Just buy a used game a few days after it comes out, they dont get any money that way.

It was going happen since Mass Effect 3 is going Origin-Only.
Oh and if someone brings up "WELL IT'S ON DIRECT2DRIVE" I'm sure they WILL make you install Origin and put in the key to even play it.
That page is quite confusing. The "only on Origin" in this case could be any number of things.
1. Battlefield 3 entirely, meaning you can't get it anywhere else digitally.
2. Perhaps only on Origin means only the Origin exclusive pre-order items they talk about.
3. Perhaps it applies only to the LE for BF3.
Etc.
It's still absolutely asinine though.
I'm still holding out hope that EA realizes it'd be a huge mistake to limit themselves like this. I honestly can't see how having their title on multiple digital distribution platforms is in any way bad for them. And from what most are saying, they're going to hurt themselves badly as not many people want to latch on to Origin.
Good thing nobody cares since crysis two SUCKS

You may want to quickly read through the thread.
Crysis 2, Mass Effect 3, SWTOR, and possibly Battlefield 3... to start with.
I don't know who runs the head of marketing at EA
But he's a giant fucking idiot. Possibly Bobby Kotick level of idiot.
To all the people who claim "Steam does the same": We don't want 2 clients, 2 accounts, etc. Valve got here first, EA is too late.

EA is too late for what exactly? It's never too late really. No one forces you to use origin, just buy a boxed copy.
Fuck and I was about to buy it.
Get the fuck back to Latvia !
Also the MP is boring compared to Crysis 1

You wouldn't mind if they wouldn't have any digital distribution at all or if they would come up with some other unnecessary inconvenience either right?
Aren't you the guy who didn't mind bullshit DRMs?
If you already have the game on steam you won't need origin to run the game, origin is just the renewed EA download manager, you don't need it to be running to run the game, it's just a platform to buy games from.
EADM was fucking horrible.
It crashed MORE than Steam.

In origin I can just download the game and never run origin again. Unlike with steam, I don't need to run origin at all. It's just so easy. I don't know what's the fuss about.
And no I was not that guy, I hate drm, especially the one that forces me to stay online or has limited installs.
People refusing to buy because of the digital distribution service a game uses? If Battlefield 3 lacks in sales it wouldn't come as a surpise if EA gives a greater focus on console players.
I mean seriously - It's not going to kill you that you buy from Origin. Same prices, just different distribution system. You can add a shortcut to Steam for games you acquire through Origin. Stop being whiny bitches and sucking Valve's dick.
I also don't mind that EA uses its own in-house system. They probably made it anyways so they don't have to pay portions of each item sold to Valve and for greater authority. No problem with that, didn't want Steam to become a monopoly anyways.
Dammit I have all Crysis 1 games on Steam. They better not touch them.
Will buy any 'origin' exclusives on discs, not supporting that bullshit.
Damn straight.
This is just detailing the digital release.
I want the retail version to just install on its own, not cram an additional program to play my game down my throat. I hate how newer retail games always shove Steam down my throat, if Origin does it too then I'll be disappointed.
I'm with you, man.
Fuck you EA, I wanted to buy Crysis 2 on Steam during the summer sales, once my exams were finished and got my new laptop
fuck you

Buy it on origin sale lol
Buy it on origin sale lol
I prefer to stick with Steam as the only 'DRM' program for my games, thank you.

All of this is an unnecessary inconvenience compared to just having it on steam. That's why people are complaining, durrr.

