That's all of Europe. This is JUST America [editline]19th December 2012[/editline] you guys are a different batch of ducklings, just saying
And your argument was about ALL guns. How about the high murder rates in Chicago, Detroit, Los Angeles, Washington D.C., and New York City, despite those locations having some of America's strictest gun control?
his point is based on ignoring mine. and that is that we have a problem with gun violence that can easily be remedied by doing something that i can't quite seem to put my finger on.
okay, let me make this clear banning guns does not get rid of guns. it can not and will not do that. it will only take them away from people who use them legally. illegal use of guns will continue. people will continue to die, except there will be no one able to stop the deaths until the police arrive. it only takes a few seconds for 20 people to die in a crowded movie theatre. a CCW holder could potentially stop it even before it started.
So does America. Ask the AAP yourselves
They enrolled 677 people who were shot in an assault, and 684 "population-based control participants", in Philly. Philly isn't exactly the greatest place to live. It did not take into account the fact that some people who have guns for protection already live in an area that has a high assault/murder rate.
Branas et al. have omitted critical detail from their results
Yet you people are posting studies about ALL of Europe and treating it like irrefutable evidence against the study I quoted You guys really suck at this don't you
Yet you people are posting studies about ALL of Europe and treating it like irrefutable evidence against the study I quoted You guys really suck at this don't you
shut up and come back when you turn 12
Was that so hard?
we don't have people being killed by dogs, trucks, roofing materials, hulk action figures, or skaters en masse.
You're missing the point. Basically you're making a redundant point about how certain violence is caused by a certain thing. Well no shit, your point is pointless. If you're so concerned about people dying then why aren't you lobbying against tobacco companies which legally pump chemicals into their product that have been considered the largest killer in the United States. They're just as legal as firearms, except even more accessible, but we don't see the news covering this because they can't sensationalize it. Cigarette smoking causes about 1 of every 5 deaths in the United States each year.1,6 Cigarette smoking is estimated to cause the following: 443,000 deaths annually (including deaths from secondhand smoke) 49,400 deaths per year from secondhand smoke exposure 269,655 deaths annually among men 173,940 deaths annually among women
Here it is, lol good try though kids. Guns are fucking bad, stop trying to act like they're good for any reason other than getting yourself shot
"i can't shoot this person so i'm going to have to run up to him which entails either me getting hurt or him having ample time to escape"
you're really saying that disallowing guns would get rid of all violence. That's what you're saying.
Was that so hard?
Apparently it was too hard for you to do [editline]19th December 2012[/editline]
shut up and come back when you turn 12
*slowclap* You sir win for having the best comeback I've ever heard
Apparently it was too hard for you to do
it was too hard for him to cite your source? that's your fucking job, not his
Here it is, lol good try though kids. Guns are fucking bad, stop trying to act like they're good for any reason other than getting yourself shot
By that logic so are cigarettes because all they're good for is getting yourself cancer.
Yet you people are posting studies about ALL of Europe and treating it like irrefutable evidence against the study I quoted You guys really suck at this don't you

isn't all of europe about the same size as america

By that logic so are cigarettes because all they're good for is getting yourself cancer.
that's true, though guns are good for other things than committing mass murder
Apparently it was too hard for you to do

Burden of proof 101.
[editline]19th December 2012[/editline] Next, you're going to want me to argue your points for you.
20 bullets could kill 20 people though
What does that have to do with semi-auto and full-auto weapons? At best you're arguing for magazine size restrictions, and even that is dumb. I can cycle the action on a bolt-action rifle fast enough to rival controlled fire from a semi-auto. I can change a magazine in two or three seconds. For the people who meticulously plan out these shootings and are familiar with their weapons, it won't slow them down. Restricting fire mode or magazine capacity won't do anything to safeguard people. Pump-action shotguns are still effective weapons despite the widespread availability of semi-autos.
stop trying to act like they're good for any reason other than getting yourself shot
yeah ok Ill admit the only reason I own guns is to get myself killed, you win
that's true, though guns are good for other things than committing mass murder
Sport Shooting, (Skee, Targets, etc) Hunting, Home/Personal Defense, Survival (Not post-apocoalyptic, but dangerous environments) A gun is simply a tool, just like a swiss army knife, or hatchet. All of these can be misused and sometimes are. Just because they can be used in a crime doesn't mean that's their only purpose.
Here it is, lol good try though kids. Guns are fucking bad, stop trying to act like they're good for any reason other than getting yourself shot
Except they're not, social inequality is good for getting yourself shot And if all guns are good for is getting shot, how about you ship me yours then? After all, can't have you hurting yourself, and I'm willing to take that risk for a nice .30-30.
idgaf I win bitches~ Also, cigarettes are only good for getting cancer and causing impotency Europe has 738,523,843 people, says the internet, America has 313,485,438, so not even half. A good try, though
Yay! No other first world country has or needs as many guns as america and no other first world country is so self-righteous about them. This is a good idea and if you don't think so you're stupid
not sure if sarcastic.
i'm going to bed. there are legitimate arguments against firearms ownership and you lot have managed to touch on zero of them. congrats.
idgaf I win bitches~
And you guys call US Self-righteous.
i'm going to bed. there are legitimate arguments against firearms ownership and you lot have managed to touch on zero of them. congrats.
well if there is such an abundance of actual arguments against guns that we haven't talked about in this thread yet, I implore you to point a few of them out. Oh wait a second. WE ALREADY TALKED ABOUT THEM :OOOOO
idgaf I win bitches~ Also, cigarettes are only good for getting cancer and causing impotency Europe has 738,523,843 people, says the internet, America has 313,485,438, so not even half. A good try, though
Okay, this proves my point, you're an ignorant, narrow-minded fool. Did you even bother to watch any of the video of Dr. Langmann or read the newspaper article about his study? Did you bother to take the suggestion of going to a gun range with an open mind? At this point, all you're doing is being an idiotic troll.
Also, cigarettes are only good for getting cancer and causing impotency
we should probably ban those oh and while we're at it I hear obesity kills people, we should ban fatty foods
