How does convey that argument?
when is the last time you've heard of a "mass running-over"
actually the M16 is a civilian-derived, perfectly military rifle the civvy AR15 came before the M16
Yeah I know, I misspoke.
then fuck off
Kindly do GoldenGnome.
when is the last time you've heard of a "mass running-over"
Completely irrelevant to what I asked.
i agree to that entirely.
Exactly! That is exactly why the AWB should not be passed! Not because banning guns is wrong, but because the way it bans it is completely ineffective. Any of these murders could be as well be done with hunting rifles as they could with these "assault weapons." I just wanted to be sure to make that point. Whether or not you agree with guns in society or not, you must agree that this is not the way to legislate a ban. You can go back to arguing about guns as tools and so forth.
my point is that people don't drive fucking cars into malls at 60 mph
What's stopping someone from driving up on the sidewalk in a city and running down a few hundred people? Ban cars.

sorry goldengnome but i can't carry on a debate with someone who appears to literally believe that america's violence problem is rooted solely in the fact that guns exist, that completely banning them will bring about world peace and end hunger, and that anything designed with military purpose is evil and must be dsetroyed unless it's something you happen to like such as the internet or GPS
sorry goldengnome but i can't carry on a debate with someone who appears to literally believe that america's violence problem is rooted solely in the fact that guns exist, that completely banning them will bring about world peace and end hunger, and that anything designed with military purpose is evil and must be dsetroyed unless it's something you happen to like such as the internet or GPS
Same here.
Ok people can we at least agree that banning guns based only on what essentially comes down to visual appearances is an idiotic thing to do? We're not talking about action nor caliber, but pure aesthetics that these guns are currently getting banned for. We can talk all day about whether guns should be banned or more heavily regulated or less heavily regulated and whatnot, but can we at least agree the way the Assault Weapons Ban is being done is ineffective?
Yeah, it is stupid. I mentioned it a few pages back about how the media has a hardon for pointing out how accurate you can be with the AR-15, but that has nothing to do with what happened at SandyHook Elementary school; it doesn't matter how accurate or far the range of the gun when you're nearly point blank. A glock 22 can have a 22 round capacity magazine which is much easier concealed and in cases like this most recent shooting you don't have to really aim for accuracy in close quarters. Just point the gun at your targets and squeeze the trigger. Even then, in CQC situations the shorter the barrel means the more maneuverability; which means for school shootings a pistol or short barreled rifle is much more efficient. My point to all of this is that it doesn't matter how accurate or the range of an AR-15 is; unless he was up on a hill behind the school picking off kids in recess then the issue shouldn't be coming up. Banning "Assault" Rifles based on their cosmetic appearance is ridiculous. The civilian counterparts to military rifles are so different that it's almost difficult to fathom.
I can generalize but I never called anybody out, whereas you all singled me out, not "people that share my mindset", except in one post where "fudds like me" So apparently instead of reading what I wrote with an open mind, you decided to try to justify things like using fucking Desert Eagle as a hunting gun because you can't be bothered to go "oh, okay" Read again, thanks, bye
Reading what YOU wrote with an open mind? Based just off your comment about my justification of the Desert Eagle as a hunting gun, something tells me you need to practice what you preach, especially if you still think necessity should dictate what people own or can use, and that a gun has no other purpose than killing. How about you try going to a range before trying to make such a comment, preferably with someone who has a few more guns or a range that you can "rent" them from, so you can get a chance to go outside of your comfort zone and challenge your ideologies. One cannot describe effectively why range shooting is fun, it's something that has to be experienced first hand. And I hope you know, it's rather hard to take something with an "open mind" when you're essentially saying I shouldn't be allowed to own things I own simply because you say so, and because of their supposed "initial purpose." Your post literally tells me I'm a bad person for owning a semi-automatic, how do you think I'm going to take something like that? None of my guns have killed anyone since 1945, and even then I'm not sure because those surplus guns were in such beautiful shape when I got them I doubt they ever saw active service. All your post was saying is that we need gun bans on the level of Britain, and that if a gun wasn't designed for sporting use, it can't be used for sporting purposes. I think, rather, you need to look at some of OUR posts and suggestions with an open mind, because you've been rather closed-minded this entire time.

a. you're right, america's violence problem isn't rooted in guns. its gun violence problem is, however. b. "bring about world peace, end world hunger" lol c. not "evil and must be destroyed." must be kept to the people who need them: the military.
how about this, anyone with a federal firearms license of any kind can buy any gun they want no matter the features, but you have to have a federal firearms license to buy anything but bolt, lever, or pump action hunting rifles and shotguns so if I want to go get my type 3 C&R FFL for example (which includes extensive background checks and a waiting period), I can use it to buy whatever firearm I want, including automatic weapons, suppressors, whatever I think a system like that would be taking a mile for both sides of the issue. on one hand it completely removes the ability to buy firearms for anyone without a license, on the other it allows legitimate firearms owners to buy whatever they want to have once they jump through the hoops

You shouldn't own the things you do because Hank says so. I've been speaking my mind but nobody likes to actually think about the dangers associated with guns, so here's Hank
a. you're right, america's violence problem isn't rooted in guns. its gun violence problem is, however.
no shit? kind of like how the knife violence problem is rooted in knives. and the beer violence problem is rooted in beer. i can go on for fucking ever like this - we've touched on this topic already

My license is an $85 renewal every 5 years.

And I just noticed it's not Hank Hill. My point still stands, however.
Doesn't an FFL cost over $1000/year to have, though? My license is an $85 renewal every 5 years.
type 3 is $30 for 3 years iirc
