• David Cameron: 'Don’t complain about welfare cuts, go and find work'
Well that's wrong for a start. The base pay is ~£55, but this can increase depending on a number of different factors such as children, savings, etc.
That base pay is for under 24 years old. For adults, it's £65. (For anyone getting the wrong idea, I'm not defending unemployment, I'm saying the government is attacking the wrong benefit.)
I'm currently looking for a job- I'm 18, I have 12 GCSEs with the grade B and above and currently studying economics, business and maths at A-level, my predictions are A, A, B. I despise being unemployed- you think I'm not looking for a job? and I think unemployed is acceptable? Go fuck yourself.
How is it possible for politicians to be that out of touch with reality?
So if two or three percent of people don't want to work out of 2.6 million, how many more than five hundred thousand is that? Even using your own numbers there's a huge shortage of jobs.
I'm actually genuinely amazed. Do you think that 500,000 jobs is a set figure that will once used never come back? Jobs are always opening and if these people decided to look for a job for the entire 6 months they had been on benefits they would have found plenty of jobs to apply for. It's silly and short sighted to say that just because there's a lower current amount of jobs than unemployment that they can't get any jobs - one of the top excuses for unemployed people.
cunt
People should stop asking the country what it can do for them. And start asking what they can do for the country.

Not only that, but you've not even tried to explain how many people are abusing the system, rather that there simply are people abusing the system.

I'll just point out here that the current UK unemployment system requires showing proof of looking for employment every 2 weeks. These then get followed up on. After 13 weeks, more intensive methods are employed, leading to mandatory voluntary (unpaid, except for the usual unemployment benefit) placement if the 'jobseeker' is still unsuccessful. Again, I shall state that it is not the unemployment benefit that is either being abused (due to above), or costing so much money (see my previous posts). They should be looking at disability benefits in particular - that one is heavily abused, with high payouts.

What is a problem for me is that most places don't want a "part-time accountant" so I apply for retail places where I'll just be stacking shelves. I'll probably look for jobs once a week or two. Anymore it'll be depressing.

I just applied for a job that has shit loads of people going for it. Furthermore, my friend also applied for it and she has waaaay more experience in the job role than I do. But I still applied because: a. Theres always that (small) chance I may get the job. b. Even if I don't get the job but I get an interview, it's good practice.
This is the ugly side of socialism, tons of people living on welfare in Sweden for no reason except laziness. Meanwhile I have to pay 60% taxes... (sales tax included)
In other news Britian as reached £1 trillion in debt! http://www.guardian.co.uk/uk/feedarticle/10057399 These austerity measures sure are working aren't they Mr Cameron!
I was annoyed those bishops in the House of Lords didn't allow the welfare reform through. I earn 12k after tax, so it's good to know someone out there is getting 14k more for doing less. If anyone posting is complaining about not finding work, I don't know what you're doing wrong. If you don't have qualifications something very serious must have disrupted your education or you just didn't try hard enough or you're simply too lazy to look for work. There seems to be a stong culture in the UK of 'that job's beneath me'. I didn't go to university but got the best grades possible in what are considered tough academic subjects, and I work for Morrisons. I hate it, but where also do I go? The retail sector has thousands of brainless jobs, at least in the large companies. I have plans, but they can't go any further until the economy kick starts again.
And I can almost guarantee that you have no credible source for that claim.
Personal experience and from just following the news here in sweden. Of course noone is officialy living on wellfare without proper reason, but anything else would be quite paradoxal you see.
The real problem surely is the people who don't claim JSA but claim various disability benefits and "can't work" due to "illness".
They also escape this "too lazy" ire from society, despite being the worst offenders.
To be honest, I'll have to check for the exact number. But I've applied for most supermarket stores, and a few department stores. It's obviously going to be tough getting a job in that situation so one or two applications every week or two just won't cut it. You need to be sending your CV everywhere even if they aren't advertising jobs. Don't blame David, he's not the issue here.
Just gonna be real right now. If you're on JSA, you should be fucking learning something at least. I taught myself to creatively write, animate in flash, program, draw, use photoshop to a professional standard, make fully functional dynamic websites and create 3d models by myself over the last 6 years. If you're not working, you certainly should not be wasting your time playing CoD on Xbox all day.

http://www.guardian.co.uk/uk/feedarticle/10057399 These austerity measures sure are working aren't they Mr Cameron!
It's not as simple as that, and you know it. It was inevitable that debt would increase past £1 trillion. You have to pay interest on debt, and the sheer amount of interest we pay means we have to borrow more money to pay that interest. The part we need to be paying attention to is how much we borrow and whether it not it is increasing or decreasing. At the moment, it is decreasing: "The Government borrowed a total of £103.3 billion between April and December, which is £11.3 billion lower than the previous year." - according to your article. So, nice attempt at mis-leading people.

The BBC said that 25% of businesses are hiring. :eng101:
The BBC said that 25% of businesses are hiring. :eng101:
Plus you aren't even limited to joining an existing business. All you need is a lot of effort; a niche market and a lot of time. Is good experience even if it isn't well paid - running your own small business, or helping out a friend who is running theirs. I've had so much more interest in response to my applications after doing so.
Oh fuck off, politicians shouldn't lecture about how we should get jobs when they don't even have a real job themselves The only reason all these cuts in government and "austerity" measures are being implemented is because the way international economy works is fundamentally flawed and private banks don't know how to create money properly.
This is the ugly side of socialism, tons of people living on welfare in Sweden for no reason except laziness. Meanwhile I have to pay 60% taxes... (sales tax included)
I'm taxing 33% tax + 15% schablonavdrag "whatever that is in english" it's somewhat cheaper when you are younger. Then calculate swedish VAT and shit like that. Still worth it though.
I've handed my CV into over 60 places now and i haven't had a single call or anything from any of them. The worst part is that i know plenty of people who are also in the same situation
Been looking for a part-time job in any unskilled job that would take me for months. Had about 2 actual replies (saying sorry we're not hiring or you don't have enough experience) out of about 20 applications... its bloody annoying.
