Well sure if a grandfather thing was added. That's not to discount the strong possibility that despite all other flaws, if you banned guns, there would be less of them around (just like how alcohol was banned, and consumption dropped).
You do realize guns are built to last right unless the US government breaks into houses and breaks guns by force, there won't be any drop in the amount of guns.
Well sure if a grandfather thing was added. That's not to discount the strong possibility that despite all other flaws, if you banned guns, there would be less of them around (just like how alcohol was banned, and consumption dropped).
There would probably be the same amount of guns around, actually. All of the guns in the market would simply be claimed as "private property" by the salesmen who legally own them, thus allowing them to do as they wish with them.
i hope we can all agree that no one needs rifle grenades, though
seriously dude? thats the dumbest one of them all 1. you cant even get rifle grenades without a class 3 permit 2. no one even fucking makes RGs anymore so they would be INSANELY expensive milsurp from last century 3. the rule bans counts the fucking ATTACHMENT as the dangerous part, not even the grenades themselves im really surprised you dont know more about this considering how much you hang out in the airsoft section

That's not to discount the strong possibility that despite all other flaws, if you banned guns, there would be less of them around (just like how alcohol was banned, and consumption dropped).
Less of them *Produced* There would still be the same amount of guns around.
New guns and bullets must come from domestic producers however. Distilleries shut down, and I think firearms factories would too. Guns are complicated pieces of machinery. If you shut down a lot of factories producing them and their spare parts, a lot of gun owners would start to face difficulties with maintaining existing guns or buying new ones. [editline]18th December 2012[/editline] I'm not discounting that however. Consumption actually did drop.
So whered you get your degree in gunsmithing exactly? Ever heard of an AK?
Except my argument isn't about the problems it would cause. My argument is that prohibition reduces consumption.

That's essentially how they started off. Guns didn't just grow on trees you know, just ask John Browning.
So whered you get your degree in gunsmithing exactly? Ever heard of an AK?
I never knew every gun was an AK. [editline]18th December 2012[/editline]
You're forgetting that guns and bullets can both be made by someone in their own home. That's essentially how they started off.
seriously dude? thats the dumbest one of them all 1. you cant even get rifle grenades without a class 3 permit 2. no one even fucking makes RGs anymore so they would be INSANELY expensive milsurp from last century 3. the rule bans counts the fucking ATTACHMENT as the dangerous part, not even the grenades themselves im really surprised you dont know more about this considering how much you hang out in the airsoft section
You could probably make a working rifle grenade.
Because you said that guns weren't needed by local communities due to them being weapons designed only for killing. I raised the fact that bows were made for the same thing. You then completely dodged it by saying how bows take more skill.
I said why does the local population need them if they are only designed for hunting and military usage. And bows are weapons. And you've managed to steer very far away from my original point of people putting cars and knives into the same category as assault weapons.
Less of them *Produced* There would still be the same amount of guns around.
If a demand for guns doesn't exist, then why does a massive domestic industry exist?
Except my argument isn't about the problems it would cause. My argument is that prohibition reduces consumption.
And you've been told repeatedly that it's a completely and utterly meaningless statistic.
New guns and bullets must come from domestic producers however. Distilleries shut down, and I think firearms factories would too. Guns are complicated pieces of machinery. [editline]18th December 2012[/editline] I'm not discounting that however. Consumption actually did drop.
Guns are not complicated. You want to know how a gun works? It's a pin striking a piece of brass with a small amount of explosives in it, and the explosives propel the bullet at the end of the brass. Having a gun is simply about having something to fire, a means to propel it, and a way to set off the reaction. Guns are designed to be cheap and easy to make, that was the only way that armies could be armed with them on a mass scale. A gun is literally just a trigger pushing a pin forward to strike at the back of a cartridge.
Except most guns in the world are mass produced in factories that use standardized parts.
And? that just makes them easier to replicate. There's this thing called metalsmithing, it's only been around for four thousand years so i guess you haven't heard of it
You do realize guns are built to last right
Well so are automobiles but those still get built en masse.
seriously dude? thats the dumbest one of them all 1. you cant even get rifle grenades without a class 3 permit 2. no one even fucking makes RGs anymore so they would be INSANELY expensive milsurp from last century 3. the rule bans counts the fucking ATTACHMENT as the dangerous part, not even the grenades themselves im really surprised you dont know more about this considering how much you hang out in the airsoft section
Well I mean I imagine the attachment is the enabler for it, I know exactly what you mean though. I mean you can have the grenade with a C-3, and that'd be sick and i'm okay with that, display purposes and collecting. I figure they said "well the lock wont work if we throw away the key" and tossed that onto the list.
And the people with guns would start killing government employees. You would spark a war. Rightfully so.
I'm not discounting that however. Consumption actually did drop.
Yes, it was just replaced by a drastic increase in the consumption of bullets by innocent people and police.
You could probably make a working rifle grenade.
and just as easily make a mount for it to stick on the end of a rifle whats your point?
Except most guns in the world are mass produced in factories that use standardized parts.
Standardized parts that are relatively easy to reproduce. I have a whole book that shows each and every part of hundreds of firearms. If I really wanted to, I could make my own gun from scratch using those schematics, and it would be just as good as one made in a factory.
If a demand for guns doesn't exist, then why does a massive domestic industry exist?
The fuck are you even on about? If you slap a legislative ban on something, it will still continue to be in demand. Look at fucking GTA SA.
You could probably make a working rifle grenade.
Also this, potentially. Don't get me wrong guys, this ban needs some serious ironing out, I agree, but I can see why they'd do it.
If a demand for guns doesn't exist, then why does a massive domestic industry exist?
Because there would still be a demand and the available supply would be unfathomably large.
Well so are automobiles but those still get built en masse.
And? That just means there are many, many more durable guns out there. The amount won't drop.
and just as easily make a mount for it to stick on the end of a rifle whats your point?
My point is that I was pointing out how easy it could be to come into possession of an explosive. It wasn't so much of an argument as it was an attempted contradiction.
and just as easily make a mount for it to stick on the end of a rifle whats your point?
True enough, honestly I'm not sure what a rifle grenade mount even is. Is it just a way to hold it, or does it have some sort of primer? EDIT: Oh wait do they like feed into the barrel and use that as a primer? Because that would make sense too.
And the people with guns would start killing government employees. You would spark a war. Rightfully so.
Except the number of guns in circulation would still drop, especially once the "war" got crushed in a matter of weeks.
Yes, it was just replaced by a drastic increase in the consumption of bullets by innocent people and police.
Except I am not contesting this? Alcohol consumption did actually drop.
True enough, honestly I'm not sure what a rifle grenade mount even is. Is it just a way to hold it, or does it have some sort of primer? EDIT: Oh wait do they like feed into the barrel and use that as a primer?
And? That just means there are many, many more durable guns out there. The amount won't drop.
How many are there total in the US? 1 billion? Well there are enough to making a ban retarded.
Oh so essentially a stick and a ring. [editline]18th December 2012[/editline]
Mount hold the projectile until applicable force is applied to propel it, weather that be a live round or a blank.
