers toys
Genisys sounds like a group remaking the albums of Genesis into some neo 80 electronic mishmash
Just hope that Terminator: Genesis is going to be awesome. I always loved the Terminators movies and still do. One of my favourite scenes is this one.

I just think of a robotic killer Phil Collins sent back in time to kill John Connor, but they also send back a robotic Peter Gabriel to protect him and they have to fight.
It would be awesome to have a whole movie in the the style of the future scenes from the first two films, if it's supposed to be set in the future. That was the biggest letdown of Salvation for me- they threw out that extremely dark, moody, evocative image of the future and replaced it with a generic post-apocalyptic look with robots.

That would have been really awesome, especially since terminator 2 started off [sp]assuming that arnold was still the bad guy[/sp], that would have made that scene like a trillion times more cool.
very very minor spoiler incase u havent watched this 20 yo movie..

That's a major plot point that was meant to be a surprise to people watching the film, but advertisements completely ruined it. It was a known spoiler before it came out and the movie is pretty well known so I think you're safe talking about it here.
far as i'm concerned there were none after 2
and even 2 feels like a watered down cashgrab compared to the first one
maybe i'm just a hipster idk
It's like Alien vs Aliens, one's a sci-fi thriller and the other's sci-fi action

Amazingly I have only ever watched the original Terminator. Three times now.
Never watched the other ones. No particular reason why, either. It just hasn't happened. :v:
