By opposing the division of the two countries?
If the country makes it illegal to peacefully protest then all that's really left to do is violence since it's obvious the government doesn't want to go peacefully.

If I recall my history lessons, The British empire did not take lightly to Gandhi stirring shit up and when they saw it was impossible for them to keep India as a colony, they essentially triggered a civil war to split the country in two and fuck over the independence as much as possible.
Also Gandhi was killed by an Hindu fanatic who was persuaded he was plotting on a muslim takeover of India.
PFHAHAHAAHA.
I just watched news on my TV.
Apparently Yanukovich is just "normalising the law and making it in accordance to international laws".
My fucking sides, keep it up russian TV.

Also reports from yesterday's fights:
200 wounded, 1 hand amputated and 3 eyes lost
The most disgusting thing about this is that there are high chances the international community will do jack shit, apart from a quiet "Ukraine pls no" from the UN, maybe.
Considering this and the fact people overreacted like crazy to the golden dawn thing in Greece, I'm kind of lead to believe that as long as a dictatorship isn't directly branding itself as Nazi, then no one gives a shit about it.
I am very against violence and especially against killing but when you read about something like this... they've made it an inevitability. When you take away people's rights to protect their rights peaceably, what's left?
Not only are they specifically targeting forms of protest to make them illegal, they are basically moving to make the political opposition (and supporting them) as illegal as they can make it.
I mean really, what can you do when the unofficial and official means of protest and change are both banned?

Or I don't know send the fucking army and declare war
Pretty sure member states of the UN have a right to intervene in another member state when they can't handle their own shit anymore

France and other countries have been sending troops in numerous middle-eastern countries to try and fuck over terrorists as much as possible yet I am supposed to believe sending troops in Ukraine to fuck over literal tyrants it out of our reach ?
Russia would put a stop to that faster than you could say "Putin".
The Tsar would not tolerate UN troops in his puppet states.
Why is it that small scumbag countries somehow always manage to avoid trouble by just taking the big sweaty cock of a bigger state right in their ass
If only the Oglaf website was up right now I have the best idea for an edit
Usually the fact that they are scumbags is directly related to the amount of big-state cock they take up the ass.
Man, Israel's anus must be one crowded shitstopper.

It's a little early at this point to be calling for a military intervention by the European Union, NATO, or the United Nations. What we have are riots and protests in the Ukraine right now, but it hasn't transitioned into an actual civil war-- yet.
No one's doing anything yet. Not the West, not Russia and Putin. Let's try and keep it that way for as long as we can.
I'm slightly concerned at the ease with which the debate has turned into "how do we stop this?"
It's an entirely internal issue to Ukraine, and they ought to solve it among themselves. We have no right to violate Ukrainian sovereignty.

Like this for example. The UN isn't a world police, and we can't just send troops into another country because we don't like the political situation that is unfolding. The West sent troops into Mali because the Malian government requested their assistance in keeping law and order.
If Ukraine actually degenerates into a civil war, then a military intervention by neighboring states might be a legitimate action. But if dictatorship returns to Ukraine and things calm down, then there's not much we can or should do. You don't see us invading Belarus.

Why? Sacrifice our own citizens for a moral crusade, the outcome of which would be uncertain, and past experience has shown that we might just make things even worse?
If there is to be a fight, it ought to be over quickly. Democracy or Autocracy, both are reasonably stable. The in-between state - Anocracy - is the bad one. Power is up for grabs, factions erupt and splinter and fear, uncertainty and doubt fill the air.
When the West intervenes in a conflict they usually back the "plucky underdogs" - the starry-eyed moral heroes fighting for Liberty and Democracy and Equality. Politicians gain the advantage of both appearing principled, and not having to fear the electoral repercussions from the people they are actually affecting, if things go badly. The media, obviously, gains a story worth its weight in gold, with Good Guys and Bad Guys, where We (the readers) are supporting the Good Guys, which makes us feel good about ourselves and continue to buy more newspapers and watch more cable news. Advocacy groups see it as more opportunity to gain political power and influence across the board by having charity fundraisers and prominent celebrities endorse their cause. And last but not least, future dictators-in-waiting recognize the opportunity to both seize power, and get in the West's good books by leading the protestors.
The problem with this, is that by propping up the weaker in the fight you necessarily prolong it, which leads to more bloodshed. The ones that lose out are the ones we're intending to help.
