Reddit has great content sometimes but the majority of the website is shitheads and the reddit UI makes that an even more glaring fault because the comments have a vote system which really isn't the right way to handle comments I can see it being used to handle the threads but for comments it makes it impossible to discuss anything since the less-liked opinion immediately gets down-voted to the point most can't read it (because it falls below a "minimum score to read" threshold)
I find their mission admirable, but honestly I'd rather gouge my eyes out with toothpicks than visit SRS on most days.
and from that came r/circlebroke, a better subreddit to complain about other subreddits [editline]18th February 2013[/editline]
This thread. Seriously, it's a commander from ISS doing an AMA and almost all the posts are complaining about websites.
when have you seen an SH thread that keeps the discussion about the actual article going for more than half a page if an SH thread is more than a page long it's either a discussion about things fpers dislike, or guns (airsoft forum gun nuts vs everyone else), or transgenders (the sanius squad/ts thread vs everyone else)

Order of thread replies on Reddit: Meme (becomes Reddit famous) I agree. I agree. I'm not sure. I don't agree. Hmm, I disagree, here's why
Order of thread replies on Facepunch: - First reply: irrelevant, completely off-topic post by a person who absolutely NEEDS to tell others how much he hates Reddit - Now the whole thread is about how Reddit is good / bad. The word circlejerk describes the situation perfectly. GG, derailed at first reply. On Reddit, if you keep comments sorted by top, most of the shitposting gets filtered out nicely. You're left with more or less quality replies. You often see long, well written and incredibly insightful comments about the topic discussed. I can't count the number of times a bullshit sensationalistic article has made it to the frontpage and the top comment completely debunked all the claims made in it. Yeah, there's also a fair amount of pun / circlejerk threads as well, but honestly Facepunch has just as many of those.
