I honestly think that people shouldn't perform abortions on fetuses with down syndrome. They should be allowed to, but they shouldn't do it. Someone with down syndrome can still live a happy productive life.
However, I draw the line at diseases that permanently lock the person's intelligence to that of a toddler. Abortion is the humane thing to do at that point.
and people think banning abortion is going to fucking stop abortions, instead women will have to go to Black Market Doctors to preform the abortion, threatening the lives of the mother.

In many cases, downs syndrome does lock the person's intelligence to a toddlers level, and in some cases may be even worse due to their destructive and self-injuring tendencies. Inagine having to feed, clothe and bathe your child for most of their life while they actively fight you every step of the way. I had a person with downs syndrome in my grade growing up, and she had to constantly have her mother around for whenever she had a tantrum and stabbed herself or hurt someone. The mother was visibly sick of all it, and I wouldn't wish that on anyone. Yes, there are some people with downs that can lead a productive life, but in my opinion (yes, as a male who would never have to face this decision and can say just about anything about this subject) is that the risk of throwing away all your life's work and aspirations to take care of a permanent toddler that will occupy every waking moment of your life is far too high in the case of downs syndrome to keep the baby.

I agree with your first paragraph but I take issue with your second. Should people be allowed to abort babies with those type of conditions? Probably. But it should not be forced on them in my opinion. I have a sister with a severe learning difficulty and autism, and yet she is a happy child. My parents would have never, under no circumstances, aborted her. Of course I'm obviously biased both because of my family and where I live (we have terrible and backwards laws on abortion here), but I feel abortion should never be forced on mothers and families - but it must be provided as a choice in these cases.
