'restraint' haha
As far as I'm concerned, if Israel (really fucking) wanted to finish what they started they would have done it already without caring what the international community thinks (which they will probably end up doing).
And they'll keep pushing until Israel tells the international community to fuck off and levels Gaza. Israel's responses continue to grow more and more disproportionate as the previous operations haven't worked; eventually they'll stop giving a flying fuck about what the rest of the world has to say, and will just finish what they start. The international community is completely impotent when it comes to any nation that isn't a shithole, in such cases no-one will do anything besides a strongly worded letter and maybe a sanction that doesn't do a damn thing. Israel could literally level the gaza strip and the UN wouldn't say shit except "hey, you guys.. seriously.. stop" and the UN security council would veto anything that could remotely cause anything to actually happen. And it happens like that because every permanent member of the security council has vested interests around the world, Actions will only be taken if it's in their best interest. You're a fool if you think they act out of other countries "best interests".
They can't defeat Hamas. Ever. It exists as a symbol just as much as an organisation. As long as they subjugate Palestinians there will be a strong call for violent resistance. The only way Israel can ever win is either they exterminate the Palestinians (they can't) or Palestine get their own functioning state. Hamas knows this. They have the political will and social support to play the long game. They're still a democracy ya know. Israel doesn't show restraint, they operate at the maximum they're capable of.
http://972mag.com/west-bank-kidnapping-israels-crackdown-moves-beyond-hamas-militants/92162/ it was a deliberate move to antagonize Hamas.
Actually, Israel managed to arrest one of the men involved in the killings and he has admitted to receiving both orders and funding from Hamas leadership to get a team for abducting/killing Israelis. So Israel was actually right about this. Source.

Israel has more advanced infantry weapons, nuclear weapons, a small air force to add on to that, and more manpower, clearly enough to get the job done. Your telling me they are at maximum capability already?

Just because America has the ability to turn most of the world to ash doesn't mean they're capable of doing so in every conflict.

Just because America has the ability to turn most of the world to ash doesn't mean they're capable of doing so in every conflict.
There is a difference between the entire world and a strip of land known as Gaza. Plus, America cares just a little bit more about what they do in front of the international community, Israel, not so much. I'm also not talking exclusively in terms of nuclear weaponry.
