Actually during WW2 many car plants produced firearms for the US Military with modifications to machinery.
you can't say "during ww2 yadi yadi yada" while simultaneously throwing up the "ak-47s weren't made since yadi yadi yada"
dude what if i just wanna fly around the desert and shoot rocks n shit
the risks outweigh the safe and responsible activities
if you own all the land you'll be flying over and everything you plan to shoot at and can be reasonably certain that none of your munitions are going to endanger the lives of anyone else then sure go for it whatever
ok
we already discussed passenger jets which was met with posts of planes that were outfitted with recon/weapons tech so moving on
knives made for hunting, something we don't need to do anymore, so now we have knives with blades that are not made to cut flesh but rather rope and wood and such.
bows and javellins are killing tools so idk why you brought those up to refute me
helicopters falls under the same category as planes. there are civilian variants.
gps and internet, again, civilian variants. my tom tom and my facebook profile were not meant to kill people.
interchangeable parts... you've got me there i guess. but car manufacturing plants don't also built guns so.
It seems you missed his point. Those are all things with civilian variants, even those "killing tools" as you called them. They all have civilian uses. Guns have civilian variants too. AR-15 for example, is a military derived, perfectly civilian rifle.

I was merely pointing out car manufacturing plants have made firearms before during certain times, nothing more. Amazing how you can do that when you have knowledge about the topic being debated. :v:

though with guns (and fighter jets, tanks, et cetera) any such thing that has made the transition from military to civilian hands has been "rehabilitated" and is effectively no longer a killing machine
haha this shit actually makes sense to you doesn't it
look as a society we're ready to utilize the internet in ways that don't kill people.
the same does not apply to guns

not meant to kill people
is there any other inane reason you can think of why gun owners should be criminalized for something everyone else does with various other tools?
"civilian rifle"

It is a civilian rifle. I'd like to see you try to argue otherwise.

ok you can pretend that we haven't had mass shootings then

if i point that pistol at your skull and pull the trigger are you going to die
ok you can pretend that we haven't had mass shootings then
Because every single gun EVER made was used in a mass shooting right?
/sarcasm
ok you can pretend that we haven't had mass shootings then
You can pretend that there aren't almost 100,000 law abiding gun owners who shouldn't have their rights infringed upon.

If I hit you with a car you'll die, what's your point? That guns are somehow special in the trait of being able to kill someone?

I can take a kitchen knife and stab someone in the head with that too
doesn't make it its original purpose

if I put a knife to your head or aim a bow or javelin at you and use it are you going to die
open invitation for you to get the fuck out and never come back and I promise we'll pretend you never existed
knives made for hunting, something we don't need to do anymore, so now we have knives with blades that are not made to cut flesh but rather rope and wood and such.
If you think a blade on a knife cares what it cuts you're insane. A knife to cut rope or wood will just as easily cut flesh, the original purpose of a knife.
bows and javellins are killing tools so idk why you brought those up to refute me
Because both are used in Olympic sporting events, just like shooting, and please, find me the last time someone was murdered with a javelin.
helicopters falls under the same category as planes. there are civilian variants.
Then the selfsame argument applies, if not for the initial military uses, there would be no civilian helicopters or market.
gps and internet, again, civilian variants. my tom tom and my facebook profile were not meant to kill people.
No, but the GPS system used to pilot a predator drone in Pakistan likely uses the same satellites and same technology as your tom-tom to kill innocent Pakistani children in schools. And the internet is still used for violent or illicit means to this day.
interchangeable parts... you've got me there i guess. but car manufacturing plants don't also built guns so.
Car manufacturing plants made guns, tanks, and war planes during the war, GM and Ford both made Shermans, GM made M1 Carbines, the John Inglis washing machine company of Toronto made pistols and machine guns, and a toy factory in Britain made submachine guns. During a time of all-out war, war manufacturing comes first, and everything and everyone pitches in. All manufacturing companies in WWII were making things for the war, anything from parachutes to guns to tanks to ammo, and who had the most manufacturing capacity at the time, especially for large vehicles? Car manufacturers.
Also, the Korean conglomerate Daewoo made everything from guns to cars to computers until it was broken up a few years ago.
Also, cigarettes kill 5 times more people than guns in the US every year. Where's the legislation on those?
my point is that people don't drive fucking cars into malls at 60 mph
Ok people can we at least agree that banning guns based only on what essentially comes down to visual appearances is an idiotic thing to do? We're not talking about action nor caliber, but pure aesthetics that these guns are currently getting banned for. We can talk all day about whether guns should be banned or more heavily regulated or less heavily regulated and whatnot, but can we at least agree the way the Assault Weapons Ban is being done is ineffective?
my point is that people don't drive fucking cars into malls at 60 mph
And 99.9% of people won't use their guns to shoot up Elementary Schools.
Also, cigarettes kill 5 times more people than guns in the US every year. Where's the legislation on those?
tobacco lobby blocks it
same as the gun lobby
my point is that people don't drive fucking cars into malls at 60 mph
How does
if i point that pistol at your skull and pull the trigger are you going to die
convey that argument?
my point is that people don't drive fucking cars into malls at 60 mph
they would if they didn't have guns
Ok people can we at least agree that banning guns based only on what essentially comes down to visual appearances is an idiotic thing to do? We're not talking about action nor caliber, but pure aesthetics that these guns are currently getting banned for.
actually the M16 is a civilian-derived, perfectly military rifle
the civvy AR15 came before the M16