If they would add a 3 install drm or some other bullshit you'd be saying the same right? It's not our fault they are fucking up their own sales.
I also don't mind that EA uses its own in-house system. They probably made it anyways so they don't have to pay portions of each item sold to Valve and for greater authority. No problem with that, didn't want Steam to become a monopoly anyways.
Don't mind every publisher to have it's own in-house system then.
I'm okay with EA saying "okay you have to use Origin as it's our DRM", but pulling games from other digital distributors is a dick move. Although it's not ideal, Steam just listing Origin as 3rd Party DRM would do the trick fine. Forcing people to buy digitally exclusively through your startup is not cool (although I understand Steam had to start somewhere, so my wording is probably completely defunct.)
as long as it doesn't have that timed expiration that EADM did i don't see the big deal
I prefer to stick with Steam as the only 'DRM' program for my games, thank you.
Then you shouldn't use steam games because most games on steam have steam drm and their own drm. So steam is not "the only" drm.
All of this is an unnecessary inconvenience compared to just having it on steam. That's why people are complaining, durrr.
Honestly I just gotta say that if people are too lazy to create one additional account and click a few buttons, then they don't deserve DICEs support for the PC platform.
If they would add a 3 install drm or some other bullshit you'd be saying the same right? It's not our fault they are fucking up their own sales.
EA would probably add DRM onto a product to be released on Steam anyways, seeing as EA had no issues with including SecuRom with their titles on Steam, although Steam's default DRM system was in place anyways as well. Doesn't bother me really, I'm not going to use three installations anyways and even if it were three, there would definitely be a way to revoke installations through Support or something
Don't mind every publisher to have it's own in-house system then.
I don't want to sound like a smart ass, but I honestly don't mind. The only time I buy from Steam anyways is if I'm buying something on sale. And no doubt if publishers had their own distribution systems they'd include sales as well. Even GFW has its weekly sales.
I acknowledge that Origin won't require me to have it activated to launch a game I want to play, but I will still wait for a Steam Release. They already did an exclusive deal back with Dragon Age 2 and it showed up on Steam in the end. Sure we might miss out on some 'Limited Edition' deals, but it's worth it for me.
I just like having e.g. Mass Effect 1, 2 and 3 in the same games list with them updating for me. Not that it's hard to download updates manually, I just like to spend my time doing other stuff than finding patches and download them from other sites only to find out I downloaded the wrong one (especially an inconvenience if you live in non-English European countries). Maybe I'm just obsessive with keeping order in my games list or something.
Crysis 2 being pulled makes little to no sense though, marketing-wise.
I won't support Origin because EA has been known to shut their online services for games I still play off. Also, it's pretty much impossible for Activision games to show up on Origin. Not because I like playing them, it's just an extreme example. Also, with all the security problems lately, I'd rather not leave my financials with yet another platform. Sure Steam might get hacked too, but at least the risk is lower than if I leave them with two Digital Distribution Platforms.
I think this is just a temporary hype; they'll eventually realise that Steam is better. But it makes me wonder, with EA being Valve's Publisher, and them getting money for publishing Valve games, you'd think they'd be a little friendlier. After all Valve doesn't publish their games via Activision or something.
tl;dr: I'll stay with Steam-only and wait for EA to release them on there, even if it's the 'lesser' edition.

Wow do you take up in the ass too?
If EA is leaving Steam, I'm not buying any games (other than Mass Effect 3) from them
Same here. There is no way i am going to buy another game from EA if I am forced to use their bullshit download service.
Wow do you take up in the ass too?
Take it up the ass? Good argument there, resorting to homosexual implications because you couldn't think of anything more coherent.
No I don't by the way, I'm defending EA's business practices because they are in their right to do this, and it's not even as bad as Steam anyways. People should stop being the fanboys that they are for Valve. I honestly can't wait for the day when Valve implements a new business strategy and causes everyone to absolutely lose it.
Wow do you take up in the ass too?
Oh god his opinion is different than mine, he probably takes it in the ass.
Same here. There is no way i am going to buy another game from EA if I am forced to use their bullshit download service.
i can already hear EA mourning the loss of your sale
What you will do by pirating their games will not result them put back on steam but instead will result them pulling out of pc altogether.
Same here. There is no way i am going to buy another game from EA if I am forced to use their bullshit download service.
Yea just like how many people said they wouldn't buy MW2. Origin will become successful because people really want to play ME3/BF3.
