Isnt it great when politicians vote on stuff that they have absolutely NO understanding of? even better is when they get called on it and they get all confused
This happens with a lot of things and it's really a shame.
Yeah because if Adam Lanza was taught how to properly handle a gun who knows how many kids he could have killed!
I see you are unable to understand my meaning. I am sorry for your lots, please refer to this post to be enlightened. http://facepunch.com/showthread.php?t=1233672&p=38880027&viewfull=1#post38880027
Yeah because if Adam Lanza was taught how to properly handle a gun who knows how many kids he could have killed!
Have you ever held a handgun? Or hell, even been in a class room? Let's say the average size of an elementary school classroom is like 10 meters x 10 meters. All he would have to do at that distance is just point his hand at a body and pull the trigger. Weapons education goes over safety procedures and how to properly store it. Anyone can learn how to shoot if they have a ride to walmart and a 20 dollar bill to buy a red ryder.
there is no correlation between http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Number_of_guns_per_capita_by_country and http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Democracy_Index
Uruguay has WHAT. I thought everyone hated guns here.
Some states you wait 20 minutes. I don't see how its so retarded in your eyes though
You see nothing wrong with the fact that someone with no prior experience with firearms, possibly batshit insane can just waltz in and get whatever they want, as long as they have the money.
Wait. Seriously. A barrel shroud? It's literally a circular piece on the end of the barrel that has no purpose other than to prevent contact with the barrel :v:
I'm honestly not sure why you'd ban something that is meant to prevent injury :v:
People can say how much they love this, but have no clue how little it will achieve.
Some states you wait 20 minutes. I don't see how its so retarded in your eyes though
How can't you see? A person who is probably a looney walks into a gun store, showing a few signs of being crazy or just unstable, you hand him a gun, and off he goes. It's like handing a car to a kid who keeps saying he'd be a great racer. It's a recipe for disaster.
You see nothing wrong with the fact that someone with no prior experience with firearms, possibly batshit insane can just waltz in and get whatever they want, as long as they have the money.
That's how capitalism works. They usually illegally obtain the weapons from other people, not legally buy it. And B. They spend months planning this shit, why would they fuck it all up by acting like the Joker in a gun store?
Car fatalities are usually accidents. No one is going to accidentally conduct a mass killing.
What about the 100 yr old man who accidentally hit 11 school children waiting on the bus? He didn't kill them but he very well could have. Or the 89 yr old man who mistook the gas pedal for the brake and drove through a farmers market killing 9 people on ACCIDENT. Or the 76 yr old woman who drove her car into a market injuring 10. Or the drunk man who lost control of his speeding car hitting a bus stop killing 4 people and injuring 8 others. Yeah people accidentally kill Numerous people a day with vehicles, Vs number of accidental gun deaths. With guns you literally cannot accidentally kill 11 people easily. Think of if people did use cars with intention of killing people. It would be 100x easier, and more deadly.
As long as "Assault Weapon" is strictly defined, I really dont have a problem with this. Although im more in support of blocking the purchasing of high-capacity clips (or magazines), along with the buying of bulk ammunition [editline]18th December 2012[/editline] as opposed to banning them all. *
This is retarded. We don't need weapon bans. We need weapon education.
Because weapon education would obviously put off retards that want to kill people with their guns.
you can fire a gun for longer with one if it's designed well without burning your hands
Uhm. That's not what it's for. The handguard prevents the barrel from heating your hand to bits. The shroud merely makes it easier to carry a weapon after firing it, and prevent risking a burn similar to a cigarette burn. It would be easy to accidentally brush the tip of it against yourself if you sligned it behind your shoulder.
http://www.amazon.com/Ove-Glove-Surface-Handler-Pack/dp/B001EPR98Q
I know you can also wrap your gun in insulation ghetto style
you can fire a gun for longer with one if it's designed well without burning your hands
But it looks scary, thus ban.
Well I don't live in the USA but I can see that it's not going to work. It's the same as with all the "you can't have a knife thats x cm long" shit. Yes, your everyday normal people will obey this law, but bandits/psychos don't give a shit about it so in the end it will be another law that's making everybody's life harder but the bad guy's.
Because its impossible to buy from more than one place for ammo, right?
No system is going to be perfect. I just pitched an idea is lieu of banning weapons.

The thing about cars is that we already have safeguards in most places against them. A car can bump into anything and be stopped by a small pole. A man with a handgun can just go around it.
Its already illegal for civilians to own an automatic weapon anyways. big woop.
Ban things that can be used as weapons
Or ban things that are weapons.
Because its impossible to buy from more than one place for ammo, right?
The thing that people don't understand when they try to argue for the regulation of ammo, is that because of modern manufacturing and the need to mass produce, ammo is extremely easy to make. Like, not even joking here, you can just buy littered brass and make your own ammo for a fraction cheaper.
welp, glad I bought 10 AR lowers. Now I get to resell them for big bucks.
Its already illegal for civilians to own an automatic weapon anyways. big woop.
Automatic guns aren't even good for massacres unless they're belt fed. Aim would be fucked up from the recoil, and ammo would be wasted far quicker and with more damage done to the property, than to the people he is aiming for.

Answer: Driver kills tons instantly, shooting takes time and aim.
It will never pass and I hope it doesn't. The whole piece of legislation known as the AWB isn't even worth the paper it is wrote on. It was also highly ineffective, also the definition of what made something an assault weapon was ridiculous. Does it have a bayonet mount? it is a assault weapon. Does it have a pistol grip? If so it is a assault weapon. Does it look like a scary M16 or AK47? If yes, then it is banned. This does not treat the problem, just a symptom. It is like taking cold medicine when you have the flu, you may feel fine due to the medication but you're still sick in the end. Again our political system and media playing on the emotional response of people all while taking short cuts to "Fix" and issue and make us feel all warm and fuzzy. We're acting so ridiculous right now, it is fucking shameful. Pulling songs of the radio, (Trying to) ban weapons, pulling shows/movies, etc isn't going to bring these kids back. Every time something bad happens we're just going to fucking pull anything related to it off the shelf? We're gonna ban it? Fix the fucking problem and stop taking short cuts. Lets ban cars due to drunk drivers, lets ban power-tools because they can hurt someone, lets ban planes because someone crashed them in to two buildings, lets ban knives because people get stabbed, lets ban GPS systems because some people used it strictly instead of using common sense and crashed their shit or got lost, lets just fucking ban everything and take a magic pill that will make us husks so nothing bad happens.
name 1 reason to have an assault weapon if you're CC, you have a handgun if you hunt, you use proper rifles or shotguns why would you need a bayonet for hunting
