Coming from somebody who owns a lot of bows and crossbows (me) I frankly can't draw a distinction in why you'd think bows and/or crossbows are any safer than "assault weapons." Most people would likely be able to figure out how to use a bow before they can figure out how to operate a firearm, and it only takes a bow with a measly 10# of draw force in order to pierce human flesh. Bows are weapons. You don't need to own a bow any more than you need to own a firearm.
Firearm = instant bang, projectile at 1254543fps ripping through your flesh. Cheap.
It depends on what you choose to do with them. I don't want to shoot any living thing with my gun, but I guess since I have a gun I am a killer despite not wanting to kill anything (not even animals)
I'm not trying to insinuate that if you own a gun you're a killer, I'm just pointing out that a guns common use hasn't changed.
I didn't do it for fun when I'm with the boys having a few beers, I did it to familiarize myself with my weapon so I could use it for it's intended purpose
what if the intended purpose of your gun isnt hunting?

Target shooting.
1254543fps
Aren't you just the funniest.
I'm not trying to insinuate that if you own a gun you're a killer, I'm just pointing out that a guns common use hasn't changed.
I'd argue that the primary use of firearms in the US is recreation, not killing people.
Target shooting.
Target shooting is just a pastiche.
Target shooting.
You change what you shoot at, but that doesn't change what it does.
I should rephrase me saying kill to destroy at this point.
I didn't do it for fun when I'm with the boys having a few beers, I did it to familiarize myself with my weapon so I could use it for it's intended purpose
What an absolutely ignorant statement, range shooting is one of the safest sports involving a firearm, and any range worth the dirt it stands on would kick out any idiot who is intoxicated in any capacity. I could find Toronto city councillors that hate guns who know more about their sporting use than you do, as illustrated by what you just said.
You change what you shoot at, but that doesn't change what it does.
A knife just changed what it cuts. The "what" is the important part.
Wasn't there a massacre committed just a few weeks prior to this where a kid killed 3 people in his school with a long bow?
It wouldn't surprise me. Like I said in regards to unarmored target (ie: fucking everybody) a bow is just as dangerous as any gun. They are both projectile weapons that are most often used within 50 yards of a target, and a broadhead arrow is actually capable of delivering injuries more lethal than almost any gunshot wound that could be generated with conventional ammunition.
Firearm = instant bang, projectile at 1254543fps ripping through your flesh. Cheap.
Okay, kid, let's do some math.
1254543 feet per second is equivalent to 237 MP/H. The largest used rifle caliber in the US, the 20mm, has a maximum FPS of 3,396 FP/S or only 0.00056818182 MP/H.
If you want to start arguing semantics, well you better prepare yourself, boy.
what if the intended purpose of your gun isnt hunting?
Then it's useless, like I was saying earlier. You shouldn't be firing weapons for fun, it's dangerous as fuck. Look at that video. They're designed for killing, so I use mine to kill white-tail and whatnot. Never would I imagine using my weapon on a human being, because I see what it does to a fucking deer. Now, if my life is in explicitly in danger, yes. It's my life over theirs. But I would never shoot somebody for any other reason, there's always a way out.

The matter is how fast you can.

LOL I was fucking exaggerating
If you want to start throwing around the words "kid" and "boy", why do you hide your age on here? You could be 12 for all I know, boy
Then it's useless, like I was saying earlier. You shouldn't be firing weapons for fun, it's dangerous as fuck. Look at that video.
Yes. The video was funny because the guy took no precautions, nor did he look prepared to fire such a massive round.
LOL I was fucking exaggerating
Oh like the rest of your inane comments? Well, with how you're acting it's hard to tell.
This is fucking hilarious

One video is enough to convince you that target shooting is super dangerous and is guaranteed to kill you. Many hobbies are dangerous. It's called being careful.

Age =/= Maturity
Let me guess, NDP and you've never even seen, let alone fired a gun in your entire life? You are the epitome of ignorance, please shut up.
I'm going to vote NDP in 2015, yet I support less intrusive gun legislation. One material item won't make me switch anytime soon because the current government, in my opinion is not doing very well.
Now, if my life is in explicitly in danger, yes. It's my life over theirs. But I would never shoot somebody for any other reason, there's always a way out.
This is why the majority of Americans withhold and exercise their right to a firearm, for protection.
To imply that we are all moronic killing machines is to be the epitome of ignorance ,please leave.

The video doesn't show what he shot at, there could be any number of reasons why that happened. I fired several magazines worth of ammo at a target and did everyone in a five mile radius die? Nope.
Then it's useless, like I was saying earlier. You shouldn't be firing weapons for fun, it's dangerous as fuck.
What about racing cars, sparring, MMA, demolition derbys, BMX racing, or swordfighting?
Those are all dangerous activities too, should people refrain from participating in them because you say so?
The matter is how fast you can.
So I guess that's why I'm allowed to buy breech-loaded firearms without a license.
Oh no wait, I'm not allowed to do that. :rolleye:
Target shooting is just a pastiche.
They're not training to kill people, which is what you're implying.
This is why the majority of Americans withhold and exercise their right to a firearm, for protection.

That's exactly what I'm implying because I'm ignorant and haven't been in every American's home to see their gun-stance/use
What I'm concerned about is the kind of weapons they have and why they have them. "I have an AK47 so I can intimidate and rip through people that break into my house". That's fucking ridiculous, like this entire issue.
Then it's useless, like I was saying earlier. You shouldn't be firing weapons for fun, it's dangerous as fuck. Look at that video. Please then, if you indeed think range shooting is dangerous, source some numbers of people killed when at a gun range. Go ahead, try. While you're at it, look up the statistics of people killed when hunting by a firearm. My guns are safer on the range than yours are in the forest, and if you seem to think otherwise, then you need to get your head out of your ass and perhaps actually try, I dunno, GOING TO A FUCKING RANGE to see first-hand that you're spouting complete idiocy at this point. Buying a gun for "fun" is not dangerous, it's probably the safest sport you can get involved in.
This is fucking hilarious
Congratulations, you've just admitted to trolling.
Ignore him and move on.
And what have knives become now, tools that get daily use be it in a multi-tool or on your dinner table or still used for hunting if you're so inclined.
All guns have become are more efficient killing machines.
javelin toss is completely disgusting, do those olympic athletes have any idea how many were killed by Roman legionnaires and their pilums? I saw we make them outright illegal, collect and burn all that we can, and if we ever catch someone in possession of one, we shoot him on sight
another thing I find reprehensible: helicopters. they were first put into use as war machines, how can the coast guard and emergency services use such a sanguine tool? it would be better for everyone, I say, if each and every helicopter were dismantled, all design documentation burned, and everyone with the knowledge of constructing helicopters be put in front of firing squads
even NASA was stained by the blood of the imperialist pig war machine in the 60s, we need to destroy all evidence of the moon landings and assassinate buzz aldrin, for the betterment of humankind
and I think, everyone here can agree, everything that has stemmed from the literal think tank DARPA absolutely must be erased off the face of this earth, if we are to keep our humanity intact
this list includes, of course: GPS, Tor, jet planes, holograms, and the internet itself
FOR THE GREATER GOOD
