please find me a chart detailing the amount of school shootings that didn't involve guns
That's irrelevant, you're basically implying all gun owners want to shoot up schools, rather than an extremely small minority of individuals.

please find me a chart detailing the amount of shootings that didn't happen despite high rates of gun ownership

Those guns were legally manufactured and distributed to society. I don't see how that is relevant to my universal statement seeing as ownership doesn't have to imply legal ownership anyway.
How much worse off would your life be without them?
Why do you think it's any of your business?

i know, it's hard to believe it's that simple. but here's the plain truth: if there are no guns, there will be no shootings. the concept of owning a gun is inherently retarded and there is no real reason for it. you can give me the "shoot at targets" and "hunting" argument all day but those are both leisure activities that no one actually needs to perform in order to get by.

no cars, no car-related deaths
no knives, no knife-related deaths
no airplanes, no airplane-related deaths
no horses, no horse-related deaths
you can say this about literally anything, turn to any page in the dictionary and pick the first noun you see and you can apply that concept to it and use it as a basis for a ban as far as you are concerned
please find me a chart detailing the amount of shootings that didn't happen despite high rates of gun ownership
there should be 0 shootings

And that's where we stop taking you seriously if that's how you want to argue.
The potential of the weapon exceeds the need, you don't need a semi-automatic gun when you can use a bolt-action for the same reason. You may want it but I don't think want and ownership of guns should overlap
You obviously don't have migratory bird hunting in Australia, you need a semi-auto to kill ducks and geese effectively, since the bag limit is something like 36 birds max, and up to 12 in one day in all of Canada, you need a fast follow-up shot to get that second or even third bird to bring home to your family out of the flock flying overhead. And since you seldom hunt alone, you and your hunting buddies are likely all using semis, and are all aiming at a different part of the flock, to make sure you can all get some food for your families.

should we ban fast cars and car racing?
if there are no guns, there will be no shootings.
so what you plan on doing is destroying every gun that's ever been made and lobotomizing everyone who knows how to make one?

allow me to list just a small handful of things originally intended to kill or help kill
-knives
-bows
-javelins
-helicopters
-jet planes
-gps
-the internet
-the principle of interchangeable parts
since each one of these things was developed with efficient killing specifically in mind, I guess we'd better give all of these things up, despite their modern day uses (preparing meat, sports, emergency medical transport and rescue, travel, communication, the creation of every single standardized item, etc)
lol you're acting like "eh it's only like a handful of shootings"

That is literally and completely impossible, there will ALWAYS be shootings because there will ALWAYS be guns, even with a complete ban, you cannot eliminate the existence of guns in this world. It's impossible.
And that's where we stop taking you seriously if that's how you want to argue.
oh my god
start giving me real reasons then. "history" and "gun culture" are not real reasons.
lol you're acting like "eh it's only like a handful of shootings"

And there should be 0 false incriminations of law-abiding citizens. Unfortunately, what you want would falsely incriminate almost 100,000 law-abiding citizens over a handful of shootings.

We gave you reasons. You said they "didn't matter". You can't just demand reasons and then go "WELL NOT THOSE ONES".
I just realized how much this thread feels like a '9/11 was an inside job' thread

i don't really think you're correct about a lot of those (or you're stretching the definition of some of them. like jet planes. people don't fly around in fucking fighter jets. they fly in passenger jets)

the jet was originally conceived as a more efficient way to put bombs on people the owner of the jet didn't like very much

passenger jets, derived from fighter jets, developed for stealth reconnaissance and bombing
knives, dating back to the stone age, made for hunting
bows and javelins for the same purpose
helicopters developed by Sikorsky for the Korean war
GPS and the internet developed by DARPA to 1. make nuclear launchers more accurate, and 2. provide fast efficient frontline communication
interchangeable parts to make repairing rifles easier
I'll get you sources on every single one of these tomorrow if you'd like, but until then, please stop posting thx
